Self Determination begins with SELF!

IMAG3900-1-1-1

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a self determination button. You see it sparkling out there in front of you. You reach out and hit the button, and just like magic – you become self determined and ready to take charge of your life.

Well, guess what? There is one. More of a metaphorical button than a physical one, but it’s still real. And it works too.

Self determination begins when you begin asking questions for yourself. Of yourself, of others. And once you get the answers, you act on them. You don’t wait for someone else. YOU make it happen.

So push the button, ask that first question. Here’s a good question to start off with: Do I feel good about myself and where I am in my life? Another good question: What can I do about it?

you should know you can count on

Being Cherished

The greatest need of all, after the needs of food, clothing and shelter are satisfied, is to be cherished by someone. To know that in a special someone’s heart we have a home we can count on.

Material goals are perceived as necessary in civilization today. But if that is true, it doesn’t then explain all the divorces, over-eating, over indulging in those very same material goals that obviously aren’t doing the trick, only achieving short term happiness along with a lot of unhappy, unfulfilled, sick and miserable people out there.

Do you cherish someone? Let them know. And let them know you need to be cherished too? Today! It’s important, it matters!

“Truly cherishing and being cherished is at the “heart” of what love is all about.”

And just so you know, I cherish you, “my worldwide friends” more than you can ever imagine. You matter and I don’t forget it – not for a nanosecond!

With love and affection,

~ Penny

Share your love!

Many think we’ll run out of time because our lives are too short to do what needs to be done; to change what needs to change to make humanity (in its entirety) the best that we can be.

But I don’t believe it!

The Strength of A Woman!

Tears of Compassion

Tears do not make one weak. The salty liquid flows freely into the wounds of our trials, increasing resolve and determination to make things better – equal – balanced.

When looking at one of the symbols for justice, you will see it’s represented by a blindfolded female holding the balance scale. I’ve always found that intriguing and representative of how a woman’s role has historically been viewed – still is.

It is increasingly obvious that it is not the woman who is blinded by what she is or isn’t, but rather she is blindfolded by those who see her as – less than.

Personal strength is not about being more physically capable (although all bullies consider it so), strength is also about character, determination, our individual willingness and ability to care. To balance all of our human attributes with greater awareness and understanding and always with compassion. When a woman cries she demonstrates this – crying is not weakness. I repeat – not a weakness.

The sad truth is, too often, weakness of character manifests into physical brutality by an otherwise weak individual – to get their way. Winning by being mean, physically/verbally abusive and in the extreme, killing other people (even in the name of war) is often the easy way out. War achieves first and foremost – death and misery. Power, and the misguided belief “might makes right” has been in existence since the beginning of our caveman days,  and continues on today in many areas of society, government, and big business.

A woman’s compassion is one of humanity’s greatest survival strengths. A man’s physical strength poses for him some of his greatest’s blind-spots and handicaps. Most women want to protect all life, inherently a part of their nurturing nature, and a large part of their strength.

Those who view women as “lesser than” also tend to consider life as just another commodity to be used – as needs be. Again history bears this out. So does the repeated raping and brutality of women, children and the planet itself that we ALL live on.

Universally recognizing the female’s important and ‘completely equal’ half in the “human equation of life”, along with her amazing and natural strengths, can only assist mankind in truly becoming more balanced – it’s time for the blindfold to be gone.

The Game of Life – If you can’t win, be creative!

Don’t you feel that sometimes life is like playing a game. And it can be especially difficult when you feel like you’re missing part of what you need in order to play the game well.

By pschubert

However, I like to think that for us ‘creative types’, we compensate for our game playing shortcomings with a most magnificent imagination. Changing (in our minds) the game more to our liking.

At least part of the time. As needed. Upon occasion. Every now and then. (Okay, sometimes more than we should!)

So stay creative, my friends. Keep your imagination alive and well. After all its what kids do best when they’re playing games. It works well for them!

Have a good day and better tomorrow,

Ready for your Close-up?

By kakisky

“I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. Demille!”

In life we never know when opportunity will present itself! The best way to be ready for the chance you’ve been waiting for – is to fix in your mind a strong belief that you know it will happen! Not just wishful thinking or a dreamers dream – but that absolute “belief in yourself“, your possibilities and your potential!

“Believing in yourself!  One of the most important elements

for attracting opportunities that can lead to your success!”

~ PennyQuote, 2014

And – then (of course) be ready to take advantage of the opportunity that has arrived! Are you ready for your close-up?

I hope everyone had a pleasant and relaxing weekend. Do have a good week ahead and remember … always … take care of you!

Your Singular Beauty!

By greyerbaby2

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When you behold a reflection of yourself, do you see the beauty of your soul, your singular uniqueness, your value? Or are you blind to your own beauty.

Inner beauty shines outwardly when you are thankful for who you are. When you consider yourself special and having worth. And make no mistake here, others see this radiating beauty most clearly!

Absolutely true!

“May your beauty shine,

not only for others but for yourself as well!

Self Determination Tip: Know yourself. Focus not only on the areas you want to improve upon, but also on the parts that need no improvement what-so-ever! The unique YOU that you are. Self determination begins to happen when you start to really believe in yourself.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Opening Doors to Success! Your Self Determination!

By Seemann

Who knew “opening doors” could be so difficult? What doors are you trying to open? The one to help you feel better about yourself? Or perhaps a better home for you and your family? Those would be the doors of self determination! A better job, or career … looks like you’re still at the door of self-determination. Your own business? Self determination! Making positive things happen for yourself and others? Yes, still the same door of self determination!

Do you notice a theme going on here? The secret to opening doors that will lead you to your success in bringing about the changes you desire – is to tell yourself you can do it. And then make it happen through repeated persistence, cultivating a – never give up, some way – some how, attitude!

Is it easy? Of course not! Nothing worthwhile comes easy. Self determination doesn’t just happen. There’s more than just a bit of work required. Is it doable? Yes – if you think  you can (and you can)! Is it worth it? Absolutely!

When opportunity knocks at your door,

remember you’re the one who needs to open it!”

Thanks for your visit today. In the coming weeks I’ll be sharing a few specific “how-to’s” on what and how you can achieve a strong self determining attitude. In the meantime, Remember to keep taking care of you. If you don’t secure your own health and well-being first, anything you are striving towards becomes much more difficult.

Regrowth and Renewal – Yes you can!

I can’t believe it! It’s actually almost spring, here in the Northern part of Northwest America.

By Karpati Gabor

But I am excited about it. Waking up in predawn mornings with the sun filtering through wispy morning clouds, the cool air breezing through my open window bringing birdsong melodies – refreshing and invigorating.

Robin by hotblack

I for one, am happy to embrace both the new day and the glorious beginnings of Earth’s annual renewal! Time to rethink my own personal regrowth and renewal. Overdue, actually.

It has become far too easy for all of us to get caught up in the same “everyness” of things happening in our daily lives.

Right now, small changes can truly make a difference for you when you feel in a bit of a rut.

Think about it, make it happen – You Can Do it!

Have a great week,

~ Penny
