The Song I Sing!

I wrote this a couple years ago, and decided to share it again today! Have a wonderful weekend!

The Song I Sing

In the past few weeks I’ve been asked my opinion on quite a few subjects.

I’ve been asked if I’m always upbeat and positive. If I really care, and I’ve been asked why.

I’ve been tested repeatedly in life regarding values, morals, life, death, love and hate. And yet I am who I am, and I feel the way I do. Life experiences have only reinforced what I felt as a child. I passionately care, and have love, for every living thing.

Go anywhere you like on my blog. You’ll find a pretty consistent theme going on. It is easy to write (for me) what I really believe in, very easy, so this then is the song I sing …

~

If I can put a thought

inside each person’s mind

and it would travel

round the world

with love not far behind.

~

If I could say a prayer for you

I’d mean it with my heart.

I’d pray for peace

That all be free

And never be apart.

~

If I could wish upon a star

I’d wish with all my might

that war might end

that peace might reign

 my message could be right!

~

The song I sing … I sing with love

My thought, my wish, my prayer

To write, inspire, pass along

This is the song I share.

3:30 a.m.- Love, light and technology…

…to chase away the fears.

Two years ago – to the day, I wrote the following blog post! It is still one of my favorites (and a true story), for all the obvious “feel good” type feelings. Hope it works for you too!

It is the middle of the night. Very, very stormy outside. Thunder and lightning in all it’s majestic power. Asleep in my bed, I discover myself waking up, the sounds from the summer storm rousing me.

A small hand touches my arm …

“G.P.?”  A small quiet voice in the dark questions.

“Yes, Emma?” I respond softly. I live in a household that consists of several children, two adults, and assorted animals. As a reference point I am called ‘G.P.’ (a nickname) by all.

The youngest has woken from the loud thunder and bright flashes of lightning raging outside.

“The thunder woke me up”. She said.

“It did me too.” I say.

In very short order Emma is in bed next to me, wide awake. I get up, turning on the bed lamp before I leave to make coffee. A short while later I’m back, bringing a cupful of nice hot “wake me up” brew along with my laptop, a cup of hot chocolate for Emma and her DSI (Hand-held game/system). Since both are wireless, we can use them safely during the storm.

Franky, one of my two cats is also afraid of the storm, so at 3:30 a.m. we snuggle, occupy ourselves with our electronics, sip on warm beverages, and weather the storm with love, light and the technology of the day.

“G.P.?” Emma says as she settles in to play videos on her DSI.

“Yes, Emma?” I answer.

“I love you.” She replies quietly.

“Me too.” I reply in an equally soft voice.

And all is well in the middle of the night.

Have a great week everyone, stay as cool as you can in this summer heat, and stay safe from stormy weather!

We Hold The Future in our Hands!

“Life … Masterpiece from the Palette of our Universe!”

We are the recipients!

And…we need reminded of this!

I watched a movie once, “Blade Runner” (a favorite and a science fiction thriller, dark and foreboding of the future). There is a scene at the end of the movie where one of the characters says words that are so piercingly true that I’ve never forgotten them …

“Life lost  in time – is like tears in the rain”

The video below “reminds” us of life – it’s beauty and it’s value. You can hear the words (from the movie’s scene I am referring to) in the background. Please, please watch (just a few minutes) listen to the words, see the beauty and… be reminded!

What we do NOW counts. It matters. We make a difference. Let it be the right ones.

WE hold the future in our hands …

WE need to remind and be reminded … Again and again until we (all of us) understand what we already know in our heart of hearts!

All the tomorrow’s that will ever be, are being created even as I write this.

We are the ones deciding what life will be in our futures. Our choice, our choices have never been more important than they are today.

~

Consider this as you go about your day’s routine today: What is really important to you in life? What really matters? These are things to ponder and weigh in your heart.

We hold the future in our hands…”We hold the future in our hands

We, The Recipients of Life … hold the future – their futures … in our hands!

Thank you for stopping by, may your day be blessed with happiness and positive thoughts for our future, my friends,

The Secret’s Out – My Ghost Blogwriter, Teddy Bear!

Yes, sigh, no more secret. I do have a ghost blogwriter, the one who writes my inspirational pieces is “Teddy”. Someone snuck in and snapped this shot of him hard at work, writing the next uplifting blog. So now you know. But really, who better qualified to speak of unconditional love then Ted Bear, I mean … really!

It’s a jungle out there! Are you surviving?

IMG_7754It really is a jungle out there … in the real world of today.

So, how’s it going?

chats_et_mulots-31

Surviving seems to be happening more than thriving. But you can do it. We humans are at our very best when it comes to adversity. It does bring out what is fine and noble in each of us. It’s when we care even more about our neighbors and friends. Both those near and those far away.

And thriving seems to happen when you reach out and make a difference for others. Your problems won’t appear quite so bad if you’re helping someone else and I’ve noticed that when we help others, many times those blessings rebound right back to us!

Kind of a “Karma of the Universe” sort of thing. Even if you’re in the midst of your own jungle. You can do it! I know you can. I believe in you!

Have a good weekend, sending lots of positive energy to all those in need! And always take care of you, so you’re there to make that difference for others.

Forever … and a day!

sharing your dreams

Forever

If I were to ask you is there really a forever …?

Would you think about it? Would you dismiss it as just a silly question with no definitive answer?

It is one of those pondering type of questions I think. I’m guessing most of us would put the word “forever” in a category of  “a real long time plus a little longer where we can’t see the end” sort of understanding.

But just pretend for a minute that your mind can stretch itself out to eternity and travel …”to infinity and beyond… where would it go and what would you see and experience? If you are seriously thinking about this then you are using the finest mode of transportation you have. Your IMAGINATION.

Forever and a Day

I think forever will always be

So the quest I do instead,

Is what I’d do with the extra day

Explore or stay  ‘abed

Whispering breezes far afield

Twinkling star lit night,

worlds without end cannot be seen

the vistas out of sight

dewdrops in the morning

mother nature’s misty breath

I wonder, dream, imagine

The question … says Hamlet!

~

Visualizing the “forever” of things can be a difficult.

How wonderful for us that we each possess the greatest method of visualizing ever. Our Imagination.

Imagine Forever …

The perfect vehicle for exploring your thoughts about things – like the question of forever. Take yours for a spin today, because like all good things, use it or you’ll lose it!

Sunday Photo Fiction – The Trucker

The truck stood waiting. His tricked out, shiny and sleek, big rig, 18 wheeler. The engine had been idling and now was warmed up and ready for him to go on his midnight run to the city and then out into the far lying reaches of numerous small towns, delivering goods that wouldn’t be delivered if it wasn’t for him and his mighty truck …

By wallyir3

… In the harsh light of reality’s morning sun, he rolled out of bed. After several cups of coffee and a quick breakfast he was on his way. Not in the 18-wheeler, but in a much more modest truck, picking up trash people left by the curbside each day.

Throughout the early morning hours he filled the back of his truck with the multitude of various unwanted things, finding (as usual) he couldn’t wait to return home so he could  rummage through the discarded items. His price for removing the trash.

Amazing that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Inconceivable how many quality items he found and resold, adding to his “dream truck” kitty.

One day … one day he vowed, he’d have enough money to buy the truck of his dreams. To be a real trucker,  to pick up and deliver cargo or “goods”. Being on the road – for real. Living the dream.

Until then he’d depend on his trusty little truck to get the job done. He was a trucker after all, even if for now – it was only in spirit.

But one day …

Feed me … Your essence! (the blogging experience)

DSC06274

Feed me so I can grow. Feed me so I can know.
Feed my soul, feed my heart, my creative muse … So I can sow.

That which I reap become the seeds of change.
Feed me with the essence of your being … your personal life experiences.
My cravings for knowing are insatiable.
I need you and I want to believe you need me too.

????????????????????????????????????????

Ultimately we humans are the sum total not only of our life achievements but also our exchanges, our sharing, our support, love, respect and understanding of those around us. Humans, animals and yes even plant life and the forces of nature. All part of a full life experience.

“From a quantum perspective we move beyond surviving to thriving when we embrace life and one another. Our very diversity of expression and background becomes fodder – the raw material – from which we learn, grow and prosper.” Penny L Howe, 2014

So feed me.
Feed me now and I … I will feed you in turn.

???????????????????????????????????????

Thanks for stopping by,

~ Penny

Follow, Follow, Follow … Is it the direction you’re headed in?

By AcrylicArtist

Follow me, I know the way. I’ll give you a better day. At least that’s what they all do say.

“Follow me on Twitter, hashtag #the latest buzz.”
“Follow me on Facebook, well – just because.”
“Follow me on Google, your circle will expand.”
“Follow me on LinkedIn, I’ll help you understand.”
“Follow me on WordPress, see my written word.”
“Follow me on YouTube to view/hear the greater world.”
“Follow me on GoodReads, read my book review.”
“Follow me on (insert here – a social medium you view)!”

Follow me, follow me, everywhere you go.

Change, inform and criticize – just follow, so you’ll know.

But will you know who you are, in the mix of all the change?

By AcrylicArtist2

Will you still be you – or slightly rearranged?

When you follow anything, know just where it leads.

Follow up your “Follows” – is it a healthy feed?

Technology is wonderful, connections evermore.

Just make sure, you do know where …

… there is an exit door.

~

Have an excellent week ahead everyone!
