Seeing Eternity
They say on a clear day you can see forever. Perhaps this is so. But I think … if you’re high enough, viewing the world by looking out, over thick misty clouds stretching off into the horizon … perhaps you feel like you’re seeing eternity.
You stand there, poised above everyday problems, staring into a vast distance of possibilities and potentialities; this moment in time etched in your mind – one you’ll remember forever. The day you were high above the clouds, above doubts and fears, with the sense of belief … that perhaps you can.

It’s time for the fun and creativity of Friday Fictioneers. A group of international writers (clever and witty ones, I might add), who share their writing talent each week. Prompted by a photo they write a flash fiction (100 words approximately) for your entertainment and pleasure. Hosted by the very lovely Rochelle, this is a challenge to participate in – if you enjoy writing, and having fun! Click on the Friday Fictioneers link for more information!
If you enjoy reading, click on the links in the blue box collection.
Thanks for stopping by,
Have an excellent day and better tomorrow,
~ Penny
And once again you say it all in so few words.
Superb.
Thank you for your lovely compliment! xo

I like flying in an airplane…at that point where you can see clouds all around you. I remember reading somewhere that a pilot tooke photos of cloud formations that reminded him of soild objects. What a cool coffee table book that would be…
It would indeed, or what if we had a coffeetable that looked like a cloud … I like flying (in an airplane) too!
Very nice Penny. I do feel like I’m in a bubble of possibilities when I’m in the clouds.
Yes, me too. It’s a great feeling isn’t it?
Perfectly stated Penny, and in fact my favorite part of every flight I’ve taken is when you “bust through” those clouds to see nothing but brilliant blue (and possibilities) spread out before you.
Thank you Troy! Me too! 🙂
Inspiring and encouraging words, Penny. Well done.
Hi Honie, thank you, very much!
Very inspirational piece. Nice work.
Thank you Patti! 🙂
This is wonderful. To me there is just something about clouds that seem hopeful … encouraging. Maybe because they make everything seem so small when they are larger than life.
That makes excellent sense, they are aren’t they? I never thought of it quite that way, but you’re right. Yes larger than life, thank you!
You are most welcome.
reflective beauty Penny which the clouds inspire
Yes aren’t the clouds just simply wonderful, I’ve always felt sure I could just lay down on them, haven’t you?
“They,” being Barbara Streisand? Nice to be up in the clouds.
That works for me :)! Nobody does it better (Carly Simon lol)! Yes I agree with you Angie, thank you.
Simple and inspirational. Thanks for the lovely 100-word read.
My pleasure! Thank you for your lovely compliment, I sincerely appreciate it! 🙂
wonderful.. this really spoke to me.. i had my celebration up in the mountains… greens, clouds, hot spring.. it was so peaceful and beautiful and i felt that way “this moment in time etched in your mind – one you’ll remember forever” felt so great to distance myself from the world even for a while, makes one think of what really matters 🙂
Thank you kz, it is a great feeling isn’t it? I agree with you completely, your experience sounds like an excellent one! 🙂
Lovely penny, there is something memorable and unique about being above the clouds.
Thank you. I agree with you, somehow freeing! 🙂
Really nice. It’s so difficult to accept that those lovely fluffy clouds are not tangible. Well done.
I agree Sandra, even as an adult there is a part of me that seems sure we should be able to walk on them. The desire is there, that’s for certain, lol! Thank you.
I need to get some sleep…
I read: “…But I think … if you’re high enough…”
& thought –
What – Penny doing pot? LOL
xx 🙂 🙂 xx
You know what is really interesting RoSy. When I lived in State College (home of Penn State U.) I went to a party and of course had to gave it a try! Guess what, I’m allergic to the stuff (my throat closes up). Luckily as I spoke with those who were (high) we discovered (to their astonishment) that I go to that place naturally, with my view of life and nature. So I guess I am on a natural high! 🙂 xo
Great write, Penny! Wanted to add a little note for you: Hubby is being transported to a rehab facility in our home town tomorrow. Day 77 ends his critical care hospital confinement!
Fantastic Sharla, absolutely wonderful! He is healing and you will be getting some much needed r and r from your daily drive! So very happy for you! All my love, excellent news! 🙂 xo
Hugs! 🙂
🙂 huge hugs!!!!
Dear Penny,
Lovely descriptions infused with hope.
shalom,
Rochelle
I like the feeling you conjured up here, Penny. It’s like the feeling I get when I’m on a plane on a cloudy day and then the plane breaks through the clouds, showing me the sun (which my mind knew was there but didn’t feel real until the plane came out into the sunshine.)
janet
Yes exactly janet! Thank you! 🙂
Inspirational, Penny. Thanks.
HI Kent, thank you. Clouds do that to me! 🙂
I love the way you connected forever and eternity.
Hi Dawn, thank you very much! Easy to go there when looking at clouds, don’t you think! 🙂
Heavenly, yes.
How so lovely described Penny, floating amongst the clouds, soaring high into the stratosphere and far beyond 🙂 When I return properly around the end of this month I might just pop into the Friday Fictioneers and see what it is all about 🙂
I hope that you are enjoying a fine week so far Penny 🙂
Andro xxx
Hi Andro, thank you my friend! I hope you do (re: Friday Fictioneers, some great writing and lots of fun too!)
I hope you are not working too hard, and I am enjoying my week, okay it’s a little too busy, but other than that, most excellent! 🙂 xx
This is just wonderful, Penny (and so inspiring) 😀
Hi Dianne! Thank you, very much! I hope your summer is being good to you and that you are getting in some creative writing time, along with your work time (on your home)! 🙂
Nice one Penny! I love how you have depicted that feeling of empowerment we wish we’d fell more often.
Thank you Gabriella, I could spend all day looking at clouds and from a view up on high, to me it is almost magical!!!
That is so beautiful.. how sometimes we just want to float away like these clouds, away from the world of fear and insecurities.
Thank you. That is the feeling one gets sometimes, isn’t it HA!
