The Family called the Human Race!

happy girl

We … The Human Race

For all that we are … and are not

We stand tall!

For all that we do … and all that we don’t

We still stand tall!

We … make mistakes

We … mess up … BIG TIME!

We … get it wrong … AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN…

But we stand tall!

~

We recover

We persevere

We don’t give up

Our spirit does not break.

We stand tall!

We are the family called the Human Race.

We will stumble and our forward steps are slow,

And many errors grievous

But we still stand tall.

~

There is Love.

There is Compassion.

There is Care.

There is Giving.

Sometimes, often it gets lost or misplaced,

or sadly forgotten,

but it is inside each of us

And for all of this

We stand tall!

We, the family of Humans

all living on

our home – the Planet Earth!

Leave No Regrets!

“Todas las cosas tienen su tiempo.”

~

There are times when things just happen
in a way that’s meant to be.
There are times
“we” make things happen,
when we are young and free!
~
There are times of joy and loving
times of despair and loss.
Times that rock the ages,
And times we’d like to toss.
~
The time that we are given
should not be spent in haste,
because time is just too precious
for us to simply waste.
~
“all things do have their own time”
So we should not forget,
to live our lives in fullness
with love
… leave no regrets!

This is my 1000th post!

thankyou

I really had to think about what I wanted to say in this one and naturally I spent no little amount of time reliving the last few (mostly) active years here at WordPress.

I have made so many friends, a handful of you guys right here on the Northwest coast of America and then so many more across the country. Then in nearby Canada and Mexico and down into South America with special mentions for Ecuador and Argentina. Many more in various countries around the world …

… England, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, France, Ghana, Spain, Japan, China, Australia,The Philippines, South Africa, Croatia, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Dubai, Pakistan, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Egypt, India, and on and on. There are those (you know who you are) who have touched my heart and have found a special place there, even though most of us have never met in person, I feel as if we have.

The more I sat here thinking about all of you, your individual specialness, the creative good times as well as the times of sadness we’ve shared – it all boiled down to one thing to say from my heart. Thank you.

Thank You So Very Much

Penny

Throwback Thursday – Hey, who took my glass half full …

… and replaced it with one half empty!

Glass Half Empty

I’m simply not sure how it happened
It was there for all who could see,
But now it has changed
things all rearranged
My glass is half empty to me.

~

I’ve always seen things from the plus side
A most agreeable place one can be
But now alas
I view all I lack
And wonder what next I will see.

~

I’m hoping it soon will be half full
The glass that so fills with delight
But right now I despair
It just isn’t there
Completely gone from my sight

Even during the times when it seems as if things are more than you can handle, hang in there. During adversity there will be others who care, showing up to make the difference, if you let them.

Keep your heart open, your courage strong, and your faith undiminished. Know this too shall pass. Be good to others and take care of you. Remember, if you don’t take care of yourself, you may not be there for the ones who need you!

You, Who Inspire, Unknowingly – I Salute You!

When you think about your day today, and the problems to overcome, situations to resolve and your goals to obtain – do you think about who you might be inspiring, all unknown to you, a rose for youin the moment?

In your life you shape your surroundings based on decisions made and those nearby watch your actions. These include your loved ones, your close friends, associates, even strangers who may be noticing how you are doing what you are doing. Your imagination, talent and determination do not go unnoticed – even if you think they do.

I’m guessing there are times in your life when you’ve inspired and brought hope and joy to someone without even being aware you were doing so. Sometimes you’ve inspired just by “being there” and making that positive difference. Your life is your legacy.

And as you live your daily life you do inspire. You inspire others to try harder, you inspire others to dream and at your very best you inspire hope for a better day. This is what you do. Whether you’re aware of it or not, it’s true.

So today, YOU are my inspiration. to succeed, to overcome adversity, to allow my own imagination full rein, to be all I can be – Thank You!

Another short one, but loving and being loved does feel that way, don’t you think? Remember that being grateful is also a big part of the recipe for happiness. Everyone have an excellent Friday and weekend coming up!

Meet Plato – The Intelligent Cat!

Plato

Plato, the intelligent Cat

This is Plato. and he’ll have been a part of our family for a year, right around Halloween time. While he’s certain the color for Halloween, he’s far more than just another black cat. He is a smart and beautiful cat with a most magnificent tail.

em and nay

Before Plato there had been Sawyer the cat. Emma’s beloved Sawyer left us last fall. She was a beautiful calico cat and at 16 yrs had lived a full life. When Emma was born, Sawyer (who never had kittens), adopted Emma, the two became inseparable, when Emma lost her dear father 4 years ago, Sawyer rarely left her side, she was an amazing cat and we were all sad when she was gone.

Adorable Emma

But for Emma, under the circumstances Sawyer was one too many losses and left an unusually large hole of sadness in her heart and although we had said no more pets, already having 3 cats and 2 dogs (not counting Sawyer) we felt that here was a loss we could partially replace for Emma. So we went to a special rescue place for cats and Emma picked out the kitten of her choice.

Franky cautiously checking out the new kitten!

Plato is beautiful and playful and has turned out, as I mentioned at the beginning, to be very intelligent. He’s thinks about things and studies to improve his learning, LOL. Seriously, he is very clever and we never know what to expect with him even after a year. And he adores Emma!

IMAG3423-1

He hasn’t replaced Sawyer, Emma still misses her, but he is a wonderful companion for Emma and the other animals have graciously (well not entirely) accepted him into the family as well!

IMAG3416-1

You must admit he is beautiful, and take my word for it – he’s also smart! Well okay, to be honest, my Franky and Jonny think he’s a pain in the …

Happy Wednesday/Thursday everyone!

For my very dear friend of Scotland – “Cuddle Doon”.

IMAG4128-1

Politics seem to always figure into the scheme of things, be they Nay or Yay. There are the Scots who are happy for the decision to remain a part of the United Kingdom and there are those who are very unhappy by the decision.

Having met an outstanding individual from Scotland, I humbly offer the following words “It is impossible and inconceivable to take Scotland out of a Scot. Just as it be impossible to take the poetic out of the Poet. The following is the last two stanzas by Alexander Anderson’s (of Scotland) poem Cuddle Doon.

“…An’ just afore we bed oorsels,

We look at our wee lambs’;
Tam has his airm roun’ wee Rab’s neck,
And Rab his airm round Tam’s.
I lift wee Jamie up the bed,
An’ as I straik each croon,
I whisper, till my heart fills up,
“Oh bairnies, cuddle doon.”

The bairnies cuddle doon at nicht
Wi’ mirth that’s dear to me;
But soon the big warl’s car an’ care
Will quaten doon their glee.
Yet, come what will to ilka ane,
May he who rules aboon
Aye whisper, though their pows be bald,
“Oh barnies, cuddle doon.”

~ Alexander Anderson, 1845 – 1909

When you are of Scotland, you will always be of Scotland, not geographic political borders nor treaties will change that fact!

A Woman is many things, passionate and …

my love - Copy

She may be viewed with passion in mind or she may be viewed as intelligent, discerning, determined and her own person.

Snapshot_20130510_7

Don’t confuse the two. Just because a woman is passionate does not mean she is not also, strong willed and a capable individual up for life’s challenges (more than a few of them very difficult).

cuddling w frankie

And never forget she is loving of all life, tender and nurturing. So a woman is many things – But most of all (for all my female friends out there if you don’t know this you should – “She Is Essential!” for exactly who she is!

strengthofwomanThe Essential Woman

Yes, all these photographs are of me. And the drawing is also one I sketched awhile back. I’m making a point that not only I, but all women have inside of us vast reserves to call upon. So much capability locked up inside. We make a difference for others, everyday of our lives, may I remind you ladies to also make a difference for yourself … because you’re more than worth it … you are essential!

All my love,

Penny

She Stands for what makes our Country Great – Freedom! Don’t Let Her Down!

(Please Read)

Freedom – the one word recognized by all peoples who arrive and then stay in the United States of America have in common is Freedom. The Statue of Liberty represents this as does the Statue of Liberty Poem, now an important part of our history. Let us not prove her wrong and lessen who we are as Americans and human beings.

New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome’ her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Emma Lazarus. 1848-1887

There is a crisis, thousands of children in peril of their very lives (from Central America, not Mexico) and they are coming to our country for safety and refuge. Are we still the caring land of Freedom? Do we give a damn or are we so into ourselves and our rights, ingrained in our wants and our entitlements that we’ve laid aside our souls. I’m so embarrassed and ashamed that everything seems to be related to money or politics.

Have we forgotten to do what’s right and humane and caring and loving? Have we? Most of our ancestors entered this land for the same reasons as these children. There is no difference. There should be none now and even more than that they are children, for God’s Sake!

Show you care,

~ Penny
