Living Life – An easier way.

 DSCN1442

It isn’t the living that’s so difficult … it’s life itself. Life can come at you hard and fast. Take you down when you least expect it. That’s the truth. In fact for most of us you can count on it happening. But living … well that’s something else again. What you do, how you act, how you feel when life throws you a curve ball will determine how tough things are going to be for you and for how long. This is also true.

The distinction is that while we cannot change some of the things that happen to us, we can decide how we will respond to them. And we’re back to hard again. Or at least tough. Some of the things that happen to us, not of our making, (although an amazing amount of what happens to us is) are emotionally and or physically hard to overcome. But people do it everyday. And they’re fundamentally no different than you or I.

They do have determination, however. They are willing to get back up and try again. And even though you read this and say well maybe for them … the last truth I’ll share with you is that in the long run, it turns out to be easier to change your attitude about life and yourself, to make things happen in spite of it all – if you’re willing to do so.

So here’s the thing – I believe you can! Do you?

With sincere affection,

Determined and Persistent!

Bald Eagle

How’s your persistence or determination for getting things done? Out of a scale of 1 to 10 where do you think you’d rate your ability to keep on, keeping on, in spite of what comes your way?

In case you didn’t know, the importance of persistence is HUGE. Almost every single successful person has learned this. They just don’t stop until they reach their goal.

The truth is it was not talent, nor education, nor intelligence that made the big difference. It was … never giving up!

 Persistence

I worry not for little things that interfere with what I do.

I worry not for larger things that slow me down for just a few.

I worry not for largest things that may stop me and impede.

I’ll keep on in spite of fears, I will not stop, I will succeed.

Thanks for your visit, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. Oh and regarding the words I just wrote up above … all true!

~ Penny

A Writer Should Never Use – these two words! I Can’t!

I Can’t!

How many of us have said or heard the words “I Can’t”. All of us, and everyone is my guess.

I recommend the following: Follow you heart, don’t forget your dreams. Discipline is important. Understanding that effort  + action will achieve results. Also research is important, spend a little time researching the “what & how” to do something . Put passion into this as well. Just don’t use the words “I Can’t”, because it isn’t true, you know … You Can!

Most mighty things – begin very small. Many great achievements were made with very slow and hesitant steps towards a goal. Success happened because those who achieved never stopped. Perhaps they’d regroup or pause and start over, but they never stopped.

I  CAN

Don’t speak to me about can nots

Don’t try to stomp on my dreams,

I am who I am, and I feel what I feel,

And my words are all there in my Reams.

*

The Reams of my paper seem endless

My words upon words upon words,

But I’m true to myself and I’ll say what I say,

And do all that “I Can” to be heard.

*

I’ll never give up or stop trying,

Holding fast so that nothing can ban.

My dream is to write and so I shall write,

I will write for I know that – “I Can”!

 ~

Hold fast to your dreams, never let go, never stop.

Thank you for stopping by,

Rules of Your road … to SUCCESS!

By pippalou

The Successful Road Trip!

Rule 1. Never forget you are your own person. You can do “anything” you decide you can do.

Rule 2. Focus – stay on the main road. Put all your creative energy into your goal and watch out for those sneaky side roads that can detour you from your chosen path.

Rule 3. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you! Yes, the road can be bumpy and filled with potholes. But the road to success is always there … As long as you’re on it.

Rule 4. Ignore naysayers. They are either the ones who didn’t succeed and jealously wish for you to keep from succeeding as well, or those who never tried and don’t believe it can be done.

Rule 5. Create connections with others. Lots of positive connections with others. Support is a most excellent thing, both for you and for you to give to others.

Rule 6. Stay determined and persistent as you focus on your endeavors, but not inconsiderate, rude, arrogant and insensitive.

Rule 7. Be Passionate! This rule is a big one. Be so passionate about that which you are striving for that it creates a positive glow inside and around you … And yes, people will notice this passionate and positive energy and be drawn to it.

Rule 8. Don’t doubt yourself but if you have a phase (or two) where you do, don’t dwell long on those negative feelings, just keep on … keeping on with your eyes on the road.

Rule 9. Never give up your dream … Never! If you can’t quite believe so totally in yourself, Believe in the successful completion of your destination, after all … You are on the road to success!

Rule 10. You are the one in the driver’s seat. You make it happen. You do!

The Fifth Day of Happiness – A New Year …

dreamstime_xs_9806429

… And A New Beginning – for YOU!

If you review your past year by continuing to focus on the difficulties encountered, you will carry these problems and negative thoughts and feelings with you into the New Year.

January 1st, 2014 is the beginning of a New Year. Make it a new beginning for yourself as well. Let go grudges and blame, they can only harm you further. They will be of no value to you in the coming year – so cast them off. Remember you are the only one who creates the life you want. You’re the one that makes it happen.

dreamstime_xs_35947746

Begin with deliberate intent. Have a strong focus on what you want to happen in 2014. You can start right now. Generate feelings of harmony and happiness as you release the magic that is built deep within you – just waiting to be set free. It’s past time to believe in yourself. Know that you can make it happen! Yes you can!

The Happiest of New Years to everyone!

Leave No Doubt – Women and Men are more alike than you think!

Credit line: © Mauricio Jordan De Souza Coelho | Dreamstime.com

In my last post, clearly it was one that women relate to quicker than men. Not because of the “girly” heart shaped illustration (although that’s a part of it) but because the message was written gently about the importance of unconditional love. For most women it’s how we view things.

Men love and bond just as deeply and passionately as women but their perspective on how they view a thing (as with women) has much to do with their own natures (let’s be honest here, a lot of it is physical), the environment they grow up in and of course their subsequent experiences.

But underneath all of these obvious differences there is a “sameness“! One that gets overlooked – a lot! I mention in yesterday’s blog post that with unconditional love you should “Leave No Doubt”. Too many women can forget they have the same capability as men with their own “strength (of character)” within their hearts . A strong ability to make their point and leave no doubt.

I am showing the  following video clip from a movie to remind EVERY SINGLE WOMAN ON THE PLANET that we are as strong and capable (equal to) as any human when we set out to accomplish something, be it loving and nurturing, pursuing our own goals or freedoms, we DO have the strength (of character) – built right inside of us, just waiting for us to call on it.

No, not the physical strength (presented here in the video) but the other strength that is also shown here. The one of character and will perseverance and determination! We all (humans) have that in abundance (just waiting to be tapped into). For women, it is past due time for us to cash in on this!

While the video is aimed at and about a male sport – the lesson to learn here is for both men and women – in life’s pursuit, and don’t forget it!

Leave No Doubt!

Failure – What it is and isn’t!

What is failure? Apart from a word none of us like hearing or thinking about!

Failure: The condition or fact of not achieving the desired end or ends!

Well okay, that doesn’t sound so bad. But it’s how we feel about it that can create havoc with our lives. Not the act of failing in and of itself.

I failed in my first business (financially a huge mess). When I mentioned this to another entrepreneur, at the time, he said to me, “you didn’t fail“!

And I said, “Well if you don’t count closing your business doors, owing a ton of money to a lot of people a failure … what do you call it?”

And he said, “Taking risks while you learn how to do something the right way.” Just so you know, at the time I strongly disagreed with him. I was the one that had to figure out what to do next. I was a single parent with no income, ruined credit and lots of bills to pay.

But guess what? he was right. When I creatively (and hurriedly) came up with a short term financial solution (got a job), spoke with each of the creditors and made the best arrangements I could at the time (and asked for short term help from my family – that was the hardest thing of all!) I got by.

Within a year. I had put together another proposal, went after more financing and was in business again.

So I advise you to look carefully at the actual meaning of the word failure. Because it isn’t the end of everything. That only happens when you give up. As long as you keep trying, you haven’t failed at all, you’re still in your learning curve!

“Consider failure as a temporary setback,
the price you pay to learn until you get it right!”

Where your heart leads

burning desire

Your heart is a symbol for creative activity. It is through your passions that you find the will to go where you want to go, do what you want to do, and be who you want to be.

Fire up your heart, kindle your passion, dream BIG, imagine BIGGER, and fire up your desire so greatly it will become deeply ingrained in your subconscious! You will not be able to stop yourself. Your entire personality will willingly follow where your heart leads.

You’re creating a groove that becomes fixed in your mind each time you become passionately determined to accomplish something. And as you win your heart’s desire, you will come to expect the best from yourself.

So on those days when you don’t think you can do something, rekindle the passion and desire for that which you want. and do remember …

“Where the heart leads, the mind and body follows!” ~ Penny L Howe, 2013

One of my favorite people, that has ever been, is Walt Disney. I’ve studied the man, his career, and his life extensively. For me it was an easy choice to pick the word “Cartoon”.

My written piece this week is nonfiction. A personal tribute:

In Honor of you – Walt!

Born more that a century ago, when you and your brother Roy were young adults, you packed up your bags and in your pickup truck, with everything you owned, drove to Hollywood. You were sure you were going to be a successful entrepreneur. When Roy asked you what you would do (about getting a studio for animation up and running), you said  “I’ll create a new character”. And Roy asked you what kind and you said, “I don’t know, how about a mouse?” While this is an anecdotal story, I think it just might be true.

In your life you shaped American culture, became a giant in the movie and theme park industries, and are one of the main people responsible for the origination and evolution of animated cartoons/movies/videos we all watch today. Your imagination, talent and determination to succeed are almost unmatched.

But more than anything else you inspired and brought joy and laughter to hundreds of millions of children and adults around the world. Your legacy lives on. Very few can reach the heights you attained. You were my primary inspiration to draw as a child. When I became an adult you were my inspiration to succeed. You never let me down with your vision and your imagination. Thank you Walt.
