Happiness …

Infinite Possibilities

So there I was drinking my daily smoothie (energy drink – I’ll share the recipe at the end of the post!) and thinking about the topic I was going to write about – Happiness.

I glanced at my smoothie (half gone) and the analogy “Is your glass half empty or half full” came to mind. I recalled reading the following comment in a twitter last night.

“My glass is half full because I can’t be bothered

to get a refill!”

The words stayed with me. I wondered how many times in our life an opportunity has passed us by because we couldn’t be bothered. I’ve heard the expression that luck happens to those who are busy making it happen, but that one never really sunk in.

This one did. I think because I’ve been a person who has always tried to see a glass half full (although the glass did get misplaced a time or two lol).

So this is a little different. Perhaps the glass should be thought of as something to be filled, not just the half way perspective, perhaps overflowing even ,,, now that’s a thought to think on!

A happy One! Have a great day ~ Penny

My Smoothie:

  • Two peeled frozen bananas (broken up)
  • a handful each of 2/3 kinds of fresh/frozen berries
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (plain)
  • 25 grams of whey protein (or other if allergic)
  • 1/4 cup water

Pretty much I put the above items into a blender in the same order

as listed and then blend until well mixed! Enjoy, it does taste good!

And it is very good for you (an added bonus) πŸ™‚

  2. Penny…. Being an engineer it is obvious to me that the glass is too large.

Forgive me, I couldn’t resist tossing that in the mix. I do enjoy your thought provoking messages.

I have just returned from hiking a few days in the mountains and strolling along babbling streams in the valleys. Wonderful time for reflecting and contemplating.

    • Your right Ron, the glass is too large (an engineer would notice those things of course)! isn’t it great? More to fill up lol! Seriously thank you for the visit. I do envy you your hiking and communing with nature (…these are a few of my favorite things)! thank you for the compliment it is appreciated by me! Penny

  3. Seeing the title of this immediately made me think of one thing… and it’s a testament to the power of advertising… Happiness… is a cigar called Hamlet… (your English readers will get that πŸ˜› )

  4. I have a couple of overflowing glasses & love it! I have a few more I could have full & overflowing – but – sometimes I’m just too tired or don’t want to be bothered. And – yes – there are some empty glasses too. Some drinks I simply can’t afford πŸ˜‰

  5. I have a mentor who is in her mid 80’s. A psychologist and educator, she tirelessly worked to support the needs of children who experienced mental health issues. I accompanied her when she was getting a lifetime achievement award. One of the speakers talked about the glass and water as it related to Jean. “Some people look at the glass of half empty, some look at the glass half full. Jean looks at the water and gives it to those who are most thirsty.

    • Clan mother that is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard, ever. I do not say that lightly. The perfect analogy of all for the glass and the water it holds. What an amazing woman Jean must be. Thank you for sharing this. I must add she is someone I would love to meet!

      • She is – that is the wonderful thing about connections. They make us realize how really amazing our lives truly are – and all because we have those wonderful moments when we are with people who give themselves to the task of creating places where people gather to share and encourage. And that is what you have done….

        • Thank you very much Clanmother, I am flattered and honored by your words. I share out of a love of life and people, if it makes a positive difference for even one then I am well satisfied.

  6. This is an amazing post. I totally agree that the glass should be overflowing and have often wondered why no one has said that before. We need to create the future we desire and we need to work hard at it because our future is in our hands.

    • Thanks, we share the same outlook I think LuAnn. I like to experiment with smoothies also. This one is my – in a hurry back up – one because if you throw fruit beginning to get over ripe in the freezer, it only takes a short period of time to put it all together and get that fuel your body really needs in an easy way! Sending love your way today my very special friend, Penny πŸ™‚ xox

    • Please do boomie, it really doesn’t take long at all and it has great stuff in it – covers most of the nutritional needs, especially micro-nutrients! You have a great day also my friend, πŸ™‚ xx

  7. I eat some of those very same things but have never bothered to mix them and fill up my glass. πŸ™‚

Glass half full half empty? I see people trying to fill their cup with too many of the wrong ingredients. 😦 Not to judge I guess if it makes them happy.

    • I’m guessing that happiness will always be an illusive thing Meme, much like bubbles that children blow, wonderful in the moment and then gone until the next one. Still makes life interesting! πŸ™‚

  8. You know, I like your angle, that the glass should be thouhgt of as something to filled. That is excellent and so inspirational. I tend to be pessimistic most of the time because of painful experiences growing up. It goes without saying that blogging has released me from some of my fears. Thank youi, Penny, as always. πŸ™‚

    • My pleasure Celestine, sometimes I think the biggest (little) devils inside our minds are our memories of very bad moments in our life, especially if we were children when they happened! I agree Blogging is a very good and healthy thing for us (sharing and learning while we grow closer together as a people). Love to you this evening dear friend, Penny πŸ™‚ xx

  9. I saw something the other day that I thought was a good point even though it was aimed at being humour. The glass is always full. Half liquid, half air πŸ™‚

I do like that note πŸ˜€

Thank you for your thoughts!
