The following words were spoken to me this morning by the oh-so-wise eleven year old young lady living in this household!

“Everything is alright – inside of us – when we laugh!” Emma L.B. 2013
self portrait (cartoon style) by Emma L.B., 2013
~
Now that’s a quote I can really get my arms around, both figuratively and literally! Children do have a way of reminding us of what is truly important in life. And they are always the most simple of things. So why are our lives so complicated? How come we lose this awareness when we grow up, and why?
I recently visited one of my blogging friends, Doris who posted (with great photos) that a fun way to “escape” is to spend time with children. Check her post out, just click on her link! She’s right!
The talented and delightful Emma was recording her laughter for a video she is making (both her and her brother are into movie making). Emma’s area of interest is making moving cartoon videos from her original characters that she draws. Jack – two years her senior is also into Stop Motion videos, lego pieces and people (he has one of the sinking of the titanic), and also racing/crashes with hotwheels cars. (The process is laborious and takes hours). They both do their own uploading and editing including voice overs of their videos!
So Emma has been recording her laughter and giggles and playing with it for the voice over for her latest cartoon video. She just came into my writing room and asked me to listen to her laughter. We both ended up laughing for 5 minutes. So naturally I had to share her “giggle” and her reason why laughter is a good thing, with all of you!
Essence of the infectious giggle as demonstrated by Emma!

Make the best of your day, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Laughter does help! So do children!
I’m thinking it’s time for a break. Ease up on things. relax, wind down.
It’s your life we’re talking here. How about being good to yourself
… for a change!

“Live in the moment my friends
so when those good moments happen
you’re ready to enjoy them!”
~ Penny L Howe, 2013
*
Yes, for those of you who have started to follow A Penny for your thoughts this quote was taken from today’s post. I guess I really wanted to make a point to as many as possible about our need to relax a little bit more in our too busy daily lives! I hope the point was made, be good to you – you’re worth it. Going crazy from living an insane pace isn’t.
This musical video “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!” has a few words in it that can be considered offensive (I am being serious here). The song is from Monty Python’s movie The Life of Brian (1979) but the point is still well made. We take ourselves and our lives (and everyone else’s) far too seriously, too often.
The good news is … (wait, there’s good news?) … as I was saying, the good news is there is so much news, events, activities, things happening that everyone seems to have an opinion about, and so on, that the word “boring” (unless your referring to a drill) isn’t in most people’s vocabulary. At least not too much.
This is official “Lighten up Week” (well I don’t know that it’s actually official) but for goodness sake (your own sake – for starters!) look on the bright side of things. It is waaaaay to easy to look on the dark side (Imagine Darth Vader breathing here!) of things.

Take a break this week from the “Much ado” aspect of living. Be thankful and grateful for what you do have right this second. Enjoy those around you, make their day and yours a little bit better.
Has anyone noticed that life can be a little … TOUGH!!!
Life comes at a person fast and furious (on some days). Or dreary and overwhelmingly dull and even (should I use the word … depressing) on other days. Scary, Frightening, Sad, Miserable, Hectic, Cruel, Too much, too much, too much …
There you go. That’s us humans for you. We’re a very reactionary bunch aren’t we? We think and emote over almost everything. Maybe we’re too stationary. Or not stationary enough (mentally speaking)!
I think we need more “playful” breaks. Tickling and giggling are good. Just running with a burst of energy for no reason at all is good. Singing a fun song just for the heck of it.
“If your happy and you know it clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you show it then the whole wide world will know it,
it you’re happy and you know it clap your hands.”
Happiness is a state of being. It doesn’t “fix’ the problems of the world. But it certain puts us in a more positive productive mode (mood also) which can in fact change how we approach the problems of the world. Change your attitude and things don’t appear quite so untenable.
Saying I love you for no reason at all except you just want to in the moment (children do that spontaneously, you know).
And being sensual … as in my last post. That’s being playful also. On a list of top ten playful things for adults to do … Being openly sensual is right up there towards the top because we need each other and we need to let each other know this. A very good and “playful” reminder for you today.
It’s Thursday, a work day for many, still take a little bit of time today and be playful,
A committee is a group of people appointed for a specific function, frequently this group is appointed by a legislature to consider the details of proposed legislation. In this hypothetical case the group is being picked to give an honest unbiased perspective of a current situation.
I’ve assembled for your voting pleasure a few different “groups”! In your opinion which group do you feel you would trust the most for this hypothetical situation.
Proposed committee groups:
Group A
Group B
Group C
Group D
~
Please vote for either A, B, C, or D! The results of this vote will not be made public (unless you read the other comments made by the other visitors). Do not be influenced by cute faces. It is important that you vote for the most qualified in terms of which group you believe would be “open”, “honest” and “sincere”! Thank you for taking part in this discussion about the nature of committees!
Hey everyone, and of course all you hundreds of millions of trekkies (yup, that many)! I just have to share this video with all of you.
William Shatner, (A Canadian who became famous as Captain Kirk of the Starship Enterprise for the sci-fi cult tv show – Star Trek) is a movie star, tv icon and writer of science fiction. He’s also 82 years old. Does that slow him down? Not a whit!
He owns a horse farm (loves to ride) does tv commercials, shows up on tv shows, and so forth and so on. The follow commercial is for a new video game, and Shatner (as always is at his best) Please enjoy – a lot!
I also think he is an excellent representation of the meaning “living every day of your life to it’s fullest!” btw any of you who think I might be exaggerating click this link for his upcoming activities Bill’s Appearances!
Just no way around it. Kittens are cute. So this post is devoted to the cuteness of kitty-ness!
one of my fav. shots!
In my personal opinion you can never have too much cuteness in your life … well at least a dose a day to help keep the blues away.
My kittens are
Cute, adorable and sweet.
Loving and friskily neat.
Never are spurious
but amazingly curious
Their adventures are always a treat!

Thank you Rochelle for giving writers a weekly writing challenge. Friday Fictioneers presents an opportunity for writers to improve upon their craft of the written word. The challenge: Using a photo to prompt an idea, write an entertaining (hopefully) 100 words or less “flash fiction” short story. It will have a beginning, a middle and an end. This weeks photo prompt by - Douglas M. MacIlroy, copyright 2013

A clever fellow

There once was a horse that was gifted, who (with his teeth) he then lifted, a long water hose so this short story goes, and proceeded to drink as he shifted.
A brilliantly smart horse was he, the talent was inborn you see, His mom, a race horse, and his dad could, of course, count numbers ever since he was three.
The last thing to add here I’ll say, whether it be good or nay, the horse will of course, head to a food source and then will proceed to … eat hay!
