Let Nature in and worries out!

John Muir (1838 – 1914) John of the Mountains: The Unpublished Journals of John Muir, 1938 – is a famous naturalist and author. During his life he became a well know advocate for the preservation of wilderness. His views on nature and his written words can serve as a remind to us of how freeing and uplifting being with nature can be. Today I share some of his words with you.

Written one hundred years ago,

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into the trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves – John Muir

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found was really going in. – John Muir

This post brought to you by the color Brown!

The deeply rich or mellow color of brown. Brown is one of the textures of our life! From the time we can crawl and get muddy to climbing the brown trunks of trees. One of the shades of our hair and eyes. Drinking the brews of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, all brown! So I now present to you one of the significant colors in our lives.

Not strangers to each other ~ Not Really!

Hi

Hi ~

During the last few months (A very mild winter this year in SE Washington.) I have taken many “nature walks” in several parks located by a magnificent river. One can walk for miles. The parks abound with numerous trees, birds and all manner of wildlife! (No, not the bear, lol – I just like his friendly smile and wave “hello”!)

As you can see, the park is lovely!

As you can see, the park is lovely!

~

During my walks one of the unexpected happenings was the numerous greetings of “hello” and “hi” by other walkers strolling, jogging, passing by. Some couples, some with young children in tow and some solo. They came in all shapes, sizes, ethnic backgrounds and ages.

And yes, the walks were also shared with feathered friends, although their hello was more like a "honk"!

And yes, the walks were also shared with feathered friends, although their hello was more like a “honk”!

~

It was wonderful. People I didn’t know, enjoying the same view as I and wanting to connect through the universal greeting of “hello“. A stranger saying hello to another stranger. Is it nature’s setting? Does leisure imply “more open”? Is there a mela fluidity with our senses that can be missing in other places?

A busy city

A busy city

.

Why does this not happen when one walks down a busy city street or a shopping mall? The pace is, of necessity, different and hectic. And the people are certainly in greater numbers as they go about their business.

Is there a disconnect that happens, and how long is it there for? How long do we stay “closed” and distant from those around us in the artificial environment of a city structure? Of an industrial/technological society?

So many people, together yet separated from one another.

~

Well as for me, regardless of where you live and who you are, what you are doing, and why you are doing it, I’d like to say a great big huge, gigantic …

HELLO!!!

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by,

Beauty in the eye of the beholder

Isn’t beauty wonderful? Most especially your own personal view. The view from your eyes.

As it should be.

file0002069514400

With one big exception. Sometimes when you share your view of beauty with another and they share their view with you each of you picks up on some aspect of the beauty of a thing that each of you may have missed.

Look for beauty around you today. Put no limits on it. We all need lots and lots of beauty in our lives. The beauty of a thing, a word, a thought, a deed, an action, a view – all! Everything!

Beauty is everywhere, look for it today and, of course, as you can, share the experience with others!

file000489309392

And remember to smile and breath in the beauty as you appreciate your ability to do so.

After my last post I had to include a tree in here!

This is life, this is living! Appreciate the beauty in your world. Enjoy it, live it, breath it! Be a part of the experience.

This Post brought to you today by the color Yellow!

file4831335316242

Available to you in nature everywhere!

file000989729140What is it about the color yellow that many of us love so much?

~

I’m guessing primarily because it’s the color of the sun, the light that brightens the sky and our world when it shines.

~

I think that on a subliminal level we (as living beings) file0001823116947know that our life is dependent upon the sun.

~

Yellow is a warming color, whether it be the sun or by fire.

Yellow is a cheerful color by it’s very nature. A feel good about yourself sort of color!

~

file000299512764When I think of the color yellow I think of a multitude of shades.

~

Subtle shades that sooth “mellow yellow” and vibrant shades that are cheerful and uplifting.

~

But mostly the color yellow is the color that brightens,OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA file1411284428310regardless of the hue or the format being viewed by us.

~

Yellow provides a contrast to all the other colors surrounding it.

~

Creatures of all kinds, those in the ocean and those on the land, insects, plants of all kinds, including fruit and vegetables, flowers and much more brighten our day.

~

Yellow is one of the three primary colors.

~

So today I give tribute to the color yellow and all it represents.

May the color “yellow” live long and prosper!

Your kidding Right?

So the weather channel is calling our current weather conditions “WESTERN WARMTH“. Warmth? Say again … Warmth? Um that’s the term I use to imply cozy as in comfortable and schmoozy. You know feel good all over. That is so not what’s happening out here. Yesterday it was 107 degrees and today out here, well look at today’s weather forcast and the 86 degrees was at around 9:00 this morning. It’s going to be a balmy 104 today with storms no less:

I decided to recall some “COOLER CLIMES” through some of my photo’s during a retreat in the hills of Chehalem, Oregon.  Worked for me!

I really enjoy the shot of franky and jonny “enjoying?” the view of the “cool” weather. Okay actually they were watching the brave little birds eating while during the falling snow. Here’s hoping you enjoy my take on warm and cool!
