Nature’s Balance – Līgo Haībun Challenge!

10 Feb

Anothers writers challenge for me to try: The Līgo Haībun Challenge ~ words to bring the world together.

It was suggested to me (thank you yerpirate ) that I give this one a try! And so I shall.

Each week a prompt word, phrase or image is used for the haībun challenge. This weeks word prompt isligo-challenge2 “MELT”!

Haībun is Prosimetric writing. The haībun format here for the Līgo Haībun Challenge is as follows ~

paragraph (more than one paragraph is fine, or just a few sentences) in prose form of either

  • a descriptive passage , or excerpt from a story/or previously published post
  • an explanation
  • a tale
  • a travelogue
  • a news item
  • a recipe

and

  • the haiku to close

THE LIGO HAIBUN NORMALLY SHOULD BE 220 WORDS OR LESS – Images can be included.

Dew on Spider Web – Penny L Howe, 2012

~

Nature’s Balance

The flow is the balance.

She is a runner of life and knows the flow is the balance. Running through early morning golden meadows, hair streaming behind, her breathing is deep and even. Her essence is air, the flow is balanced. A runner’s secret, balance can create speed but speed is an effect not the cause.

On this morning the soles of her feet fleetingly touch upon damp morning dew on a spider web. Something occurs, an otherworldly melding of effect with cause. She runs on but the balance has changed. She is fleeter, running more swiftly, the blending of the web’s moisture and air melting elements together. Magic? She finds she can now run through time. Her yesterdays, todays and tomorrows, all-time!

The flow is the balance. The effect, the melding of time. Her essence, all-time. Now she runs through life, her life and all life. An amazing thing. No stopping her now. She runs on. The flow is the balance – of life.

*

As nature’s balance

Creates life’s flowing essence

So magic happens

nature

.

Thank you,

plh

Wonderful flow of words – really felt this almost personally as the theme of the role of nature in us is a big one for me, but also the one of movement. You made her barefoot as she ran, so she was really in touch with nature, that in turn was a nice touch. I like very much that you go further than the communal ‘appreciation of nature; mantra, and glide us through with her, to reach our senses. There is a real difference between ‘enjoying’ nature and feeling it’s rhythms on our senses. I like very much what you did here. Perfect as a haibun, I think.

((((applauding)))) woo hoo WTG Penny! You got my vote. Hope you win the challenge…. you truly deserve it ;-)

Thanks Roxi, I was going to call this 50 shades of deep but didn’t think it would go over too well! :)

        February 10, 2013 at 4:42 pm

I like both. What’s more important is what do you like? You write from the soul… got to be true to you, regardless of the audience. ;-)

          February 11, 2013 at 6:37 pm

Thank you Roxi, I tend to not only be a closet writer when it comes to my own “style” of personal writing but also very cautious with presenting same to viewers. You’re right of course, be true to you! Again many thanks dear friend! :) xx

            February 11, 2013 at 6:39 pm

Oh I hear you about being a closet writer…. I’m still in that frame of mind and will likely always will be. But you… you have something that is of true value to others and no matter what you choose, it will be ‘just right.’

              February 11, 2013 at 6:46 pm

Thank you Roxi, but I do wish you’d rethink your own work and being published! You’re writing is all the things you say mine is, I don’t expect you to agree with me but you can’t change how I feel about it! :)
