Not mine, Ute, but it is nice to share the wise words of others, or the interpretation of their words my friend. I hope your weekend was of a fun and relaxing kind! xx
Wisdom and fear… Perhaps wisdom is knowing what to be afraid of and then doing it anyway. Or not. 😉
Yes, you are correct emmy, I think, that’s exactly what it is! 🙂
My Dad used to say, “Wisdom is knowing what to say – and not saying it.”
Your dad was exceedingly wise. (p.s. – I think he passed it on to his daughter too) xx
…but I speak too much – (grin) Thanks anyhow!
Evening from Oz, Penny! *waving* I loved these, great post! Hugs Paula xxx
I see you waving Paula and I’m waving back! Both arms in fact! Hello my dear friend from so far away. Thank you, many hugs to start your Monday off with! xxxxxxxx
Haha! You made me smile, thank you! xxxxx
I was going through them thinking “Penny, Penny, Penny, Penny” lol Your experiences have made you a very wise woman Penny
No, not wise Alastair, just a fair amount of experience to draw upon. Perhaps I’ll be wise one day (one can hope), but now only a work in progress, dear friend! 🙂 xx
Yeah, you keep telling yourself that. We all know different already. You are a wise one, as well as inspirational. You are a definite must for anyone’s blogger collection 😉
These are good. I can’t stand slushy meaningless quotes (I did a whole post on the matter a few weeks ago!) but these are quite matter-of-fact and make good points. The only one I’m questioning, and maybe I’m missing the point (or just being too pedantic!) is ‘Wisdom is mutually incompatible to fear. In fact it’s what enables a person to overcome fear.’ That seems to imply that fear is always something wrong to feel; obviously it’s not good to fear everything and to let it cripple you from doing what you want to do, but fear is a necessary human survival feeling that tells us we might be in danger and need to act, so I don’t see how wisdom is mutually incompatible to it. I would say wisdom is more about recognising the difference between fear from real threats, and fear from imagined threats. Haha, sorry, I tend to over-analyse!
I agree with you. This was not worded as well as it could have been. Fear is a survival mechanism, absolutely necessary. As you say, wisdom helps to understand the nature of the fear and make better choices as a result. Thanks, you are very wise yourself. And I for one enjoy the company of women who have a mind and aren’t afraid to use it! Again my thanks Vanessa, much appreciated,
Thank you, I’m glad you didn’t take it as me just trying to be difficult!
Difficult can be a good thing (needed sometimes to get a point of view across) – all things being equal, okay some more than others, ha, ha! (Assuming you read between the lines here!)
🙂
