What are meaningful “action” words?

And how do you use them?

*
Love, Hope, Give, Honor, Care, Trust, Believe, Forgive, Value,
*

Such small words. Such huge and wonderful meanings. When we use small words with big meanings do we feel big feelings? Do we think big thoughts?

 by Sanshams

In the English language of things, these can all be “action” words (verbs)! Are they action words (in your life) when you say them or are they simply words connecting other words together in a sentence. Words written or spoken in daily platitudes but not our personal attitudes.

I know when we use small words that are negative …

fear, hate, fault, blame, mean, hurtful, cruel, greedy
*

… we are very action oriented! Look around, it’s rather obvious isn’t it? Violence,happy-young-woman-by-fotosforthought. meanness, cruelty, selfishness, greed are everywhere (in abundance)! Why is that?

The human heart has such a giant capacity for LOVE and LOVING!

Today, written and spoken words are being used as weapons, tearing apart and ripping through the potential of what we can become: something far greater than the sum of our individual parts. Please use those action words that help bring us – all – closer together. Not further apart. And yes! You do make a difference! Every single human being on the planet does!

Each life holds the capability of greatness from which something mighty may grow.

Human Insecurity – Self correcting your self-doubt!

So where does one start?

insecure

Have you noticed that self-doubt is insidious, creeping in to infect you with an overwhelming sense of insecurity. And like an infection, once it has a good hold on you it can be hard to combat.

cultivateA few thoughts to consider as you gear up your personal armor to fight the disease of “Self Doubt”!

Cultivate the Compliments your receive. Have you ever noticed how good you feel when you receive an honest compliment from someone about something you’ve accomplished. Great feeling isn’t? You can’t help it, you just feel better about everything, including yourself (self-doubt retreats a little during those moments doesn’t it?) – Compliment in return. Look for people and things to be sincerely complimentary about. Like the ripple effect, it spreads and it also rebounds back to you in a positive way.

Approach the Issue (A lack of faith in yourself), from an outsider’s perspective. Be rational. By its very nature, making a judgement is usually an emotional call, a biased opinion, and most often incorrect when the one you’re judging is yourself.

Take yourself “out” of yourself. You are at the center of “the sphere of your own influence”!

share and care

Take yourself out of the sphere and then … influence others to increase their own self confidence. After all you know the symptoms of self doubt yourself. Who better to help those who also need a positive influence.

Go after your own personal “Self-worth” with determination! It’s inside you waiting to be discovered, explored, and celebrated. And how do you do that? By

  1. Cultivating the Compliments you receive.
  2. Approaching the Issue (A lack of faith in yourself), from an outsider’s perspective.
  3. Taking yourself “out” of yourself!
  4. Believing in “YOU”, after all …

… I do, why shouldn’t you?

How to find your own self-worth!

file0001282635185How do we determine our value or self-worth?

There appear to be a wide variety of systems in place today, along with achievement markers for “qualifying” things; grade scores, evaluations etc.

But what measuring tool do we use to decide this for ourselves?

Think carefully here because this is the attitude you bring when deciding whether or not to “go for it” in life, you know … doyourself something new or challenging!

Do you believe in yourself?

Are your feelings about yourself based on someone else’s assessment (someone else’s negative attitude – because of their own failures or jealousy).

Have you been told what you can’t do, so many times, that you’ve decided there is probably no point in trying because you’ll fail anyway, like always … sound familiar?

Okay so here’s the point – when doubting ourselves, regardless of the reason why, we then proceed to worry ourselves into panic attacks, negative attitudes and pretty much live up to what in reality was a false assessment – not a true one at all.

And that’s the Why about this!

The What to do about this follows:

  1. Stop thinking about all the reasons “You” can’t do or be something. That’s just “the worry of things” having it’s way. And it doesn’t accomplish anything positive either.

  2. Reassess your own personal feelings about yourself and your worth. You, not someone else!

  3. Start learning to trust your own instincts more. They’re patiently waiting for you to listen to them.

  4. Go “do” things. You’ll make more mistakes, guaranteed. BUT you will also be learning what to do right in the process. It’s called trial and error, (btw – it’s worked for every single famous person who ever succeeded!)

  5. Remind yourself of your unique way of viewing life. You own personal attitude about the Why About You!

The most important one to believe in is of course yourself.

The famous author, Laurell K Hamilton was told by the head of a creative writing program (that she was kicked out of) in college that she’d never make it as a writer and that she was a corrupting influence on the other students. It crushed Laurell. She didn’t write again for several years.

After a series of successful books, when asked why she didn’t send her books to this teacher to show her what a success she had become Ms. Hamilton replied (these are her words):

“No, because she didn’t believe I couldn’t succeed as a writer, she feared I could! She feared I would go out and do exactly what I have done…”

And that’s that, sums things up nicely I think, have a nice day, take care of you and believe in you too!

Our Tomorrows … Suspended on a sunbeam

h

We humans live on the planet we call Earth.

It is a most noble planet indeed housing a myriad of life forms. An immense amount of life abounds on this majestic planet called Earth. A small blue seemingly inconsequential speck to the Universe.

But to me it is the most amazing and glorious life sustaining planet of all.

My home, The planet Earth!

I will cherish, preserve and respect all life within my ability to do so. And I know I am not alone. These things I will do, I shall do in the company of my fellow humans for all the todays and tomorrows that we have.

Believe … Let go … and …Trust!

trust

The Trusting Heart

Now that’s a tough word isn’t it? TRUST!

I know it is.

I think that most of us have had issues with that one, both in the past and present.

Quite a difficult thing to maneuver around. Lack of trust does seem to get in the way of many things.childs trust

It is so extremely hard to trust sometimes, but not trusting can become an anchor that weighs you down.

Have you ever had a child leap off of something towards you and say “Catch me”? You barely have time to acknowledge their request when your arms go out to catch them. They trust you.

They haven’t learned any painful lessons yet that can make it harder to trust so unconditionally.

Brutal lessons in life can take innocent belief away. But for your own health and well being and as difficult  as it may be – Let go, forgive (as you can and then move on towards the trusting heart!

The Mystery to Eternal Youth

timeless eternity

I recently completed a 5 part series, Aging Well -The Fountain of Youth. I spoke of a few items that I personally felt important to remember as we age. There was no need to discuss specifics such as diet and other like topics which abound everywhere. I attempted to cover more of the esoteric things that help our mind/body decide how it’s going to age. So to sum up:

  • AttitudeLife is 10% what happens to each of us and 90% how we respond to it! Always our choice!
  • BreathingOur bodies need (as in absolutely must have) lots of oxygen to live and be healthy, breathe in and exhale deeply at least several times a day!
  • StretchingWe, Homo sapiens are mammals with large and small muscle groups. Stretching is  necessary. The act of stretching sends a message to our brain that all parts of us are awake and ready to move!
  • ThoughtsThere is nothing truer than the words “We are what we think” – fill up your mind with positive and good thoughts about yourself and others. No this isn’t always easy but it is doable with practice.
  • LaughterLaugh as frequently and often as you can. Laughter is the very best medicine in life at any age for anything that ails you, besides it feels good!

Oh and the Mystery to Eternal Youth – one I should have included in the series:

Passion!

We must be passionate in our pursuits in life!

Coming soon, a new series called “Mastering the Art of Sensuality” (Thanks to a special person out there in blog-land who encouraged me to do this – She is greatly appreciated). To me, part of the experience of life is becoming comfortable and intimate with each of our senses.

We cannot be truly passionate about anything without the ability to connect closely to our senses (touching, seeing, smelling, hearing, tasting).

With an increased awareness of our own sensitivity (sensual nature) our ability to reach out to others, is greatly enhanced. And touching others (through words) is what I am really passionate about.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

My very best to you as always, your friend, Penny

Who do you believe in?

I’m guessing that if I had to pick the person we most often doubt it would ourselves.Today is a wonderful day to begin believing in yourself. Starting Now! Here are a few quotes to lead the way.

“I believe that all I am or every will be is dependent on how I perceive my own self-worth and capabilities.” Penny L Howe

“It’s not who you are that holds you back,it’s who you think you’re not”  Anonymous

“If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right.” Mary Kay Ash

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step”  Martin Luther King Junior

“If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.”
Bruce Lee, martial arts master

One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn’t pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself.
Lucille Ball

There is no limit to the power of the human mind. The more concentrated it is, the more power is brought to bear on one point; that is the secret.
Swami Vivekananda

The most important person in your life each day that will make a positive difference in how you proceed will always be you. Let today be that day, Be happy, be positive, make it so! Penny

A Gathering of Bloggers – One United World!

Just yesterday I spoke with various people (via the blogging world of the internet) from North American, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, UK (England, Scotland, Ireland), the Far East, The Middle East, Several Scandinavian Countries, Various Islands, Providences and more. And our conversations were real time, nothing fettering our exchange of thoughts, opinions and ideas.

What was even more important than our subject matter was the fact that we were communicating directly with each other. Average everyday people speaking with one another as friends. Friends everywhere around the world. It is a wonderous thing to be happening, you know.

Over the centuries there are those who have felt keenly a sense of impending change – happening around them – those of an artistic and nurturing soul.  And during these times they tend to gather towards one another, instinctively.

We can probably recognize some of these gatherings that have happened, each relating to one’s own cultural history, within the last several hundred years – creative artisans, writers, philosophers, thinkers, inventors. Gathering for a common/creative purpose of coming together for the GOOD of mankind!

I believe, during times of change, the need to be more strongly interactive becomes instinctive for those who sense a change in coming events.

We are in a world-wide time of change right now. We know it! We sense it! We feel it! And for the first time ever, the voice of mankind is being heard around the world by her/his brothers and sisters of the planet earth. It is real. It is happening, an exchange of thoughts, ideas, views; a pure coming together, a gathering of bloggers – How incredibly wonderful is that!

A beginning, one predicated on love, understanding, caring, commonality, reaching out, touching, sharing, a sense of belonging by all who reside on Earth. Yes indeed, a very good thing.
