When All Is Said and Done

image

Why do you do what you do each day?

Why is it important to you? Your hopes, your dreams, your aspirations, your goals.

When all is said and done, are you happy? Have a feeling of fulfillment? Satisfied?

The thing is we don’t know what tomorrow or even the next few minutes may bring, speaking from personal experience.

So my point – It’s important to live your life fully. And its important to reach outward, extend your knowledge and experience … but regarding your goals it is equally important to reflect and determine why you have the goals you have and your expectations.

Being financially secure is definitely important, however there’s a diminishing return on personal value if earning more money for the sake of having more “things” takes over.

At the end of their life nobody wants to hug their money or their accumulated stuff. What they all want & need is human connection.

And at the end of the day, most of us want to be able to share our day’s happenings with another person(s).

Dont forget whats really important in your life. For optimum happiness – a sense of fulfillment, being needed, and worthy with a purpose in your life – relationships with people (of all ages) should be the main thing, not a side item … when all is said and done!

Thank you for stopping by, have a great week and … as always, take care of you.

With affection,
Penny

The Thing is … Are We Lost or What?

going_with_the_wind

And the other thing is we all know it’s true. At least those of us being honest with ourselves. today’s mess came about slowly and in a rather insidious manner as we in the “civilized societies” became accustomed to listening, then viewing, then participating in the latest great new commercial thing, including gas guzzling or electronic machinery and now modern technology.

Problem is we haven’t kept pace, in terms of full awareness and understanding of “effects” that so many of these ever increasing “modern” changes have caused to our lifestyles. Mega Industries whipping out processed food (with much of the natural things leeched out and many artificial chemical preservatives added). The never ending new tech. devices. plastic toys, plastic wrap and plastic bottles (plastic everything actually) all for the sake of convenience creating an out of control approach to what we eat, how we eat and when we eat. How we do, what we do and when we do it.

The breakdown of many family units who struggle, on the one hand to keep up, but meanwhile seem to be able to have many of the technological devices (at the expense of more debt). And meanwhile most of the people on the planet are poor, or much worse. Our responsibility – YES! Because it is the mega companies going into these emerging countries (as well as our own) that, in many cases have increased their poverty through irresponsible activities so their gigantic concerns can make more money!

Everything is so mixed up. Billions are wasted annually, by our government to “protect” us. But nobody’s really keeping an eye on how the money is being spent and why.

The oceans are filled with plastic refuse and other waste, detritus and litter. We’re using up our “fresh” water at an alarming rate. We’re poisoning our lands and killing millions of creatures annually through neglect and careless decision making.

I could go on and on. But we already know these things. Take our great country of USA. I am proud to be an American, and of the bravery of our soldiers who’ve been sent to foreign shores, many to not return, or who return wounded (and should be honored and helped, not forgotten as many are). But I’m increasingly ashamed of my government. Who seems to be oblivious to the damage we’re doing to ourselves and our lands.

Politicians (for the most part) are more concerned with being re-elected and keeping their salary or are power hungry and all to frequently buying or should I say selling into those gigantic mega International Conglomerates, I mentioned earlier, because of financial support they will receive. We’re pretty sure if a politician speaks we’re being lied to. And for good cause.

If a politician isn’t busy being involved with cultivating people and influence then they appear to spend the rest of their time pointing fingers and accusing those with whom they are in disagreement. To the end nothing much gets accomplished at the government level, except chaos, confusion and disagreement. And I believe this is true in many other countries as well. Money, commercialization, commodities, greed, and the need for having it all, have replaced many important values we as a people need in order to survive and thrive.

We have lost our way, and I’m fearful that it will take some severe natural disaster for us to come to our senses and work together again, as we always do in times of crisis and disaster – and why is that, anyway … why can we only be good to each other when conditions are extreme?

What’s the next step? What can we do to help? I don’t have an answer, I feel in many ways I’m just one of the many that is part of the problem here and unless we the people, unified can come to a consensus and make some hard choices to change our current out of control lifestyles (so filled with daily waste and neglect), to work on improving our attitudes about one another, I fear things are not going to improve any time soon. In my opinion.

And I’m an optimist by nature, so that’s saying something. I hope my words hold some value and you’ll consider them carefully. I do believe each of us can make small changes that can be of help and I know there are those doing that very thing. So I stay hopeful in spite of all my words above.

I do believe in mankind, although I also believe it is time for more women to be in positions of power. We’re more empathetic, more willing to listen to other viewpoints besides our own, and (because we bring life into the world) are far less likely to see war and the killing of innocent lives as a solution to things. Again in my humble opinion, only.

Sincerely,

~ Penny

Part 2 -The False Complacency of Obsolescence – What we really NEED!

By RyanMBevan

Part Two -Our greatest need is …

To Be Valued And Loved!

The two do go together, having a value and being loved. Yet in a world filled with people, our greatest need goes unfulfilled. And unfortunately, around the planet, it is children and adults (in fact all life) who are unloved and found valueless that are suffering from starvation, disease, abuse, poverty and death.

It is the children and adults in the larger inner cities that go homeless and hungry, abused and mistreated because they believe themselves to be (and in many cases are shown to be) unloved and having no value.

It is the many working adults and their children struggling to make ends meet in our ever changing environment who undervalue themselves, feeling unloved and wondering how to make everything be okay … Just okay.

It is the condition of false complacency that underlies – allowing all of these things to continue.

Bottom line, without exception we ALL need Love and a sense of purpose because we matter, and many of us need to be told this and have it visibly demonstrated in order to really believe it. And that isn’t happening the way it should.

Money doesn’t matter, let me repeat this so it’s a little clearer … MONEY DOESN’T MATTER after the basics I mentioned are attended to. If civilization as a whole is feeling forgotten, unloved and of no value, it’s because money has achieved a greater importance than the loving arms of someone holding you with true affection, a firm handshake of fellowship and positive connections being made across the lines of those who think differently than we do.

Humanity cannot truly move forward as long as the accumulation of wealth and material items for its own sake (which begets greed, the need to control and of course war and subsequent human loss and casualties) is viewed as the primary goal to success.

Loving and caring more. Sharing more. Encouraging more. Realizing you do need a lot less material items in your life. Being there for family and friends. Reaching out. Making a positive difference. THAT’S WHAT IS ULTIMATELY GOING TO MOVE EARTH SOCIETY FORWARD.

Currently the biggest problems we are dealing with have to do with complacency, apathy, indifference, greed and laziness and of course the belief that all things have a predetermined shelf life, including us. These problems in turn have caused all the other problems we find so overwhelming and … as is most generally the case, we are the root cause.

Ironically, happiness is always found in the simple things in life, and those things turn out to be the most important!

Seek value in everyday things. Recapture worth by finding it within yourself and others. Love, reach out, share, care – be there for family and friends. In the process you’ll discover your own heart filling with love. A heart filled with love has no room for hate. A mind filled with thoughts of giving and sharing has no room for greed or complacency. And achieving purpose that is filled with making a positive difference, finds value and worth in all things and all life … as it should be.

Much love to you this day thank you for reading,

Ecology vs Economy – Which green is more important?

file9791238874639

There is absolutely no doubt about it. A healthy economy today is directly in opposition to a healthy ecosystem. No question (from my point of view) that a nonsensical lifestyle bearing little resemblance to a harmonious whole, exists today.

The importance of money and profits increase daily. And with each passing day it also becomes more intrusive on the natural order of things. Pushing humanity back at the same time it pulls us forward into an even more artificial existence.

alberi

True and positive change for the health and well-being of ourselves and our planet will occur dramatically when the economics of society and our lifestyles are not diametrically opposed to the naturally occurring ecosystem of our planet.

It is not just about our ecological footprint, it is about the our whole body (all 7 billion+ of us) and how we are negatively impacting our planet.

For a single example: Compare the Stock Market on Wall street to a Stalk of grass (an untampered stalk of grass. Be it wheat, corn, or other). The Stalk is viewed as only representative of worth or value to the Stock of things, economic growth is the important aspect not the maintenance of natural ecological growth.

The naturally occurring stalk of grass has been radically changed within our great multinational agricultural world. And the stalk does not stand alone. Misuse of fossil fuel reigns supreme, in the name of economic growth, where all manner of change has occurred on our planet, sadly without (in most instances) taking into count the fragile relationships that all things have to each other in our natural world.

We are not a stupid people. We see the results everywhere and we’re beginning to feel them too. We are as much of the problem as we can be part of the solution. Which green is more important to you and your family’s future? It should be a no-brainer. But it isn’t. Money is seductive. And this means that those with power and money need us, as consumers to keep buying things.

Consuming is what we do best, in fact we are consuming not only our natural resources but our future, as well.

So as a consumer myself, I ask you this … Which green is more important to you?

The Rightness of Wrong

The Commercial Human

“When a thing is right for all the wrong reasons

then it is surely wrong for all the right reasons

we humans should be attending to?”

A great many words float about everywhere.

And photos and videos surely to spare.

quotes are abounding, good sayings so wise,

information is shared in all sorts of guise.

~

Then why am I troubled with all that there be,

Many bits and pieces – worrisome to me.

~

Too much, too much, my poor mind screams,

Can not take more – what does this mean?

It cannot be thought right to move at this pace,

We are advertising commercials filling all space.

~

Slow down, slow down, we really must pause,

For every effect, there is a cause.

I mean what I say but how can this be?

It’s easy of course, the blind cannot see.

Perhaps it is time to remove the artificial from our eyes and look to one another for that which is needed, so that all of life (including us) can survive and thrive!

Come and Get Your Happiness!

I think we complicate life too much today. No matter how tech savvy, or sophisticated we become, we pay not enough attention to many of those things that really matter for our happiness; the simple, every day things. Think on this for awhile … There is so much in our lives, ours for the appreciating … If we just take a little time to do so!

#sunshine #rainbows #smiles #laughter #a good deed – received or given #love #hugs #all life #nature #friends, and of course #family!

No matter who we are, No matter our age or where we live, we all long for happiness. Seek it by appreciating the things in life that are already yours … let sunshine into your life.

Have an excellent week ahead my friends, both here and around the world. A special prayer for all those who struggle with adversity, war and famine. May your hearts stay hopeful and you and your families stay safe from harm.

Economics 101 – Knowing the true worth/value of your society!

Sheepish decisions

“Is it safe to come out yet?”
“We’re sheep, are you kidding me?”

. . .

Is there such a thing as true value?
And if there is, would you recognize it?

. . .

The ‘worth’ of each human begins with the beating of each and every heart.

The value of the ‘worth’ determined as we go through our individual life experiences.

While we decide for ourselves what ‘value’ may be to each of us, none-the-less, it is always decided with each beat of our heart! And what we decide to do about things.

THEREFORE …

Economically (fiscally) speaking, healthy, happy engaged and employed human beings trump every other value ‘per capita’ when it comes to the worth of a thingAlways! (Even in this technological, consumer activism, ‘money making money’ economy driven society!)

The value of each human begins from the moment of their existence.

Consequently the road to economic prosperity – for all societies (no exceptions) is always dependent (first) on the well-being of humans (both men and women), including all living entities, with which we humans coexist (and depend upon) on our planet!”

What is the “true” economic worth and value of your country (society you live in) right now?

Ladies (and gentlemen) isn’t it time to put our perspectives in order and begin at the very essence of what prosperity (worth/value) really is, – Knowing and honoring the true value of LIFE itself – and continuing on from there!

Yes, you can – Yes you can! Getting funded for your business!

Credit line © Upixa2 Dreamstime.com

When you promote, sometimes the trick is coming up with a trick! Something innovative and clever enough that gets you the attention you need.

Some years ago I started up a small marketing firm, and I ran into a few financial problems where I needed to raise funds (when you’re a new young business, this can happen – a lot). I knew about an “angel investor” a weathy entrepreneur who “invested” and/or lent money to young businesses. He’d give them a helping hand … if he liked their business idea.

The problem, getting in to see this large business owner was next to impossible. He had a personal assistant, a private secretary and several receptionists that handled most of his correspondence. And a very busy schedule with national and international interests!

He didn’t attend many of the local city (Portland, Oregon) business type affairs and functions. I was really struggling with how to get by his various assistants who I knew would show me the door. So how was I going to get an appointment with this individual?

And then I came up with an idea. My budget was almost non-existent, yet I spent a substantial amount of money on a beautiful bouquet of flowers. One that looked professional but personal, and I wrote a short message, sealed it inside a small envelope and had the flowers with the “envelope” delivered to the investor, himself!

I was betting on the fact that none of his aides would feel comfortable opening the envelope addressed to him. And they weren’t. He was the first person to read my note.

The next morning I received a call from the personal assistant. His opening words to me were “You’re are very clever Penny, Mr — said to tell you he will give you just 15 minutes of his time on Monday, at 8 a.m. sharp.”

Yes I was excited but very nervous. I organized all the documentation I felt I needed to show him, I reviewed, again and again what I had to say and in what order to get his attention. I only had 15 minutes to accomplish my goals. The morning came, I showed up. I was led into a gorgeous office suite overlooking the water, from Swan island where his offices were located.

I shook his hand, looked directly into his eyes, told him why I needed the money, what I planned to do with it, handed him the paperwork to back it up (which he glanced at and set aside) and then he proceeded to ask me a lot of business type questions, by then the 15 minutes were up and his aid opened the door and said “Sir your long distance call is waiting.”

I knew that was the signal my 15 minutes were up, but then my potential investor looked at his aide and said “I’m not through here yet, I’ll call them back.” I stayed 45 minutes, had to return in a week with more paperwork but he did agree to help!

Previous to my meeting, I’d been told by another business owner, that almost anyone who approached this individual when asking for money, never made it past 10 minutes, before the long distance phone call happened! So I was very pleased and honestly proud of my accomplishment – because through the whole process I was “scared to death” and not sure I could do it!

His final words on our first meeting were. “Oh and Penny, the flowers are beautiful, thank you.”

And the message? Would you like to know what I wrote? It said:

“Dear Sir, I am a young entrepreneur and if you meet with me I can prove to you that I have a business idea you would want to invest in! Enjoy the flowers, either way! Thank you, Penny”

This is a memory I will always remember fondly, because in spite of my fear and doubts I proved to myself that “Yes I can and guess what … If I can, then so can you!”

What’s a Penny Worth? Looks like Nadda!

JMM_0571Yesterday Canada began phasing-out its Penny by saying it costs too much to produce.

The Royal Canadian Mint officially ends its distribution of one-cent coins to financial institutions.

Google is marking the passing of the Penny with a dedicated doodle on its Canadian home page.

New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Sweden and others have also dropped the Penny.

In American the U.S. Treasury Department says the administration is looking at cheaper materials to make the Penny, which is now made of zinc.

Two separate bills calling for the end of the Penny so far have failed.

But for how long. The pressure is on! The Penny is going the way of the Dodo bird, sigh!

This Penny plans to be around for a long time, no worries there, but it is sad to see the fate of the coin that I was named after. And of course all those wonderful sayings – will they soon have no meaning? I guess only time will tell.

A “Penny for your thoughts” on this one,

~ Penny

Fiscal Pickle – The Gorilla and Elephant in the Room!

Fiscal PickleFiscal Pickle

“Hello politicians everywhere! Don’t even think about looking at me for a solution to this mess. I may be the Gorilla in the room, but you’ve gotten so oblivious to the obvious that it’s your fiscal pickle! You’re on your own!”elephant in the room

“You figure it out.”

“I’m going to go hang with the Elephant in the room, actually he’s in the U.K. but you can’t see him either, so we can have a ball laughing at you guys going over the cliff in a barrel. The Fiscal Cliff that is!”

“Just like those enlightened and intellectual individuals who have attempted to do so at various times over there at Niagara Falls.”

“Oh joy three different metaphors here. But to the point: Even if you “got” any of the metaphoric idioms presented here would you even know what to do about the problem?”

“Don’t answer. Let me live not only invisible but in blissful ignorance too!”

~

220px-Annie_TaylorA brief political statement here, which isn’t something I usually do, but I take full responsibility for the contents of this message because I do see the gorilla and the elephant in the room (the ones clearly invisible to all politicians) and I most certainly would not go over the cliff in a barrel), but then that’s just me an ordinary citizen of this country trying to figure out when it’s going to dawn on our politicians that they should be more concerned with what the word Fiscal Responsibility means.
