“Free to Fly”
This morning I was having a conversation with an online friend and she was telling me how she was enjoying so many bloggers posts as they were so inspirational. That she was feeling more inspired and how she was starting to feel she could be freer to express herself.
I encouraged her to do so with the following message “Please with all my heart I would wish you to be free to fly” (express yourself).
Christina (my daughter) and I recently posted on the wall, our ‘wish/dream’list for the family’s journey of moving on with their life. (Duane – beloved husband to Christina and loving father to his children was struck and killed 2 years ago by a driver not paying attention) Emma, my 10 year old granddaughter said this morning when asked what she would wish for (for our list) and I quote her exact words”
Emma: “I would wish to fly like a bird. Perhaps I could use a jet-pack or a glider, I do so want to feel free to fly”.
I think that is nicely summing things up!
This was said by a 10 year old beautiful young creative girl (a girl that is now without her wonderful father ) who is at last moving forward like her other family members and joyously embracing her future.
The art and photograph are 100% all compliments of talented Emma.
The photo at the top was taken by Emma a few weeks ago.
she’d rush in to grab the camera to shoot a picture of the sky because it was so beautiful and then she’d review the photo and do “touch ups” with effects so the picture would represent her view.
If you truly wish to be inspired here you go! (this is just a sampling) She makes cartoon videos, clay characters, puts on plays and she’s a nut about science. She loves to talk about time travel and her favorite expression is “that must be a psychological phenomenon”. And yes she does know what that means!
And this is Emma! I hope she has inspired you today!

Thanks for sharing a beautiful inspiring post. Reminds me of The Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland: Dorothy singing – Somewhere over the rainbow way up high, There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true. Someday I’ll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, Away above the chimney tops, That’s where you’ll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly. If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can’t I? Thanks for sharing and I do appreciate you visiting My Journal of Praise and liking posts. God Bless.
Thank you Darlene, very much. Emma is a sweetheart. So filled with love and the need to be creative with everything to express herself. I agree, much like Judy singing those wonderful words. Thank you again for your so caring thoughts, it was my pleasure to visit you, sending warmth and hugs your way, Penny xx
What a beautiful inspiration!
Thanks Celestine, I’m having a little bit of a problem staying on top of things here between comments on a lot of my other pages (people are going back to read them lol) besides the current one and then in my real world I have two adorable little ones wanting attention (they come first always) so I’m a bit tardy on things here. I do appreciate you and your wonderful comments, my friend – so much! Sending you love today across the seas! Penny 🙂
She truly is an inspiration!
Yes I’m in total agreement with you on this one, maggie!

Thanks Doris, I am very glad to hear that. She is an inspiration to this whole family. I hope your weekend was a pleasant one for you. Sending warm thoughts your way this day, Penny xx
Thanks for the flying lessons!
You’re welcome Alice, I just love the way you express your thoughts. You are a joy. Flying is a huge theme with Emma, she has many beautiful photos of the sky and she has to explain each one to me as to what she’s thinking about and why she took the photo. So yes she is definitely the one to take “flying – through life”, lessons from, with affection to you this day, Penny 🙂
Emma is adorable! Please tell her that I especially enjoyed the brilliant colors in her sidewalk art.
Thank you so very much Wendy I will pass it on to her. Her creativity blooms whereever she goes, the sidewalks are frequently filled with colorful and original renders, again thank you so very much my friend, with much affection, Penny 🙂
Children have the wonderful gift of being able to express themselves, openly, honestly, unencumbered by fear of failure or ridicule. Your entire family has such talent. I wonder who helped to nurture that, perhaps mom/grandmother? 🙂 Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.
Thank you LuAnn for nudging me in this creative direction yesterday with your comments. It helped me shape what I wanted to pass on to our blogger friends. I am indeed blessed with my family, much appreciation for you my friend, Penny 🙂
Emma’s words and pictures are inspiring to me. With you standing by her, she will grow to a happy, bright, and positive young woman and a role model to many others. Thank you for the heartwarming post! Have a great day!

It is so true that the love Duane and Christina shared will always be present and expansive – through the hearts of their children. Thank your for your warm and loving wishes always Penny ~ xo

Wow! Seriously… I’m very very impressed… and, honestly, I’m not easily impressed! I don’t use those words lightly! She’s clearly a very talented, exceptional young lady! The photo of the sky is something I’d love to see hanging on a wall somewhere – especially mine! I love how the sky is brighter above the dark clouds – I don’t know if she intended the symbolism, but it’s there all the same!
LOVE IT! 😀
Yes, several things are obvious immediately about Christina and her family, beauty on the insides, beauty on the outside and a ton of talent. Both Emma’s older sister and her brother equally talented.
Yes emma definitely would be happy to explain to you the “effect” she was going for. Thank you Richard. 🙂
Your welcome. I meant it. I don’t pay compliments for the sake of it… 🙂 It truly is a great photo and I’d be very proud if my child had taken it…
Thanks, she has some better ones! 🙂
Post them! I, for one, would love to see them 🙂
I believe Emma plans to do that herself with her next post! 🙂
I see artistic talent runs in the family!
And – great souls are in your DNAs too 😉
Oh Rosy you say the sweetest things. The love of and for family is the greatest thing there is and even though there’s sadness there is great love also to be passed around. There’s always time enough for love and I’m blessed with that. The talent it’s an extra bonus for me!
I am speechless with all the beauty in photo and talented family. I am sorry for the loss of Father, husband and son in law! What a strong family you have!
Emma is awesome, Penny! Thank you so much for sharing. I must tell you when my eyes first fell upon the picture of the sky I thought what a great picture. I wonder where it was found. So I immediately looked for a caption that might tell the photographer and/or location. To my surprise, I did find out and what a wonderful surprise that was:>) Hope you and your family are having a wonderful weekend!
Yes I would agree, she really does come running in saying while she’s moving, I’ve gotta get this shot it is so cool. This is just one of many. She has one of the sun setting that blows you away. She got ontop of their (her and her brothers) play structure to capture it. I picked this one because of what she said about flying! Thank you we are having a great weekend, hoping the same is true for you!
Thanks for sharing this…Emma is indeed a fine inspiration. A blessing and beauty in and out. You are blessed to have her
Yes I am boomie, and I cherish her with all my heart! Thank you, it is my extreme pleasure to share. 🙂 She told me her friends think I look to young to be her grandma and that she thinks of me as a soul sister (so sweet) I told her I thought that was wonderful but I love being her grandmother too! 🙂
Ha ha ha bless her sweet heart. You sure look young and very well, so she is so right on that 🙂
Thanks but I wouldn’t trade my grandmother status for ANYTHING! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend with your lovely ones boomie! 🙂
Absoutely! Yes i am, shipped the girls off to bed early because the missed their naps…trying to clear some poems from my email, read a bit and then it’s off to bed :). Thank you for asking.
Your beautiful Emma is an inspiration to ME. Thank you Penny for sharing her photo and artwork.
Thank you, my friend. It is a sincerely pleasure for me to share her bounty of creative energy and talent with others. She inspires us daily. 🙂
As I go to bed, I think what a wonderfully blessed family you have. I have spent the majority of the evening (for me) talking to your daughter, and I think that they are an exceptional family which is down to how you have brought their mum up. Emma sounds like she is going to grow up to be a great girl as well. Great artist, and awesome photographer 🙂
Thanks, yes I am gifted with my family! Good night Mondrak, sleep well! 🙂
