It is your life. You are the one that breathes in and out of your body every day. You are the one who should be choosing what you plan to do with it, or are doing with it. Are you?
In the following movie clip from Aliens the heroine “Ripley” definitely encounters more things than we can ever imagine having to cope with in our lives.
But there is a point here. When something needs to be done. She does it. She makes the decision she needs to make and makes them count! It’s worth a reminder.
We may not be facing aliens but every day we face all sorts of things to be dealt with. Our choices, our life. Decide and then make it happen. It is your life, go for it!
In the mean time enjoy probably the greatest sci-fi heroine ever! And yes, she definitely owns her life!

Thanks for visiting me, I hope you have a great week,

Awesome film – and you like Blade Runner too?! Have I ever told you how much I love you, Penny?
Now, in single words, tell me only the good things that come to mind about… your mother…
Have a better one π
Yep, my favorite movie. Did you know that Blade Runner was one of the first movies on DVD? The final cut (2007) though is the best! You too Richard π
It was my favourite too, for the longest time. I can’t say that now because I think The Dark Knight ties for first place now LOL
Blade Runner was actually one of three DVD’s I bought when I first got a DVD player – the other two were The Matrix (just because it’s cool and it had a ton of extras) and Ghostbusters (because it was a highly rated DVD and I liked the movie)
There are a *lot* of subtle layers in Blade Runner that I love and that only reveal themselves upon repeated viewings… like the eye motif and the fact that the replicants really are “more human than human”…
…and seriously, Ridley Scott has an amazing talent for creating totally immersive worlds. Not just Blade Runner, Alien and Prometheus, but also films like Gladiator π
Have you seen the Workprint? Or the 2 hour Dangerous Days documentary? Very interesting stuff…
Can’t wait for the sequel when it finally arrives π
This video is for you…
fat kid from goonies
π
Thank you Charlie.
You’re very welcome.:)
That movie still gives me nightmares. Yikes. When the alien comes out of the guys stomach. Yikes.
Triple yikes, I agree. When I saw the first movie Alien I had nightmares for ages. It scared the daylights out of me!
I wish I could afford more of it. May as well enjoy it & own it while we can because we never know when our time will end.
Have a wonderful week! xx π π xx
That is the hard part isn’t it Rosy! Here’s for our doing the very best we can, as you say, while we can dear friend! Yours also, good, better, best! π xox
Ripley does have a compelling way of doing things, if I had a gun I could get many more things done, I’m sure I would find more time to write in gaol.
An excellent point. I wouldn’t have a gun in my home, but in her case, it seemed like a really good idea to get the job done!
[ Smiles ] This is a great one, Penny.
Thank you Renard!
Not bad for … human.
I’ve got to watch that film again now. I love all four of those films. Aliens is still one of the few that I give 10/10 to.
The fact that it has the music from one of my favourite bands is a huge plus. That track is going to feature on my Music of the Day in the near future. Due to the video content, maybe I should make it 21st December π
I know it is a film and it is the script, but if you look at it, when Newt is taken by the aliens, she could have just said “sod it” and abandoned the place. After all – Newt dies anyway between 2 and 3, but she went and saved her, and then the immortal line “get away from her you B**CH!”
And there is still talk of Alien 5 π
Aliens is one of my favorite sci fi movies, right after Bladerunner! π
It’s awesome π
Yes totally! π
I’ve yet to watch Prometheus. Apparently it’s a prequel
π
I’d have to think about that one! π
I brought it, I’ll tell you what it’s like after I have watched it π
This reminds me of some awesome advice by one of my favorite “teachers” Sylvia Boorstein. She suggests we “greet each moment as a friend.” I love that advice.
It is very good advice. For whatever the reason I am still on this planet. I have had more than 5 really close encounters with not being here. I never forget that or take anything for granted ever. Her advice is solid!
I have this little mouse that keeps making my choices for me.
I wish I had a little assist in that area myself! π
I was thinking of the little mouse that sits on its mouse pad. Always choosing the computer for me no matter how much I resist.
yes, we have to make the choices and decisions on what is best for us..a lovely post
Thank you Padmini. Some are easier than others (choices). Still necessary to make though, sigh! And some are very very good! π
AnElephantCant agree more
It is your life and you have to go for it
Only one thing is worse
Than AnElephant’s verse
That is to look back and have nothing to show for it
Very very true. Life is short – live wide! π
Great post. It goes in line with either deciding how you would like to live the rest of your life, or whether to keep blaming issues from the past for who you are now. It’s all a choice.
Yes, very well said Molly. Indeed very well said! π
and here I am one among you be the first good morning how are you today, I wish you a day of pleasure
Hello Stefan. I am well thank you, I hope you are also. Thank you my dear friend for your warm thoughts! Penny π
