What do we do next? We bloggers, We artists, We people …

In the digital world of today … how do we not just survive but thrive?

It’s Tuesday, so what do we know today? We know we have things we have to do – And we know we have things we want to do – We know there is some information we want or need to know more about – and far more information that we don’t have a clue about (what-so-ever, except it’s messing us up a lot) because it’s too much to deal with (emotionally speaking). And “way” too much of the information is negative, isn’t it (TMI- Right?) But, there you go, the above sums things up nicely, I believe.

So what do we do next?

First, understand the nature of the online world; behind the scenes what is going on. Here’s the truth – Many (almost all) corporate/government entities are “crowd sourcing” (gathering information) to create digital profiles. In a nutshell finding out all about you. You’ve made it possible. You’re one of the hundreds of millions online exposing yourself through many little data bytes circulating the airwaves.

And the “Big Boys” of the planet want to know all about you either as a consumer (to potentially buy their product) or as a citizen of their country (How you feel about your country, the issues, your concerns the politicians, etc. Research that will help them raise money and/or potentially influence you to get your vote OR making sure you aren’t doing something subversive, detrimental to your country’s well being.)

Like it or not that is what’s going on, right now. Data collecting of a volume inconceivable for most of us to imagine and each entity (depending on the quality of their “industry cloud capability”) is efficiently organizing the data into a variety of profiles for current or future reference. Is it the big brother era? Well sort of. But we’ve made ourselves willing partners in this intrusive aspect of the online experience, whether we know it or not!

Meanwhile you’re busy doing your own gathering of information, gathering as a citizen and a consumer yourself. So how do you handle all of this information and your awareness of everyone else’s information gathering.

Short of something really bad happening (meteor strike, large solar flare, etc.) all this data is going to continue to be gathered (and much of it circulated). Just a fact and there will be lots of “talk” because that’s what talk shows (in all media – News programs, etc.) do – and much of it is negative because “viewership” (that’s you) goes up when they (talk show hosts and their “expert” guests) talk about ‘what’s wrong’.

So the talk shows are going to talk about all sorts of never-ending stuff that will complicate you life and view of things (if you listen too much) even more. But let’s forget that for right now and get back to you and where you are.

Turn your computer off and think about your goals, needs, wants and desires. Consider how you might achieve them. View online connections as “how” they may help you. Be specific here. Everyone is giving “advice”, suggestions and in many cases “selling something”. So your main focus should be why you’re on line.

  1. To be Entertained
  2. To Find out information on a subject
  3. To Buy something
  4. To Sell something
  5. Socially connect with other people
  6. Promote Yourselves (through various social networks)
  7. Use any combination of the first six reasons you’re online to assist you in accomplishing your own goals

So where you go next is to make a plan of action to more effectively use your connectivity. Arrange the above reasons and allot a time period (yes – a little discipline is required here).

  • If you’re a student researching – stick to getting the info. before you “game play” or check out the latest trending YouTube video.
  • If you’re an artist, search for “like minded” creative individuals who will help you nourish your creative goals.
  • If you’re selling something, learn about your perspective customers. And how to reach them (online and off).
  • if you’re a professional in an industry and are job searching, focus on those companies and their background so you’re well informed about the company and their goals before you submit a resume! And yes they will be using the internet to check “you out” this process can take many months – so be prepared for this one.
  • If you’re buying something (take the extra time to check out the source before your purchase – be a smart consumer.)
  • If you want to be entertained – go for it, there’s all sorts of fascinating things waiting to be viewed/listened to – out there.
  • and if you just want to “hang”, be social with others, start a blog, join Facebook, learn how to Tweet or find a social media platform that fills this need.

But don’t forget your offline world. Organize your time so your online time has a sense to it with very specific timelines.

The most important thing to do with your online world of connectivity is to stay in command of both the offline and online you. You need to stay in control of the amount of “data” your mind allows entry to. Integrate this brave new world of communication so it works for you on your adventures through life … not against you!

Have a great day,

Blogging for our lives – filling creative needs and desires!

Credit line: © Alexaldo | Dreamstime.com

Blogging (in it’s truest form) is three separate things rolled into one. I) A palette or template for us to create or view (feeding the creative soul). II) A method of communicating our thoughts, emotions and creative endeavors (sharing our creative souls) and III) a conduit for directly connecting with other like minded people (helping us to fill our need for uncritical companionship (mostly, lol) so we don’t feel so alone in the “life” of things.)

All forms of social media “online”, do accomplish one or more of these. However it does seems as if blogging has the ability to combine all three better than any other Internet media platform. Most especially, the “alone-ness” that all of us have (more or less).

The truth is, In spite of all the connectivity (online) – we are lonely today. Disenfranchised from many traditional connections that used to be a part of daily routines that we, our parents and their parents grew up with. And a sad true is that while the online connections ease these lonely feelings, they can also foster them.

It’s safer (emotionally) and easier to communicate from a screenCredit line: © Dario Lo Presti | Dreamstime.com (computer, iphone, etc.). The quick “Twitter and Facebook” FIX and the more leisurely blog interactions remind us we are not alone and that we can instantly share our thoughts and opinions about what others are saying and doing while we also present new thoughts and ideas continuously adding to whole “instant connectivity” of things.

The result of which is when we aren’t doing this “instant connecting” we’re lonelier. Why? Because for those brief bursts of interactions we did feel “connected” a part of a larger whole. Having a voice, making a difference, no matter how small. And that … well, it’s very important to us. To be heard. To “matter”. And so the addictive “online” personality develops within us – feeding our soul while longing for even more!

So where do we go with this? I’m thinking we need to keep blogging and being creative and sharing and interacting. We, social media active people are the next step towards a global unity … commonness of cause. In the bottom line of things, we are making a difference and … it is extending into the offline world even as we are continuing to create, connect and Credit line: © Alexmillos | Dreamstime.comvoice our concerns and needs.

We (that’s you too) are making a “huge” as in H-U-G-E difference! So my wonderful blogging friends, please feel good about your blogging and our blogging community. Keep creating and sharing and reaching out! I’m loving it and many, many others are too!

I hope you’re having a excellent weekend of things (rainy here – but I love the rain so am thoroughly enjoying the sounds of rain falling while I write this post to you! 🙂

The Vertigo of Change

Suspended in the moment, I think “what is happening?” My emotions seem so intense, yet my balance with life so far removed from what it should be.

There is a feeling of dizziness and beneath that is this amazing rebirth I feel emerging inside me; basic, elemental and needed.

The coordinated dizziness, internal sensations of MY awakening while technology races on. I am swept up in a matrix of life’s design. I marvel from one heartbeat to the next at who I am and what I will be.

If I can just find my balance, the future is waiting for me.

Are You Thinking Asleep?

file0001894094118

When you think, are your thoughts busily reviewing the list of “to do’s” that aren’t done yet? Are you dwelling on things that have already happened or are happening around you now? Are you thinking “awake” or thinking “asleep”?

Our thoughts, become words, (whether stated or written) becoming actions. And more and and more of us today are thinking asleep with our actions. We go through life’s daily chores in an almost robotic type of modality where even our emotions are repetitious in nature.

We are thinking asleep. We are mostly in a response mode. We are stuck in a groove. Yes, most especially the “I have too many things to do, so I’m not sure what to do next” groove. The other popular groove that many are caught up in today is the “poor me, I have too many problems to deal with and other people don’t care” or “I’m in a strictly reactionary mode as it refers to me personally, everything else I relate to is at a distance, from a position of security.” Voicing concerns but staying uninvolved at a personal level, because that’s what’s Safe.

Well guess what? Wake up! Life is happening all around you.

When you think awake, you think a thing and then YOU ACT ON IT! Put it into affect. You stop spending time on what’s wrong with yourself and focus on what’s right. The world’s problems begin with you!

No more thinking on what your missing in life (with a myriad of excuses you give to yourself and others each day) because (here’s the biggy)

… YOU DETERMINE WHAT DIRECTION YOU’RE GOING TO HEAD IN. HOW YOU’RE GOING TO FEEL ABOUT THE DAY AND WHAT YOU CAN MAKE OF YOURSELF IN THE PROCESS. THAT’S YOU. IT IS PERSONAL BECAUSE YOU’RE THE ONE STANDING GUARD OVER YOUR LIFE, AND IF YOU AREN’T, WHY NOT?

You belong to you before anything else. You came into the world and breathed in life as a single entity and you’ll depart the same way. This is a simple truth. No one’s going to crawl in the coffin with you, but I guarantee you there are many out there more than happy to help you dig your own grave, but only if …  YOU LET THEM.

The Sleeper must awaken! (always wanted to use that line)

Start by thinking awake. Look directly at what you’ve decided you haven’t been doing AND START DOING IT!

No, life isn’t safe, it’s filled with risks (going after most worthy things have risk involved.) No,  life won’t suddenly become wonderful, but it will begin to head in the direction you want it to.

Life happens whether you involve yourself in it or not. You decide how much control events will have over you. YOU DO!

When you start thinking awake a whole new world of possibilities awaken. You become energized with renewed feelings of hope and anticipation.

And you’ll be living your life to it’s fullest, not regretting in bitterness or sorrow what you didn’t do, when you could have, because you were thinking asleep !

The Other Side

Please don’t misunderstand me. While this video is a reality representing various conditions of human existence on this planet, I am not saying that the pursuit of pleasure is a bad thing. It is a good thing to pursue happiness and pleasure as well as the fulfillment of reaching one’s goals in life.

I’m only pointing out (what we know, but choose not to dwell on): the distance (discrepancy) between those who have and those who do not. It is too extreme, and should not exist today on this “enlightened?” “educated?” and “informed?” planet.

~

~

The video is just a clarifying point between “Those who have and those who do not.” “Those who are free and those who are not.” “Those who starve and those who do not.” “Those who live and those who do not!”

And a reminder of what we “civilized individuals in pursuit of our own personal goals” take for granted, every single day, as the distance between those who have and those who do not, increases with the passing of each day.

Today, I think I’ll be me!

Living your life for or through others is a very unhealthy thing. I wrote this for someone I know. She spent too many years in this mode until she herself realized what she needed to do for herself to be a whole person. It is a reminder to others as well:

Yesterday and the day before,
I was told who I should be and everyone agreed (except me)!

Yesterday and the day before I was the person
everyone wanted me to be (except me)!

 Yesterday and the day before,
I did things the way others had decided I should do things, to please them not myself.

Yesterday and the day before,
I just went along with the others to keep the peace, not because I thought it was right.

Yesterday and the day before,
I was miserable and didn’t like the me I’d become very much, at all.

Yesterday I almost decided,
I didn’t want to be here or anywhere, any more.
I wasn’t sure who I was or why I even existed.
I even wondered if I’d be missed by anyone.
And then it dawned on me. I’d miss me.
In fact I’d been missing the “me” I am inside for a very long time.

And yesterday I finally realized,
that all my yesterdays weren’t mine at all.
And I decided that was all over.
Today, I think I’ll be me.
I’ll have my own independent thoughts and opinions and I will voice them.

Today, while I’m being me I’ll get to know myself even better,
in fact I think I’ll start introducing myself to others.
There is a whole bunch of “me” inside just waiting to come out.
And I think it’s about time.

Today I think I’ll be me!

Elusive Dream Lover

So here’s the thing, several of my blogging friends have been speaking about the “muse” of things. So there I was thinking about love as it would be with lovers, or perhaps even an elusive thing and this poem happened, so, hold on, it’s a little bit out of my normal style but it’s all you creative and wonderful bloggers fault. You just inspire me so much!

She came to him in the night

While he slept,

A delicate whisper caressing his skin

He felt her words

“I am yours”

He sighed in his dreams

Drifting within the magic of night.

Her voice softly whispered

“I am yours”

He breathed deeply, her taste intoxicating

He stirred but did not awaken

Her moist breath enveloping his senses

“Take me”

His body flaring forgotten passions

His longing so intense

The music of her sultry and sinuous words

“I am yours”

He slumbered on

 Asleep, impassioned

“I am yours”

He sighed in his dreams

Gently she lay down

By his side

Her body contouring with his

“Forever”

Exploring the World of Bloggers

You may have noticed that my last few posts have been reblogs. Just couldn’t help myself. I have spent the last few days exploring other blogger sites and viewing into their creative and often inspirational world via the blogging social network. I have been visiting all over the world. How wonderful is that!

I don’t know about the rest of you but I am fascinated by where all of you other bloggers, my online friends live, and how far from me (geographically speaking) that location is.

Each day I check my flag counter to see if any new flags have shown up indicating I have a potential new friend somewhere in the world I’ve not been to before (online).

There was a very popular song in a commercial that came out some years ago by a HUGE beverage company that I won’t name (copyright and trademark infringement) But it became very popular because the song alluded to the world and being in perfect harmony (Anybody got any guesses on who that company is, lol?) To me the blogging world comes very close to epitomizing this wish!

This is truly one of the things I have come to enjoy about this unique blogging world. It really is the whole world. The planet we all reside in. Our world. We the citizens of this planet have this most wonderful way to connect instantly to one another. We share our thoughts and dreams, ideas and concerns, and of course our creative talents – receiving love and encouragement from one another while we do so. I JUST LOVE IT! The whole complete experience of connecting with others regardless of where they live!

So, a quick thank you to those who follow me,a thank you to those I follow and I am looking forward to meeting all the rest of you as soon as may be. (estimates suggest that there are roughly 180 million+ blog sites around this world of more than 7 billion inhabitants! Just to put this in perspective here! )

Thanks again to all who blog, I greatly appreciate the richness and variety of creativity that each and every one of you represent! Sharing with each of you fills my heart with gladness and renewed hope for our planets future!
