cup of morning coffeeWhen I woke up this morning I had a small list of potential topics to write about, and a few posts already written. But as I sat in the early morning sun, cup of coffee in hand, birds singing, pets laying nearby, I realized that I just wanted to write something uplifting to add to your day, not take away from it, so for you ~ A reminder in the form of a poem, of how special you are and the difference you make in the lives of others!

Have a most lovely ~ day, evening and night, to awake renewed and refreshed in the ‘morrow, knowing that you have been thought of and are loved …

patio… Just for being you!

(Please feel free to take the “You Are Loved” photo with you, no link backs or attribution is required … just that you enjoy and share with others!)

Ligo Haibun Challenge – The life of a Morning Glory

The two prompt words for this week’s Challenge are “oblivion” and “morning glory“. I have chosen “morning glory“.

Morning Glory

~

Just as sunshine spreads over early morning horizons, beautiful trumpet-shaped blossoms of morning-glory vines burst open, pollinated by early rising birds and industrious insects. By late afternoon the morning-glory blossoms fade and die, new flowers appearing on the ‘morrow.

There seems a special magic to the hard working morning-glory. Their entwining vines hardy in dry earth and lovely blossoms giving forth rich mixtures of greenery and various hues of colored flowers.

The morning-glory flower makes the most of its day, for one day is all it has. To me a specialness in this. A point nature is making here. Will I make the most of my “lifetime’s day” on this planet? Will I enthuse a richness in my manner of being? Can I be hardy as the vines, even on the toughest of days? Will there be a fullness of beauty, an openness of expression in the sharing myself with others, so they too may share and so on?

Yes, I can do this. I shall be as the “morning-glory” in my human life!

I, a morning-glory
blossomed, open and sharing
my “one day” – all days

The sun is shining and the sky is blue,

a cool morning, though I know another hot day is on the way.

Right now, in the moment, it is gorgeous and beautiful.

It is a new day, yesterday has passed,

many surprises and unknowns may await me.

Some good some bad,

some ordinary, some unusual. It’s a new day after all.

Good morning my beautiful world,

I welcome you … and the new day

with a loving kiss,

and open arms!

Ligo Haibun Challenge – Nature’s child am I

7445948_orig

There, upon thy woodland meadow, there stand I. Breathing fragrant essence of thine summer’s day. Silken blades caress my skin, the sky above, the earth below, I am one.

Glorious radiant sunshine, glowing down on me, my naked body suckles from thine nourishment. Though standing clothed in garments, I’m enveloped in array, of cloaked and warming amber ’tis thy gift you do convey. For nature’s child am I.

Forsworn as nature’s child, I was christened years ago. As nature’s child I abide, among the grassy carpet meadow, ’tis glory ’tis my own. A wreath, a crown of wildflowers bestowed upon my head. ’tis wonderment that I behold, nature’s bounty is my own.

Singing, dancing bare of feet, absorbing earthen brownness from your hallowed ground. Oh glory be your beauty, thine vision I behold. As nature’s child I welcome thee, blessing on your land. I will abide, need have no fear, I am here, e’er each long year, for I am yours, t’will always be, and as such will guard, preserving all I see, for I am nature’s child, ’tis my gift I give to thee.

The Rose of Love

file0001253096687

The Rose

In Greek Mythology Aphrodite was asked to provide the name for this loveliest of all flowers. She gave the name of rose in honor of her son Eros, the Greek god of Love. By taking the first letter “e” and having it come after the “s” in his name you get – rose. An excellent tale, but for whatever the reason, the rose is considered the flower of love.

Roses are many millions of years old. They are beautiful flowers and come in many colors, shades and hues. There are thousands of varieties. But a rose … is a rose … is a rose and the eternal symbol of love!

~

“The rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart.” unknown

“If you stand in front of a mirror with 11 roses, you’ll see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world.”  unknown

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Shakespeare

The forgotten flower

meadow flowers

~

Lost amidst the meadow’s view

forgotten flower poised so true.

Lingering in the morning air

none to breath thy fragrance fair.

Silked, unfolded petals wide

forgotten flower, you abide.

~

Forgotten flower still unseen

and yet you reign, you are a queen.

For unbeknownst to all this day

crowned with sunshine’s golden rays.

 Morning dew with sparkling glow

jeweled petals did bestow.

~

You’ve become a radiant sight

although unseen, your glory’s bright.

Unfortunate who cannot see

unwitnessed still, for all you be.

Forgotten ’til there does appear

someone of worth who’ll hold your dear.

Forgotten flower never fear

your time for view is coming near!

Fascinating Flower

I miss my son who lives in Philadelphia, so it was my great happiness to have the florist show up on Sunday (Mother’s Day) with a gorgeously small bouquet of flowers from him. Couldn’t help myself, I took a few shots for you to be as fascinated as I by the intricate beauty of the insides of a flower.
