I’m just one American – A letter to the President of our great country, USA!

“Dear Mr. President Obama,

This is Penny, yes one of your constituents. I’m having a problem right now, along with most of us other 300 million citizens.

I’m just one American out here in Washington state … but I’m worried. I’m hoping you can help me understand what’s going on.

As I was taught (in school) about the governing process (in our democratic country), our wise founding fathers  set up a counter system of checks and balances to make sure that each branch could (if needs be) check the actions of others. This was done to insure that no part of the government had too much power.

And as I understand it, each of our elected representative’s main job is …

DEFINITION OF Elected Representatives (Senators, Congressmen): Those individuals voted to REPRESENT their local constituents (me and others)

… to help (the duly elected (voted for) TWICE President of the U.S.A. – that’s you) GOVERN our country.

“So WHY, Mr. President is one tiny group of Elected Representatives (see definition up above) in fact one person in particular … holding our Government and the people of the Great United States of America hostage?

Usurping his own elected position by carrying out his own private agenda at the wishes of a very few other people. And doing this at the expense of the American people – BY STOPPING THE GOVERNING PROCESS ITSELF!

Please, answer me. I need an answer. More to the point, I need you the chosen leader of this country to figure out what to do! Soon!”

Thank you,
Very troubled in Washington,
Penny L Howe

(Just Penny’s “two cents” worth here)

… and yes I am fully cognizant and aware (politically) of what’s ‘actually’ going on, how it happened, and why. I am being focused with my letter to the President to create (hopefully) a stronger message! I love my country and fellow Americans (all of you) very much, Thanks, Penny

Singing Stones – A sensory lesson!

Each day, much sensory information is lost to us, even though we do have the capability to sense our b onesurroundings more fully than we currently do. Each person’s level of awareness is influenced by individual skills, our genes, environment, and our personal previous experiences.

Learning to better understand our full sensory “potential” will help us interpret our environment more accurately. It is a good thing to know that each of our senses do not work independently of one another. Science has proven sensory integration takes place in the brain.a one

Scientific research has also shown that the brain never stops changing and adjusting to its environment. We now know the brain can “reprogram” itself.

This ability is important for acquiring new knowledge, for compensating for deficiencies that result from age or injury, and for enhancing our life experiences.

So to help you reprogram a little – Did you know that rocks (solids) absorb sound; those vibrations and frequencies that travel through air and water (gases and liquids -to simplify things here). According to scientists, rocks or stones also resonate.

There are certain rocks (sonorous rocks) that have the property of ringing like a bell when struck (which we can hear). Other rocks resonate too, we just don’t hear these series of tones. The frequencies are lower than the human ear can hear, but our body still senses the vibratory sounds they make.

Your sensory lesson for today. Go find a stone. Ideally near a water source or a mountain side. But one in a meadow or barren desert will also work. Hold it in the palm of your hand for a period of time.

You’ll find yourself wanting to rub the stone and no, nothing magical or mystical is going to happen … but … as frequencies go, the warmth of your own body’s chemistry (and energy) coupled with the resonating vibrations from the stone will play a soothing song that both your body and mind will sense – a calming experience!

Go on give it a try! Not magic, just science. (Or as Einstein would say – perhaps a bit of both!)

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by,

~ Penny

The Furies! The elements of our nature!

h

Tisiphone, Megaera and Alecto, in Greek mythology are the three Furies. Also called the Daughters of the Night.

Without mercy, the Furies would punish all crime including the breaking of rules considering all aspects of society. They would strike the offenders with madness and never stopped following criminals. They wereh also the guardians of the law when the state had not yet intervened or did not exist, or when the crime was a crime of ethics and not actual law.

For example, they would protect beggars and strangers, punish those who stole the birds’ young and even look out for the dogs. Originally said to be horrible to look at, they changed into the Eumenides, protectors of the suppliant, after Athena made them spare the life of a murderer.

The other place we hear repeated reference to the use of the word “fury” is with Mother Nature.

hMother Nature’s Fury is like none other, as we’ve all seen or been ample witness to!

The elements of nature and human emotions can be both gentle and harsh and while the word “fury” originated from mythology, the core meaning has never really changed, that of an extremely violent action or reaction.

Today too many of us are purely reactionary, that is to say we react to what we read or see without first giving thought to the “truth” of it! If you multiple this reactionary mentality to the hundreds of millions who may be viewing the same media information as you then you can see where this might lead to bigger and badder problems.

It is too easy for each of us to accept at “face value” second handfile000876988804 information and then go to a “bad place” and emotionally over react to a situation or circumstances, in turn making a situation that much worse.

Or so it seems to me. Try for a little emotional balance when presented with new information. Don’t make someone else’s fury yours. Take some time to consider if what you are innocently reading or viewing is true and even then consider carefully how you respond.

A great saying is “Are you part of the problem or part of the solution”. Don’t let an emotionally passionate and reactionary mode dictate your “action”. And if you do act on something, try for it to be a good thing. Part of a greater good and positive solution!

Choose to not be fooled, and be not a “FURY” but one of the “Protectors” in life! Always about choices!

Aging Well – The Fountain of Youth, Part 4

Tomorrow will be the 5th and final post about aging well. But today is THE BIG BOY! The ONE to really pay attention too. So listen up. Or read up, or focus, or whatever it is that you do when you’re actually reading for comprehension and enlightenment. I’m guessing on this one again, but you do occasionally read for better understanding, right? lol

So now if you’re really ready for the big secret to staying young here it is…

YOUR THOUGHTS

There, that’s it. The very first thing to greet you in the morning, the thing that hovers during the day and the very last conscious thing you are aware of before you go to sleep, your thoughts.

So what do you think? Can there really be anything more important in our daily lives than the thoughts we are thinking, NOPE! As in not a chance, nada, negatory, unuh, no way…Get my drift here. Your thoughts shape your actions which shape how you react to your day. So simple. (Oh no another one of those simple things she keeps talking about!)

We are the directors of our own life’s adventures (which can come at us fast and furious) we decided with our thoughts about how we are going to respond.

Our emotions are strong and they influence, more sometimes than we would wish, but the conscious and aware us is still the person that responds. Our emotions tell us how we feel about something, our thoughts give us direction on how we are going to respond.

Our thoughts are powerful. I will repeat this. Our thoughts are powerful. We will determine how we live our life by the action resulting from our thoughts. Always!

I’ve already spoken about “Attitude”. Our attitude is shaped by our thoughts. Aging is something that happens to all living things. This is a truth. But how we age is determined by ourselves.

As children our thoughts are filled with imagination, having fun and thoughts of tomorrow – our reference point – when we are young. As we grow we experience more in life and our thoughts regarding these  experiences continue to shape us.

Nothing is more responsible for the shaping of our destiny than our thoughts. They determine where we are going and how we are going to be on our life’s journey.

To age well, I believe it is best to allow your thoughts (as a director would) the freedom to be a child again filled with imagination and fun and hope. Allow your thoughts to think well of yourself and others.

Turn your thoughts away from what is wrong and think thoughts of what is right. Do not let the bad experiences in life slow you down, or stop you. You alone can determine this. You and your thoughts!

And yes, I do truly know of what I speak. And it is true. With much love to each and every one of you, Penny,

Are You Listening?

We’ve become a culture of viewers, watchers, readers and responders…But are we really listening? Really? Everything that happens today is instant, immediate, fast action, fast forward, abbreviated, and then we move on to the next quick thing. Tiny little bits of information – ‘many’ tiny little bits of information – are being scattered around and passed back and forth. Sound bites, short videos, newstreams, streamfeeds, downloads, uploads. The information is endless and overwhelming. Is there even time to – listen?

Some thoughts to consider,

Listen TO your heart

If its racing and you aren’t running in a marathon then stop what you are doing, take several slow deep breaths and relax your mind and body before continuing on!

Listen WITH your heart

When something or someone strikes you in a sincere and personal way. Respond! Be involved. Care. Make a difference.

Listen to your Elders

Hear their words. They’ve already been where you’re going. They can make a difference for you and you for them.

Listen to your children

Hear and answer their questions. Take the time to really hear them and be there. They are the future.

Listen really, really listen. You may be surprised by what you hear!

Also for all of those amazingly wonderful people out there who commented with such compassion and understanding on my post from the other day…And Then She Waited, please visit Christina: http://reconstructingchristina.com/2012/08/13/something-wonderful-is-coming/ she has a few special words she would like to say to you!

Today is the first day in the rest of your life! I hope its a great one, Penny 🙂
