Would anyone know if there truly was an alien invasion? She thought. She pondered this question for a second longer and then laughed to herself. In a heartbeat we would! They are so noisy.

However, this was just one of the many thoughts passing through her mind while cleaning her mandibles. She paused to consider her forearms. They are beautiful, aren’t they? She reflected, her thoughts continuing on.

She’d debated whether or not to stay where she was. The alien beings had a habit of showing up and invading her space at all the wrong times, and she really didn’t wan’t anything to interfere with her mating. He’d be here soon. She’d been looking forward to this moment. It was sad that it seemed to last so very briefly, but then again this was just the way of things.

There was a crashing sound from nearby shrubs.

Aliens, she thought, disgustedly. Well, grass sticks, too late to move. The aliens made their way noisily through the underbrush. Even louder screechy sounds emanated from the heads of their bodies. She sighed in resignation, holding still, preparing for the onslaught of another interaction with alien humankind.

“Hey George, look. Isn’t that a preying mantis? Get your camera out, we should be able to get a good shot of this one.”

If I may suggest …

… take some time today to review the “Extremes” from your life experiences.

Think about those “somethings” those extreme’s in life, that have happened to you that you’ve tucked away inside and then left them there. Things you didn’t want to deal with or face, at various times in your past.

We carry these around with us, unexamined and only occasionally do we think to look at them … take them out in the bright light of day, dust off the cobwebs, and sometimes realize that we can finally put them down, let them go. They can’t hurt us anymore. Because our perspective on what happened has changed.

Perhaps it’s time for you!

Maybe today is a good day to put some of your extremes into perspective and …

move on!

Weekly Photo Challenge – The world through your eyes

It’s all about your point of view isn’t it?

This week The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is The World Through Your Eyes. The interesting thing is, in life the same view looks completely different – depending on who you ask!

I took this shot from the basement. I pointed my camera lens up one of the smaller window wells that hold the day windows in the basement. Franky & Jonny (my two cats) use this window to go in and out of the house. Just before they jump out they look up at the day. On some mornings when there’s weeding to be done, this is the scene that may greet their eyes.

I showed this picture to an 18 year old young man. He thought it was a “different sort of photograph”. I shared it with someone else who wondered why I took a picture of the weeds.

I showed this photograph to a very artistic 11 year old who took one look at the photo and said “that’s beautiful!” I asked why and she said “It just is!” I asked an adult who also thought it a pretty picture and she said “my, what an interesting perspective”.

I think this is true about most things in life. The view from our eyes is always uniquely our own! I think my cat’s look up and think “freedom!” But I’m just guessing on that one!

Have a great day today,

~ Penny

Perspective – the view from your eyes

Experiencing Life

The simple truth is that your life experiences change your perspective on how you look at things.

Sometimes drastically! Your choice to learn, gain wisdom and move on or be caught up in the past with memories of unfortunate happenings that will prevent you from going forward.

It’s all about perspective isn’t it!

I took this shot this morning. I pointed my camera lens up one of the window wells that house the day windows in the basement. Franky & Jonny (my two cats) use this window well to go in and out of the house. Just before they jump up and out they look out at the day. This is what they saw this morning.

I showed the picture to an 18 year old young man. He thought it was a “different sort of photograph”. I shared it with someone else who wondered why I took a picture of the weeds.

I showed it to a very artistic 10 year old who took one look at the photo and said “that’s beautiful!” I asked why and she said “It just is!” I asked an adult who also thought it a pretty picture and she said “my, what an interesting perspective”.

I felt that summed things up nicely.

Just off hand I’m thinking that Franky and Jonny look up and think “Freedom”! But that’s just a guess on my part!
