First Snow – The Coming of the Winter Fairy
There had been, for the last few days, a crisp coldness to the air – sharp and tangy. the smooth pastel grey of the overhanging clouds, so close you can almost touch them.
I think snow is on the way and this means the arrival of the Winter Fairy.
~
She makes her entrance with no sound at all while all of us glory in the beginnings of the majestic beauty of quietly falling snow.
~
It makes no difference if you’re a child or an adult, there is something so magically beautiful, exciting and peaceful about watching the first snow flakes fall.
~
And then get thicker and larger falling in abundance all around, covering the landscape with fresh wintry snow.
~
It is a happy feeling.
~
So white, so beautiful, so heavenly – The first snow and the coming of the Winter Fairy.

Thank you for stopping by, hope your week is being a good one for you,
~ Penny

I love the Winter Fairy!
Thank you very much Mike! I do appreciate your visiting my blog, Penny 🙂
Beautiful Penny, I absolutely love the snow and we get so little of it here in Ireland 😦
Ireland is so very beautiful though. Truly one of the places I’ve always wanted to visit. The people also to meet! 🙂
I agree Penny 🙂 Hopefullly you will get here one day, and when you do give me a shout, and we could have a good ole chat 🙂
I like that! Yes! That would be outstanding Claire! 🙂 I have a little something in the works but I’m not sure yet, will keep you posted though, something more to look forward to. 🙂
Eve the romantic, love your drawing, this whole post reminded me of a book I read as a child (name sadly forgotten), I was enthralled by it and this post has brought back some happy memories, cue long and fruitless search for an unknown book.
although it is very rare to snow here ,,, but i do feel the same thing when winter knocks. then why in films and movies they always point to sadness by the a winter scene … just wondered !!!
very nice post Penny … thank you
You are very welcome Amany, thank you, Penny
Did you get the snow?
Not yet, just the cold, brrrrr weather! 🙂
Nice photos!
Thank you very much! 🙂
I love the first snow falls. As you say, looks magical.
I love that picture. It is wonderful.
Thanks Alastair, What’s the weather like over there right now?
It’s warming up. I went out with a lighter coat on today and wished I hadn’t worn a jumper. Although as soon as the sun goes down, so does the temperature. It’s currently sitting at 7°C/45°F and it’s 19:46 here. So will go down a few more degrees yet. Not as cold as it should be now though.
I remember 1987 (the year we had the hurricane) I was working in MacDonald’s in October, and I was going in the freezer to cool down. Then November 1st, it snowed!!
Good ol’ mother nature, that winter fairy is unpredictable isn’t she? 🙂
She definitely is. Although when the snows hit here, they are glorious. Because where I live is pre-Victorian, the roads are still that way and it makes the road look like it has gone back in time. I thought I had used a photo this year, but I haven’t
I’d love to see how that looks!
Just sorting it now 😉 Need to shrink them down a bit. They’re too large at over 6mb each
🙂
On their way to you now 🙂
🙂
AnElephantCant deny that winter
Is the season of magic and mystery
He has plans to sleigh
On a crisp sparkly day
With his own very special winter fairy
Beautiful image
I do have to say that the image of anelephantcant on a sleigh, much less with another conjures up quite the picture! 🙂
AnElephantCant deny it sounds freaky
But it just requires trust from his fairy
He is a bit of a hunk
So he just wraps his trunk
Around her to ensure her safety
Of course he does (picture slapping side of head) why didn’t I think of that? lol
AnElephantCant help thinking that Penny
Is probably smarter than the average bear
But does her circle of chums
Include pachyderms
Or is there a shortage of his sort out there?
There can never be too many pachyderms in this world. Elephants most definitely a favorite animal, since I was a child! 🙂
Ah, Penny, I love your Winter Fairy! I hope she treats all beings [living outdoors] with kindness…
xxxxxxxxxxx
🙂
She’s a mystery lady. I hope so too! Thank you Marina, how is the weather over there right now, I’m guessing warming than where I am? 🙂 xox
Chilly but no snow yet. It’s a bit early. Our winter gets more “serious” around January & February. I’m not a great fan of snow… ever since I started growing my own plants [many years ago] and lost quite a few of them to frost. I must look like a mad person going out and speaking words of encouragement to the plants when it snows! 😆
xxxxxxx
I can imagine this (yes lol) But I’m sure it warms their little plant hearts. 🙂 When I carefully clean leaves on indoor plants or when I water them I talk to them also! : 🙂
🙂 nice
Thank you very much! 🙂
There she is!
Actually I wanted to post so this is the not quite finished product, had to add some more blue to her outfit but real life intruded (how rude lol) so will probably update with the finished one. But this is her in essence! Thanks Alice!
A great drawing Penny. She is a woman so I don’t question her strength or her tenacity, although I’m not certain she can fly all the way to So. Cal. If it starts to snow here, I will have to admit I have underestimated her (hehe). 🙂
a lovely one:)) sadly there is no snow here and no fairy either….
I’ll try to convince here to head over there (just briefly lol). 🙂
that would be great:))
Oops I said here instead of her, but I guess you understood me anyway lol. 🙂
that’s okay..yes, I got it:)))

Winter fairy, you are so beautiful and heavenly. Please stay far away from my neck of the woods lol.
I am so sorry boomie, I was just saying to Rosy I will try to keep her here, but she does fly and I think she may be headed your way, sorry dear friend, I will try to delay her though! lol
She can come only on Christmas lol
Okay will pass along, but she’s female, not sure she’ll hear me if she doesn’t way too! 🙂
Magical!
I love the sparkle of the snow & that fairy is beautiful!
But – the Cccold — Brrr…
I’d like to put in a request to the Winter Fairy to not rush things. Please hold for winter…pretty please… 🙂
xx 🙂 🙂 xx
Thanks Rosy, I’ll try to keep her here, but I think she’s headed your way, sorry 😦
Absolutely lovely! I love the first snow fall and every one after that too!
Me too! Isn’t it just a wonderful feeling when the snow is falling? 🙂
I am hoping to film it when it comes down with those big flakes to show all how beautiful Mother Nature can be in action! 😉
Oh I can’t wait. If the flakes are large enough that will be a glorious catch! 🙂
I have always believed there was a winter fairy – now I know what she looks like… We have the rain fairy in Vancouver – and she was out today spreading her cheer. I call it liquid sunshine…
Thank you. Yes indeed, I grew up in Oregon, I believe the rain fairy lives between our two places lol!
🙂
Beautiful pictures…livingin So Cal for the past 38 years I have not seen too much snow…but it is so magical isn’t it?!!!!
Yes it really is, at any age I find, isn’t that just wonderful? 🙂
OH PENNY this is breathtakingly beautiful! takes my breath just as that crisp clean air..we got a touch on Sunday and nothing since 😦 I so love the winter…wonder if that has anything to do with being born and raised in Colorado hmmmm a ponder. LOL Love ya friend xx (Hugs))
Thank you Len, The first snow is so very magical isn’t it? I’m sure it does have something to do with being raised in Colorado. 😉 ((hugs))
🙂
Beautiful and Stunning as always! 🙂
Thank you Roxi, very much! 🙂
