Who You Think You Are … It Matters!

image

What do you think of yourself as a person? Seriously, come on be honest here, because unless you said I’m a happy and well adjusted individual who thinks of myself as a good person then you’re probably letting the past and other people dictate many of your feelings.

Truth is the following: it doesn’t matter who you were growing up as a child, or in school, if you were viewed as or thought yourself as unliked or unpopular – it doesn’t matter now. Unless you’ve decided to make it matter.

Because who you are deep inside – is the seed of you, of your potential and the possibilities of who you are meant to be. Everything else is an outside influence, you being the one to determine how to deal with them.

Anyone who decides their own self worth is tied into what others think is not seeing themselves clearly. A foggy view at best! Your self-worth is decided by you. All other things should factor in after you realize and accept this as your personal truth.

Our experience in life shapes and molds our character, another truth, however even if your life has been filled with negative circumstances and negative verbal input, it’s still you who decides what to do.

The only person you have to prove anything to is YOU, period!

And from where I’m standing you’re looking pretty terrific. You’re a great person with a huge, sensitive caring heart. The people who don’t realize this both past and present, (because they haven’t taken the time to get to know the real you), well that’s their loss … not yours.

So take another look at who you think you are. I believe the view is pretty amazing. The view of you, as it should be!

Hope your week started off well and keeps getting better. Remember … take care of you because if you aren’t well, you can’t be there for others, or effectively accomplish your own goals.

Accomplishing the Impossible!

image

Walt Disney once said “I’m doing the difficult today, tomorrow I’ll do the impossible.”

Was he crazy? No one can do the impossible. Or can they? Actually there’s  a bit of a dichotomy here. What he actually meant was “what appears to be impossible becomes possible – once accomplished.”

We all know of stories about ordinary people like you and I, who figure out how to do seemingly impossible things and become successful in the process.

I’m happy to share their secret here:
They believe in themselves.
They believe in their goal.
They never give up.

Okay, what impossible thing are you going to accomplish tomorrow?

You know the secret now, so there’s no one to stop you…

…Except yourself. Your life, your choice. Make it be what you want it to be … start with the impossible. You can do it!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great tomorrow and remember to always take care of you. If you’re not okay, you can’t be there for others.

With Affection,

“New” and what it does for you!

Nothing new under the sun or

… is there?

When you’re a child everything is new. Everything. And sparkling eyes look out at the world with wonder. It’s a new place filled with mystery and adventure and magic. Especially magic. All new and wonderful!

And then we grow up and life gets more serious; for some, sooner than for others, wonderment begins to fade until it does seem like there’s nothing new under the sun. But this isn’t true, not really.

Each day you awaken to a NEW day and a new you. And each thought you have (while others may have had it also) it’s a new thought for you. In this new year, how about bringing back some of the magic and wonder into your life? Throw out cynicism and lack of faith. Begin by believing in yourself and what you can do to improve things.

It is a new year and a new day. How about this new you waiting inside? How about a new attitude ~ One filled with gratitude, joy, laughter, lots of love and lots and lots of creativity and magic (those two go together)! Come on, you can do it.

Lets make it happen,

~ Penny

Sunday Photo Fiction – A Scary World Out There (in your head)!

Trapped in A Vortex of Negativity

“Hey, I tell you it’s a scary world out there.” Jerry said.

“I think it’s all in your head.” His best friend replied. The two were sitting in the warm den near the fireplace, mugs of coffee in their hands.

Paul waved toward the window. “Just look outside into the forest. It’s frightening. Weird sounds and I’ve heard people are going missing. Bad things are happening everywhere.”

“You’ve heard, yes. but has anyone actually been lost in our forest?” Paul held his fearful friend’s gaze with his own level one, waiting for the response and then he motioned to the window and the beautiful forest scene unfolding outside. “The sun is coming up, it’s going to be another great day. Enjoy the day Jerry, enough with this negative crap, already. There are always bad things going on somewhere, but no more so than at any time in history, maybe less.”

“Yes but they say…” As Jerry stopped for another drink of his coffee Paul interrupted him.

“They say, they say … it’s all in their heads too. You know what Jerry, I’m sick of all this.” He stood up banging his cup down on the table. “You all need to come to your senses. I’m going home.”

Jerry watched as his friend headed for the door calling out to him “It’s dangerous out there Paul, would you like me to walk with you to your house?”

Paul snorted, shaking his head sadly as he looked back at his friend before heading to the doorway, derisively adding “Jerry, I just live next door.”

Paul could be heard to mutter to himself as he slowly opened and then closed the door behind him. “An emotional epidemic, that’s what this is and it’s contagious, everyone thinking, saying and writing all these negative things. When will they see it’s all in their heads.  Thoughts are things and they’ve created this condition with their thoughts. They’re trapping themselves in a vortex of negativity.”

Setting An Example – the difference just one person makes!

Beautiful_Flowers

Set The Example

“Good will, caring regard, gentle words, loving deeds, peaceful actions – these then bring us closer to one another.” ~ Penny L Howe

Whether child or an adult, its human nature to watch what other people are doing in your vicinity. This means whether you’re paying attention or not, somebody else is probably paying attention to what you’re doing.

Children learn by example. From the time they’re old enough to move on their own, they will parrot their parents and siblings facial expressions, word usage and movements. Even as adults, many people mimic what others are doing.

More or less, everyday we all set an example based on what we do or don’t do! How we behave in a specific situation and so on.

So the obvious point here is what type of example are we setting?

Just by watching things unfold everywhere around the globe, I’m thinking we “all of us” need to work on this one. And more than just a little. Because its something each person can do, individually, to make a difference that matters.

Set an example that’s inspirational to others. One you can be proud of. One your family and friends can support and then duplicate. Starting with just one person – YOU!

A most pleasant weekend to everyone,

The Practice of Practicing!

It’s all about the practice of things!

I will not give in

I’ll practice each day,

no matter the problems

coming my way.

I’ll practice and practice,

I shall not fail.

Watch me go to it,

blazing my trail.

*

You can practice being successful, getting better and better at a thing or you can practice not doing much of anything at all, because in the end it is about practicing, repeating, improving upon, strengthening, over and over until it becomes a habit.

It doesn’t happen any other way.

*

So practice! Believe in your self! Set goals and then practice!

See yourself being successful! And don’t under any circumstances let anyone else stop you! Not ever!

Begin today. Create your own habit of practicing success!

Have an excellent week ahead,

~ Penny
