Your Self Fulfilling Prophecies – Are they Good or Bad Ones!

self fulfilling prophecies

How many of you begin your day with self depreciating remarks? Or statements about what’s going to go wrong today. Or all the reasons everything bad seems to happen to you. Or perhaps you say to yourself, “why bother to try? This person or that person is going to ruin my day!”

These type of thoughts and statements become self fulfilling the more you repeat them. You send a signal to your brain that says you can’t win, you can’t overcome and … that you think of yourself or your situation as a losing one.

First rule of being happy much less successful is to believe in yourself. Not because you’re going to go out tomorrow and conquer the world, but because where you are, right this minute is only temporary and you’re a good person who can ‘step by step’ move forward in a positive way, because you know you can. You believe in you.

What really, really helps the “step by step” process is to not tell yourself, ahead of time, why you can’t do something. Or blame a situation or a person for problems and circumstances. We all feel insecure and worried, even fearful at times. This is normal but it shouldn’t stop us from accomplishing our goals.

So today is a good day to start saying those self fulfilling things that support what you want to do. Things like “Today I’m going to get my tasks done regardless of what comes my way.” Or “I’m not going to let another person’s negative attitude or perhaps even rude bullying behavior affect me”. Or “Today I believe in me and someway, somehow I will do those things I’d planned to do.”

You positively reinforce your own mindset (thinking patterns of behavior) when your thoughts, words and action have a “can do” mentality. It will strengthen your resolve as well.

Try it. You’ll discover it really works. And by repeating daily, this can make a significant difference between success and failure. Remember you’ve only failed when you stop! Every other thing that goes wrong is just a temporary disappointment and a part of your ongoing learning experience.

Have a great day and … always, take care of you!

Peaceful Contemplation of Being Overwhelmed!

How’s it going?

The photo says it all.

Life can be so darn overwhelming you really don’t know what to do about it. So you do nothing except think and stew and worry and wonder about THE WHY ABOUT THIS!

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Actually its neither. It’s you experiencing “life in action” thing! Sometimes you can control what happens. But sometimes control slips away when the unexpected occurs. What matters is how you’re going to handle your own feelings!

You can rage about the “unfairness” except life has never been based on beingalone fair. A truth. You can pout and mope about the “why me … of it all”, except in all probability there are worse things happening to other people, everywhere. You just aren’t aware of them. Well, if those things don’t help – and they don’t – what is there left to do?

Summing it all up there’s one thing you can still do. It’s called the responsibility factor … that’s the really tough one. To get out of the river of being overwhelmed, the ocean of misery and so on you have to take action yourself. Be responsible for your own actions and attitude. Bring about the change you need … right now … make it happen … Go ahead … you can do it!

I’m cheering you on!

lonely by Penny L Howe, 2013

(yes the first two pictures are of me sitting in the Columbia river on a bench. A few of you have seen these pictures before. They’re from a little over a year ago. The river was flooding (obviously) and I decided to have a few pictures taken. It was spring and the water was melted snow thaw and frigidly cold. Took quite awhile to warm up my feet and legs, but still … got great shots!) 🙂

~ In the river of life, swim, wind surf, paddle your kayak, row your boat, do what ever it takes to keep your head above water! You make it happen. You do!

There is so much …

 … we can be.

power

~

There is so much we can do.

This means opening yourself up inside.

Taking Risks!

Sometimes great big ones!

BUT THE REWARDS ARE HUGE!

And we are so very capable!

LIVE YOUR LIFE

LOVE YOUR LIFE!

BE YOUR LIFE!

And then pass this love of life along,

by giving and sharing it with others.

Go back to my last post and watch the video of Astronaut Chris Hadfield just one more time. Look closely at his face. He is feeling the words he’s singing. Really, really feeling each word – because he “knows” the words he’s singing. He’s living those words with every ounce of his being, up there at the space station, in outer space! And that is what life is truly all about!

The living of it!

It is your life! And there is so much you can do and be!

NOW!

You can do this, I know you can!

I believe in you!

You should too!

Thank you for your visit!

Do something remarkable

remarkable

You can …

Do Something Remarkable.

Only one person stopping you!

YOU!

Just thought I’d remind you!

plhJournal Entry ~ Yesterday I woke up and felt as if I had the whole world on my shoulders. I didn’t really – it just seemed that way. So much to do, so little time. But upon reflection I realized that the biggest challenge facing me today were my own thoughts. My own worries.

I was the one adding stress to the day by feeling the way I was feeling. So mid-way through the day I stretched my whole body. I took calming deep breaths. I reminded myself of my blessings and I told myself I could make the day what I chose it to be. And I did. It wasn’t remarkable to anyone ~ except me… and that’ll do!

You can overcome obstacles…you know…

~

… Obviously!

I think the biggest obstacle to overcome in life is our own perceived limitations.

This video is about an amazing man who clearly understands this and is definitely passing the message on.

Have an awesome day, be thankful for all that you have, and remember – we are beautiful aren’t we (all of us)!
