Give yourself permission; enjoy nature, explore and create.

“Hello Mr. Bee! Whatcha’ doing?”
*

I slept in this morning (yes!). I’ve had a lot going on recently, nothing negative, just busy. But I haven’t been sleeping well. I’m rather a nut about staying balanced in my life so I’ve been frustrated over my inability to sleep soundly lately.

I did all the “tried and true” methods with no success and then a few days ago I sat quietly by myself and considered – everything! And then I moved the things on my agenda aside (those I could) and went completely into artistic mode.

I gave myself permission to enjoy being creative, by first spending some time in the world of nature (maybe not as close up as this amazing photo of a dog and bee (LOL), still I did really immerse myself and then I began to sketch and draw, the results to be shown soon on a forthcoming blog!

And guess what? I am now sleeping like a log. Giving myself over to art and nature and then some private artisitc time did the trick. Helped me balance the rest of my “have-to” activities!

This weekend, give yourself permission to be! Both relaxed and creative. Your mind, body and soul will thank you for it!

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend~

~ Penny

  1. I have been an insomniac for far too many years but, the past few days, I have been sleeping soundly. For me, I think it has been the lightening of a load. πŸ˜‰

  2. I’m a balance freak too. I recently discovered that getting just a little exercise (I’m disabled to a little is more than most people think). I walk the perimeter of my entire yard. I can’t walk very fast but that’s okay. While I walk I enjoy the scene of the woods behind the yard and the two gardens I have. Yes, I am sleeping a little better. Isn’t it peculiar what a little nature can do?

    • Peculiar and excellently wonderful Glynis. I’m glad I’m not alone in the “balance of things”. lol. Moving is good, fast is not necessary or even desirable from our bodies point of you, so good for you my friend! πŸ™‚ xx

  3. AnElephantCant stay up too late
He tends to sleep somewhat like a log
He is glad you are rested
    And is most interested
In viewing the drawings on your forthcoming blog

Because he knows they will be great!!!!

    • Yes he does (sleep like a log).Thank you most kindly. And I posted my creation for view this morning, combining a haibun with my art (for the fun of it – imagination enlarged upon!) πŸ™‚ xo

      • I am quirky and I have learned to live with my insomnia rather than fight against it. I enjoy being hyper and meditation, calm and slow things don’t make me happy. I get more things done by being awake more. When I am asleep for too long I can have bad dreams so it does put me off. If I had my way, I would work from home and go to bed at 4am, wake up between 12- 1pm, doing some shopping etc and start work again at 6pm. This is what worked very well for me when I was not working last year but because I have a day job now, I can’t do that. Hopefully I can eventually be a full-time writer and work from home so I can do this.

        • You sound exactly like the perfect you Sandra. The best way to be! Wouldn’t want you to be any different dearest friend! Keep on with what you’re doing you will become the full-time writer and work from home – I have great confidence and believe in you! πŸ™‚ xo

              • I most definitely won’t. I believe in fate and even luck to a certain extent. I also believe that the power to change and shape our future, is within our own being. We have to find this power and nourish it, love it, enjoy it and let it flourish. Unless we are in a controlling relationship, which thankfully I am not because I am happily single, the only one holding us back is ourselves. I no longer hold myself back. I am on a slow and steady ride to my beautiful destiny, full of more amazing things that I never dreamt possible.

  4. Good to hear that you got your sleep groove back!
Nature always seems to do the trick when all else fails.
Looking forward to when you share your sleep therapy art πŸ˜‰

  5. That’s wonderful my dear friend! Amazing how powerful our very own little dictators whip us daily and forbid us to ‘smell the flowers’! What’s even more amazing is that once you decide to revolt, nothing bad actually happens! On the contrary. I’m so glad you decided to open the window to nature and creativity and trusted yourself to the hands of Morpheus! πŸ™‚ loveshugsandkisses all in one go! xxxx

  6. Something as simple as a small change can make the world of difference. Especially when that change involves being outside and doing something that you love. I am glad you are sleeping better now. It must have been bliss to sleep and then wake up fully refreshed. Enjoy your day Penny

  7. That is exactly what I needed to hear today Penny. After a extremely busy and hard week I do also really need to relax and sleep well. Thank you for reminding me here and I will tomorrow relax and enjoy the day! WE have evening now, so also early bedtime…. Good night ! β™₯

  8. Lovely piece Penny. I wish creativity gave me a better nights sleep, I rely on a small half tablet, gives me the best rest I’ve had in ages. But you are right immersing yourself in your art is a fulfilling process. I look forward to seeing what you have created

Thank you for your thoughts!
