Celebrate the Difference – YES!

Sometimes, someone (unexpectedly) gets it absolutely correct! I applaud Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas Sportscaster, Dale Hansen for getting it 100% correct with his commentary regarding Michael Sam and the people of our country because THAT’s what this country is all about – An excellent reminder to celebrate the rich diversity of our cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs! This is truly what makes us great!

Thank you Dale!

  1. This is some of the best commentary I have heard in a long time. I applaud anyone who has the courage to stand up in a public forum and speak so candidly about a subject that could have repercussions for him. Wish this kind of talk would become more the “norm”. Thanks for posting this Penny. πŸ™‚

  3. Wow – I agree with you Penny. That is brilliant!

Hopefully we live to see the day when there is no need to discuss this anymore. – Instead we can spend our time celebrating our differences – or in other words, the oneness in diversity!

Thank you for sharing – and much love,
    Steffi

  4. I saw that the other night. Hansen is quite a jokester, but his β€œUnplugged” commentaries are very blunt and unpretentious. He’s right, though, and I’ve always wondered why the popular media and sports fans look indifferently at pro athletes who get involved in drunk driving crashes, use illegal drugs, breed like rabbits on Viagra, or beat their wives or girlfriends. But, suddenly a homosexual appears in the locker room, and they panic! It’s a freakish double standard.

    • Hi Alejandro. I knew you’d agree my friend. How wonderful it would be if this wasn’t the current situation. I’m hopeful to see more people realizing “what’s wrong with this picture” and act on it, in a positive way. Thank you! xx

    • I had to share this one Kenley, he was so “right on” with his words! Not surprised you agree, I happen to think there are a whole bunch of excellent Texans out there, and I’m proud to say I know a few (including you of course!) πŸ™‚

  5. Reblogged this on A Mixed Bag and commented:
I love the way that this guy addresses differences.

It is not our differences that divide us, it is our inability to recognise, accept and celebrate those differences.

  6. Wow! That was just spot on! That guy is brilliant for coming out and saying that. Well, he didn’t come out, Michael Sam did but you get my meaning.

I liked the way he used the woman beater, drugs, violence, criminals – which are all crimes. Well done to Dale. Going to reblog this if you don’t mind.

  7. Very good points all, it’s disgusting the pathetic excuses that people use to exclude others. Sport as anything else should be taken on merit and people should be taken on how they treat others. I wonder if a zero tolerance approach to breaking the law was applied to representing country, school and anything else in between how much more respect these role models would garner and how much better the world would be.

  8. What a brilliant piece of journalism!
AnElephant joins Penny in applauding Dale Hansen and trusts that the USA and its football community embrace Michael Sam as he undoubtedly deserves.
    Good luck to him.
