The View

July 31, 2012 – I started The View as the result of entering a Weather Blog Invitational encouraged by Courtenay of http://bluebirdblvd.net/ & Metan” of Buried Words and Bushwa, http://picsandstuff.wordpress.com/ The idea was for bloggers everywhere to submit a photo, written word, anything creative representative of what the weather was doing in their particular part of the world! The following is my submission.

I live in the the southeastern part of Washington state. Up until a few weeks ago we had really wet and weird weather. As a result the nearby Columbia River became engorged and overflowed into otherwise high and dry areas. The following photo is a few weeks old but illustrates pretty clearly the situation. The river is still high but it isn’t as bad as it was – Yes, that is me and the water is very very cold! Enjoy!

I hope that some brave knight came along to rescue you from that watery scene :) Of course you could have just paddled your way out of there I guess? :)

I see you are doing your interpretation of King Canute. I see you had the same problem as he had ;)

Ralph I am totally good with that comparison. I am a third generation Norwegian, consequently any comparisons to the King Canute are fine by me! :)

Hi Penny, an interesting photograph though. I understand now why you took that. It’s the Norse in you :)

    Who took that photo?!

Just the webcam on my computer, Somesh! Almost all the photos you see of me I take of myself with my PC webcam! Occasionally little Emma, or Emma’s mom takes one but most they are self taken! Is it okay?

Sorry about that Somesh, I was on my dashboard answering comments and I thought you were referencing the photo of my post for today. This photo of me sitting on the bench in the river was taken by another member of my household. She is very gifted when it comes to that. As I said previously, almost all the photos are ones I take, Every now and then I use a photo taken by another person.

Oh my, that is one heck of a view! It made for a wonderfully interesting photo, though I’m glad the river’s not as high as it was.

It’s hard for me to think of water being that cold in the summertime. My Lake Michigan tap water is almost warm. :)

I know, it is amazing with the sun blazing and the water frigid a most interesting dichotomy, although my feet had stronger language to share with me on the subject. But the view was fascinating. Mother Nature in all her glory! :) Thanks for the comments and stopping by, I appreciate it very much.

I gotta agree with you. I just about frozen my feet and legs off. I kid you not! The water was icy cold. Thanks! :)
