That’s Just Not How Life Works – However …

hidden

*

I had to think a bit about the title for this blog because, as we know, life is an interesting mix of reality and – well something other, that we haven’t figured out yet – that which exists deep inside of us or outside our realm of understanding but that we still know has a connection to who we are … sort of. The perception of otherness being perhaps our spirit or our soul, or an individual sense of being, a universal consciousness.

Of course, subjectively speaking I haven’t precisely figured out how life does work. However, theoretically I have it down to a science. That is to say the science of our lives in this particular moment.

Cycles. An ongoing repetitious pattern of cycles playing out again and again with creative emotions thrown in the mix to ramp up, add color to the repetition. No seriously, think about it: I can pull passages from currently known written history of famous people who say and think the same exact things we are saying and thinking right now. Only the atmosphere, environment and players have changed … to a degree.

And if all the above words seem as confusing to you as the writing of them was for me then we are on the same page.

Life repeats itself, quite brilliantly so, and where you or I are in “the now of things” is just a microcosm of life carrying on it’s processes.  There still exists the basics in human nature. Hasn’t really changed much. Survival, peace, war, love, hate, possessions, worth, value, and so on still played out within a specific set of limitations. Self or group induced and accepted. As a result of genetic indicators or environmental factors, we keep going through similar patterns of being.

However …

when we determine to step out and away from the fray, the known paradigm of cycles and patterns, then and only then do we (your and/or I) grow beyond the known. Beyond that which represents those imposing boundaries in which we dwell.

Individualism, that’s the ticket, believe it or not. Your self realization comes first, your self worth comes second, open consciousness comes third and wherever you want to go comes forth (nope didn’t misspell that word)! Your ability to achieve whatever your goal might be greatly increases by following the above criteria. Absolutely. The variety and depth of personal life experiences shape every aspect of your current life and the life beyond. Period!

That’s it. I’m done for today, make of my words what you will. They are my truth as I believe it to be. Except for love. Always include lots and lots of love to pave your way.

Thanks for reading, have a great weekend to come,

~ Penny

Emergence/Change … I come for you!

Emergence/Change

 If you believe tomorrow comes

Then, this be a perfect time,

For me to open up your heart

And claim what must be mine.

*

But I fear I’m now not certain

I don’t know where to be,

There is too much, there is so much

And there is only me.

*

You are but one of many

Still l know just what to do,

My certainty it overflows

For every one of you.

*

If one believes in miracles

I can perform my deed,

Spread out my will and enter in

You’ll listen – you will heed.

*

If only you were wiser

I could do what I must dare,

The way would go more swiftly

And I would take you there.

*

If all the If’s were certainties

And all your dreams came true,

The rest would come so easily

To bring this time to you.

*

It’s you who I must care for

You and only you,

Open your mind and let me in

It’s time – I come for you!

My name is Change

Please let me in!

Walkabout – Mentally Speaking!

It’s been 7 days since I’ve posted or read a blog. Not very long in everyday terms, but in online social connection terms (Blogs, Tweets, Google+, Facebook, About.me, Linked in, etc.) it does seems as if it’s been much longer, doesn’t it?  Time passes differently while online and so while only 7 days, I’ve missed my connections with you all so very, very much.

Here, where I live, in Northwest America it snowed briefly and gently this morning. A quiet, crisp and clear beginning to start one’s day! A place you’d want your thoughts to dwell as much as possible with today’s hectic lifestyle. Change being the only constant in all of our lives.

In the past week I’ve been doing a mental “Walkabout” as Australians might refer to it. I’ve had much dwelling on my mind. Questing my “role” in things you could even say.

In ‘personal life’ adventures, nothing has been handed to me easily. I’ve worked my way through various stages of life while not necessarily emerging as a victor, none-the-less I also did not come away as a victim and instead am wiser in spite of cherished things that have been lost.

All my life I have tried to avoid direct confrontation and yet even through fears, stood as brave and strong as I could when it was needed. I’m ‘tempered’ as a metal might become by a clever blacksmith of yesteryear. I know my shortcomings and my strengths, but more to the point, this means – I know yours too.

We (all of us) live in a period of time where negative thinking about yesterdays, today and tomorrows must not be allowed to win over us. We are a strong people with strong wills – when we put our minds to  it! I know this about you. All of you. It is a truth. You are more capable than you can possibly know. In fact it’s only necessary for you to “know” and believe a thing for it to become a thing.

There is an astonishingly true “might and capability” that lies within each of you. Never forget that!

We, of humanity are on a glorious quest for life – but the quest is not an easy one. Yet, it’s the best game in town and I’m happy to be a part – in whatever role I play, and wherever it leads me to be.

Thursday is a Thanksgiving Holiday in America and as William Faulkner (an American writer and Nobel Prize laureate from Oxford, Mississippi) once said about the giving of thanks and gratitude:

“Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity;
it must be produced and discharged
and used up in order to exist at all.”
– William Faulkner

.

I agree with him. Love to you all. Stand tall. Be brave, live life, give thanks and always remember you’re never alone! I (for one) am here, thinking of you with “very fond affection and good wishes” for a wonderful day and better tomorrow.

What does it say when … (the truth about cruelty to women)!

Credit line: © Tinalau | Dreamstime.com

Did you know that over half of the people on the planet are female? Did you know that almost every single child (both male and female) born from a woman, experiences their first sense of being loved from a woman? Did you know that the far majority of women on the planet are nurturers who care for and nourish the growth and development of their own children, their siblings, their partners in life and later on, their aging parents?

Did you know that most women will stand up and fight when their family’s well-being is threatened? Did you know that in more and more countries women are better educated and making a greater difference, not just at home but in the community and far beyond?

Did you know there are more images of the “beauty” of women than any other, on the planet? Did you know that some of the most beautiful and enduring poems and stories ever written – have been written about the love for a woman?

SO WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT OUR HUMAN SPECIES … when (according to the most recent statistics from all countries on the planet – including the “free” and progressive USA – currently trying to take away some of a woman’s rights) so what does it say when BRUTAL VIOLATIONS AGAINST WOMEN are the most ignored, tolerated and dismissed in our justice system) of any crime on our planet? (And most domestic violent cases go unreported for the same reasons)!

What does it say?

dreamstime_xs_32873334

And I guess for me, my main question is, “where, do we … (Parents, Grandparents, Brothers and Sisters, Family members, Friends, Associates, Fellow humans) … where, do we tell growing young girls they can go to be protected (from violence directed “specifically at them” because they are “females”) in life, when it’s not their home, their community or their country? Where?

….

My personal plea to you –

“There is no justifiable excuse for cruelty – None!” – PLH

“Is it perhaps time for the “silent majority” to do something about this – NOW! And do you really care enough about your Mother, Sister, Family member, Friend, Any female, to really make a difference? Or are you going to let this continue! Because it’s getting worse – guys, a whole lot worse!

And bottom Line – what does this say … about us!

The Rest of the Story – Earth for lunch!

We do so many things today where we don’t really think about the ‘why’ of it. We think about the ‘what for’ and ‘how come’, not so much the why or …

… the rest of the story.

Here’s an example: Why do so many people frequent fast food restaurants every day? They didn’t used to. Before life became so hectic and busy (at home) they’d eat almost all their meals there, including preparing lunches to take to school or work. It was just the way it was. Connecting with the family and helping out with the meal preparation. So you’re thinking to yourself, “Oh so that’s the reason why. We’ve gotten too busy. Picking up fast food is convenient.” Well yes and no. That’s just the first part of the story.

The rest of the story has to do with how we initially felt when we stopped in at a fast food restaurant. It was fun. No work involved. yummy fat laden richness wrapped up in a treat like environment. These sensations hitting all of our “feel good” places. It was affordable, quick and pleasurable. At some point these same feelings were passed on to the next generation. Simply stated it became addictive. An easy enjoyable treat … and ‘in our minds eye” a solution to a meal.

Now it has become a part of many millions of people’s life styles. They will tell you and themselves that it is because its convenient, cheap, fast and fun but truthfully, It’s because it’s easier and it definitely (the moment it hits our addictive “feel good” center) has become a way of life, starting as soon as we’re old enough to “get it”.

The sad part is, the food is heavily processed, so as a constant diet, a very bad idea. but even more importantly we need to grow or purchase, in a market, fresh food items (to reconnect ourselves, more closely, to our interactions with the natural part of the planet we live on). Our awareness and involvement of the ecosystems (of which we are a part) is increasingly missing. And we need this connection for our health and the planet’s health as well.

We may live longer, but I don’t think most of us are happier. Many (at a young age) suffer from a variety of health complaints that didn’t exist 50 years ago. Stress not withstanding, (as it is certainly the main “killer” in our over processed life), the food we eat, where it comes from, the processing of it and our own lack of personal hands on involvement is the continuing results of the “fast food” mentality …

*… and that’s the rest of the story.

(*if these words sound familiar to any of you it’s because a very famous American radio talk show host from the 1950’s to the `90’s Paul Harvey” used these lines … as a part of his commentary. They served him well, so I’m borrowing them now. They do help to make a point!)

Have an excellent labor day today if you live in the U.S.A and a great week ahead for my friends who’ve already started their new week in our global community,

Good Day!

Alastairs Photo Fiction – The time portal!

Time for the delightful writing challenge of Alastairs Photo Fiction, Alastair shares with us one of his photographs to use as a prompt for writing a flash fiction (short-short) story of no more than 150 words. Writing from a photo prompt is fun, give this one a try! Click on his link for more details.

His photograph this week is the following:

Stepping Into The Future

“A picture of a time portal?” She shook her head handing the photo back to him. “I was expecting something – I don’t know – more exciting, a dark luminous tunnel, a pathway ending in a mist.”

He smiled, “I know, completely average looking. But this is it. The portal, between the first and second set of steps. By the time you reach the second set you’re in the future, when you turn and walk back down you’re in the past again.”

“Fascinating, but how do I know you’re not just making this up.”

His smile became broader. “I anticipated your question. So I took this picture before I came. Notice the date in the lower right hand corner.”

She looked at the date in the photograph and then at him.

“You’re from my future?”

“Yes,” he said, “But I couldn’t wait any longer to be with you,

so I came early!”

(150 words)

Aren’t Quotes wonderful things?

Hello everyone, Today is the start of a new week. As I begin my day today I think on the many quotes out there about the ‘present’, ‘future’ and ‘past’ of things! Each quote reminding us of some important quality of each of these three words.

remember yesterday

My thoughts today are to find …

A Place for All Three

Live in the present – today is the day you are living. The now of things!

Look to the future – the future is our hopes and our dreams, we need those!

And most especially, learn from your past.

~

live in the day

The third one “learning from our past” is the toughie. Our personal memories as well as the history of our ancestors is filled not only with what went right, but what went very wrong. We humans tend to get “hung up” with our negative emotions there.

Do try to remember that yesterday is over but can be a positive learning experience, if we don’t dwell on what went wrong but learn on how to do things better.

think on the future

~

By our choices each day we are a product of our own making. So it certainly makes sense to take advantage of what we (and our ancestors) have learned from the past. This gives us a more fruitful day to live in the present so that our lives will be richer (in health and happiness) tomorrow!

Incorporate each of the the three into your lives. Learn from the past, Live in the present, and Look to the future! Your choice, as always!

Have a great week!

Reaching for the stars

goodreads“What was humanity thinking? What are we even doing here?” He thought, realizing he’d spoken aloud when she replied.

“I don’t know? Improving our lot in life, I suppose.” She leaned back against the crater wall.

Sitting next to her on the surface of the moon beneath the shadow cast by the overhanging crater, he looked out over the moon’s dry and lifeless terrain.

He glanced up at the great cosmic darkness sparkling with trillions of stars while here they safely sat, encased in an invisible shell. Scientific technology had come far. He sighed, a heavy sigh of uncertainty.

“What are you thinking now, dearest one?”

“What do we do next?” He replied turning his head to gaze into her soft brown eyes filled with so much love.

She smiled, a gentle little playful smile, so adored by him from the moment of their first meeting. She rose and held her hand out to him.

…we dance!”

Their bodies swayed in fluid motion together, moving to the rhythm of their universal souls.

(We are the searchers of our futures. We are the seekers of our tomorrows. We are the dreamers of our possibilities. We are of the planet Earth.)

dance for the future

beckoning stars await us

our past stepping stones
