Sometimes, someone (unexpectedly) gets it absolutely correct! I applaud Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas Sportscaster, Dale Hansen for getting it 100% correct with his commentary regarding Michael Sam and the people of our country because THAT’s what this country is all about – An excellent reminder to celebrate the rich diversity of our cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs! This is truly what makes us great!

I saw that the other night. Hansen is quite a jokester, but his “Unplugged” commentaries are very blunt and unpretentious. He’s right, though, and I’ve always wondered why the popular media and sports fans look indifferently at pro athletes who get involved in drunk driving crashes, use illegal drugs, breed like rabbits on Viagra, or beat their wives or girlfriends. But, suddenly a homosexual appears in the locker room, and they panic! It’s a freakish double standard.

Couldn’t agree more. Sadly it is not often that we can feel pride in a fellow Texan for doing the right thing when it comes to respecting diversity. And Hansen truly is doing the right thing here!!!

I love the way that this guy addresses differences.
It is not our differences that divide us, it is our inability to recognise, accept and celebrate those differences.
Wow! That was just spot on! That guy is brilliant for coming out and saying that. Well, he didn’t come out, Michael Sam did but you get my meaning.

Very good points all, it’s disgusting the pathetic excuses that people use to exclude others. Sport as anything else should be taken on merit and people should be taken on how they treat others. I wonder if a zero tolerance approach to breaking the law was applied to representing country, school and anything else in between how much more respect these role models would garner and how much better the world would be.
I completely agree with you SteJ. One can hope and dream and of course speak out as we and others are. A very good thing! xx
