Life’s Internal Survival Tools … So Handy for Today!

I fear change, unless curiosity and anticipation encourage me through a newly opened door of opportunity. I hate what doesn’t agree with me unless my compassion, caring and need to understand takes charge and helps me to greater wisdom.

Reality can definitely seem overwhelming unless/until my imagination takes over and finally, I know sometimes I feel a sense of despair until my hopeful spiritual nature and dreams come forth to guide me to a better place.

Isn’t it a most wonderful thing to know that we (each) have our own internal toolbox of survival tools always available to us. If we remember to use them.

You do … Don’t you?

Be an Encourager. First to yourself and then to others! Thanks for stopping by and have a great new week to come. I wish you well.

NOTHING!

file000693070568

Nothing

No air left for me to breathe.
Did atmosphere disappear with you – when you left?

There is no feeling left to feel.
Was all substance removed – when you went away?

There are no tears upon my face
Despair so intense – all senses frozen in fear,
for to contemplate the loss of you
I shall indeed, dissolve into … nothing …

The nothing you left behind.

Love is so precious, never take for granted, and if you are one of the lucky ones, cherish. If you are still searching, be at peace, love will find you, and if you were disappointed and hurt by another, take heart. Wounds heal with the passage of time to make way for a new love.

Have an excellent weekend filled to overflowing with love!

Penny.

Ligo Haibun Challenge – Torturous Love!

One of the two word prompts for this week’s Ligo Haibun (writing) Challenge is – torture! I don’t believe anyone can think about that word without coming up with sad, painful and scary feelings. I chose the broken heart from a shattered love relationship.

I Suppose

Lying midst scattered remnants of reality, I do not care to move, curled up in a fetal position, hugging knees tightly to my chest. The position, an instinctive leftover memory of safeness, I suppose. Am I fragile? I suppose so. Does a butterfly have wings that can be pulled off? Yes, I suppose this is true also.

The pain is overwhelming, you know. I don’t suppose you care. But if you did … if you did, the sweet sorrow from the tortuous pain you left me in, would be your undoing … or maybe not, I suppose.

my tortured soul
from rapture to exquisite pain
lies comotose

Do remember, this is a work of fiction everyone, I couldn’t be further from that state of existence if I tried. My days right now are full up with tennis (giving lessons), writing and drawing, enjoying family (baking) and the Autumn of things, and, of course, being online creating and inspiring others, along with you!

Be sure to check out the other wonderfully written Ligo Haibun Challenge entries written by a talented group of international “word artisans”!

In Your Night of Days … know there will be light!

The children of the densely treed forest dozed, curled about one another among twisted roots, snuggled near the base of a tree. They could hear her words of wisdom, words whispered through the night among drowsy thoughts in their sleepy minds. Mother Nature knew her children and smiled down on them, nurturing as they slumbered.

“…and there will be those days of sunlight … and there will be those nights of darkness. Do not fear the darkness of the night, for in the morning of the day, the sun will shine again.

But when Darkness steals into your life to take from you, your precious heart of love … then know (and she reached out and embraced them all – every single one) … I will be there to shine for you as the sun shines on a blue-skied day. I will not let the Darkness carry you away.

Rest easy on those night of days. Know all will be well, little ones … all will be well.”

And the children of the forest slept, safe in her loving arms for another night of rest!

“Believe that in your night of days
When Darkness enters in,
There is hope do not despair
The light will shine again.”

Peaceful Contemplation of Being Overwhelmed!

bench in river 13

~

How’s it going?

The photo says it all.

Life can be so darn overwhelming you really don’t know what to do about it. So you do nothing except think and stew and worry and wonder about THE WHY ABOUT THIS!

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Actually its neither. It’s you experiencing “life in action” thing! Sometimes you can control what happens. But sometimes control slips away when the unexpected occurs. What matters is how you’re going to handle your own feelings!

You can rage about the “unfairness” except life has never been based on beingalone fair. A truth. You can pout and mope about the “why me … of it all”, except in all probability there are worse things happening to other people, everywhere. You just aren’t aware of them. Well, if those things don’t help – and they don’t – what is there left to do?

Summing it all up there’s one thing you can still do. It’s called the responsibility factor … that’s the really tough one. To get out of the river of being overwhelmed, the ocean of misery and so on you have to take action yourself. Be responsible for your own actions and attitude. Bring about the change you need … right now … make it happen … Go ahead … you can do it!

I’m cheering you on!

lonely by Penny L Howe, 2013

(yes the first two pictures are of me sitting in the Columbia river on a bench. A few of you have seen these pictures before. They’re from a little over a year ago. The river was flooding (obviously) and I decided to have a few pictures taken. It was spring and the water was melted snow thaw and frigidly cold. Took quite awhile to warm up my feet and legs, but still … got great shots!) 🙂

~ In the river of life, swim, wind surf, paddle your kayak, row your boat, do what ever it takes to keep your head above water! You make it happen. You do!

The human vessel ~ the contents within

004

~

We are human beings, carrying so many things inside ourselves as we travel along the various pathways of our lives. Each of us is a vessel. Filled with all manner of thoughts, wishes, hopes, dreams, experiences, memories. The essence that will shape us and those around us during our travels.

file000820302464

Each vessel has a unique shape. Yet, it is only an outer shape formed to hold the contents within. And while the outer shape of this, our human vessel, may change with the years, it is the contents of the vessel that are of importance.

file000383384628

Experience teaches us many things. What we decide as a result of our personal experiences will determine the nature of the contents inside – what we ultimately decide to fill our own vessels with: Courage, Empathy, Good Will, Love, Joy, Hope or Duplicity, Disappointment, Resignation, Hate, Fear, Despair, hopelessness.

While we are on this planet and alive, our vessels become a reflection of our vessel’s contents.

file000516161782

Most of us begin our live’s with Joy and Love. Not all, but most. I’ve found it interesting however that those who face adversity squarely in the face and emerge triumphant, bone weary often, but still a survivor, do tend to fill up their human vessel with so much love and courage that they spend much of the rest of their lives sharing these contents with others.

005

And I’ve found it to be inversely true. Those who have suffered disappointments but chose not to rise above their individual misfortunes, tend to go through life with their vessels harboring ill will, blame, and discontent for their own perceived shortcomings. They feel the need to bring people down to a hurtful level as indeed they themselves are feeling from the contents they’ve chosen to fill their vessels with. The appearance of their vessel may appear lovely but the contents are not.

file000412270397

The contents of our human vessels are so very precious. They decide our level of happiness, the joy we are capable of receiving and giving in any given day.

Be very careful how you fill your own vessel.

It’s contents are the most important thing in your life. And to the lives of those you love and who love you.

Not the appearance of the vessel that matters but what’s inside!
