Sleep Silent Angel

weeping silent angel

Sleep, Silent angel, dry all your tears.
Rest, be at peace with so many fears.
Please don’t cry for our sorrows,
And our maybe tomorrows

… if we don’t get it right,
With our planet so in plight.

Sleep silent angel, do not cry for our grief
Spoiled sea, air and land,
fouled by a thief – yet in truth by our hand.

Do not cry for the loss and neglect and abuse,
Even as we do remain so obtuse.

Sleep silent angel, I beg don’t despair
We still are your people and though careless – do care.
Rest up your wings for tomorrow may bring

A renewal of hope with perchance a rebirth,
 of  loving and giving

on our home  – Planet Earth!

Dream On, You Intrepid Dreamer You … Dream On.

pavelguzenko

Painting by Pavel Guzenko

The stuff of dreams, ah now that’s the ticket to a positive entrance for your tomorrows. At least many would agree with this. I being among those who do believe in the importance of dreams. Day dreams, Night dreams and the Dream of dreams.

For those seemingly endless array of insecurities we either point out to ourselves or have pointed out to us by others we can still have our dreams and dreams are the stuff that hopes, potentials and possibilities are crafted from … always.

An abstract thought conceived from a hope or an idea appears first in the formation of a dream then (if allowed by yourself) slowly morphs into a loosely conceived game-plan followed up by a specific plan of action at which point there is the perspective and strong possibility of a go ahead signal (that also comes from within you, btw).

So dream on, intrepid dreamer, fill yourself with uplifting dreams and goals of a future you imagine, remembering that Imagination is truly the stuff (composition) of dreams and as previously mentioned, you can see where this may take you  – which is anywhere you want to go … if … you believe, really believe in yourself and your dreams!

I wish you most well this weekend. Enjoy, be at peace, follow your dreams and most especially be good to you!

with sincere affection,

~ Penny

The Fulcrum of Inspiration – Crafting Her Heart!

(7/20/08) New Orleans blacksmith artist Rachel David hammers part of a candle stick on the anvil at the Smartshop on a recent Sunday afternoon. David lives in the 9th Ward of New Orleans, onke of the areas hardest hit by Katrina. (John A. Lacko / Special to the Gazette)

Fulcrum: (noun) The support about which something turns. One that supplies capability for action.

*

She’d long since decided she was better alone

she felt that somehow it was wise,

Although longing for love that was missing

It stayed absent in any guise.

*

But when ent’ring her fulcrum of crafting

Inspiration soared forth from her dreams

unrequited love quite forgotten

As she crafted her heart to well-being.

A Rose – for the heartstrings you’ve attached to my heart!

rosestw

Heartstrings. We all have them. They attach themselves to more things than we realize. Affection, compassion and love develop from heartstrings and the nice thing about them is that while they are not visible to the eye, they are strong and occasionally tug on your heart to let you know they are there and firmly attached. My heartstrings for bloggers began shortly after I began blogging and have grown with the passage of time.

Since I’ve been in the blogging world (a few years) I have interacted with absolutely wonderful people. In general I’ve found most bloggers to be pretty amazing, creative and kind. I have made many friends from around the world. Friends that I cherish. A few aren’t blogging right now, involved with other life pursuits (and I miss you) and for those who are still blogging, well … you know who you are.

I feel as if we’ve known each other our entire life not just a period of time. And I feel love for you and I know it’s returned. Remarkable really when one thinks about us. Some of you live in different countries with different customs and life experiences and yet we are still drawn to one another and I so cherish our friendship.

This Rose is for you! I thank you with all my heart, for being you, for being my friend and for making my life fuller, richer and so much better for knowing you.

Thank you,

~ Penny

Haibun Thinking – A Mother’s Love … Endless!

A Mother’s Love

The distinction of being a mother, understood by almost every single female on this planet, is to be fore-sworn as needs be, in the protection of her children! She will stand strong with this understanding, as necessary, on this battling planet called Earth!

She will stand alone, if she must. But she will stand and if she is struck down then another female will come to take her place. She is a female and a mother and when none other will do – she will insure that … life goes on!

This week’s Haibun Thinking Writer’s Challenge is the writing of haibun using a photo or a drawing as the prompt. I have chosen the beautiful drawing by Anja for my prompt. This was probably the easiest haibun I have ever written because as a mother, who loved her mother and so forth and so on, I know the truth of the words I write (as it is found repeatedly in history and today around the planet).

For more information about how you can be a part of this weekly writers challenge click HERE! Join in! Try your hand at haibun writing. I know a few of you writers out there and I think you’d be great at this style of writing!

Hoping everyone’s week is proceeding in a positive manner, take care of you,

Bragging Rights! A Beautiful Painting!

Painting by Jeannette Andress copyright © 2014

In my family (if you recall the photo I recently posted) I have two wonderful sisters, each of whom I love and adore. Each are also very talented. Today my sister, Jeannette sent me a picture of her latest painting. She used a photograph taken by her son (an excellent photographer) of his children in a flower garden, as her models.

I’m sure you will agree with me this is one beautiful painting, and I am immensely proud of her. The photo is shown here with great pride and love.

Jeannette, my wonderful and beautiful sister you are exceedingly talented!

All my love to you,

Penny

The Artist

By Karpati Gabor2The Artist Creates

Regardless of age, situation or circumstance, the artistic quality shines through when an artist creates. How glorious to partake of the view from an artistic eye. How wonderful to enjoy the amazing beauty and fulsome imagination an artist presents.

Whether art be produced with pallet, brush and paint, by camera, music notes, the written word, or other creative rendering, an artist produces because he or she must and we the audience view their reflections of life because we equally must.

“To partake of beauty from the artistic soul

is to enhance our own awareness and understanding

of who we are and what we are capable!”

Penny L Howe, 2014

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve been being creative yourself (as all bloggers are inherently creative – I’ll take that as a given!) Remember to take time to take care of you! Your muse will thank you!

The Crafting of Words – An Art Form! Haibun Thinking #7

02-michelangelo-cherubsCherubs by Michelangelo

I dwell alone, existing in a solitary world drifting among various thoughts, not a vacuum but a potential happening. A dreamlike state, at flux within the flow of creating – determining potentialities with the formation of my words, perhaps stylized, perhaps distinctive, uniquely me. Poetic in prose, pleasing to the eye, original.

The crafting of words is an art form. And in essence, the same as any artist in the throes of creation, the different factor being only that of medium. But as for the rest, an artist at work.

Cascading possibilities stream endlessly through consciousness and I am reminded my personal pallet of verbal colors can be as expressively rich as a glorious spring day, corresponding adjective hues and nuances as numerous as the most vivid of rainbows viewed through moisture laden air after a summer storm.

My words will be like onto visual works of art, flowing in movement, a glorious symphony of expression, making known to you my thoughts and feelings in a manner that will move you as many artists do with their creations. It is, after all, what we do – we artists of the word.

My 800th Post! Thank you and what comes next!

Credit line: © Gloria Rosazza | Dreamstime.com

Thank You! The last post I published was my 800th post and with more than 75,000 visitors in the past year, I am more honored than I can say to have received the attention, comments and support from all of you!

In the last few months I’ve seen far more visitors than ever before and I can only thank my loyal supporters who have passed the word on about my blog as the reason for this increase. That these new readers then become followers is, as I mentioned, a sincere honor.

This has become a very busy time for me as well. As a side product of blogging, I have been asked to write a book (yes, the one that I’m way late on getting the final draft ready for) but I am also very busy with a couple of other things as well.

Numerous emails from other creative individuals have given me a new money making enterprise (who knew) assisting writers, musicians and other artisans with their “works in process” (at their request), helping through the planning stages of promoting their works! (I guess having a marketing background can help, lol!)

And finally my own personal projects! One of which is more research into the roots of the writing style of haibun from an historic and artistic perspective, along with the desire to pass this information on to others. Also to have some creative fun with this. I’ll continue to write pennyquotes for “A Penny For Your Thoughts” – as the muse takes me. Regarding my other projects, I’ll keep you posted on them too!

However, as a result of all the above, I will no longer be hosting or judging for Ye Pirate’s excellent “Ligo Haibun Challenge“. Instead, information for the Ligo Haibun Challenge will be found at the new website Haven of Haibun, where I will continue to promote the Ligo Haibun Challenge activities (and of course read all the wonderful entries). I will also be posting other “haibun happenings” as I discover them! The Haven of Haibun is in it’s infancy but if you’d like to check it out – and give me a hand in shaping it’s creative direction – click here!

As for “The Why About This” blog – this is my ‘online’ home and will always present the “me” that I am. I will continue to inspire, encourage and inform … always from the hopeful perspective of trying to make a positive and creative difference for the reader.

Once again my most sincere thanks to all of you. Some so very special to me (And you do know who you are!). All my very best, keep taking care of you,

And I’ll keep doing my very best to motivate and inspire – helping you to reach your own personal goals.

~ Penny
