Looking for You in All the Wrong Places

cub

Are you looking for you?

Surprised that I knew?

Not so surprising, I’m looking for me too.

Most of us are looking, more than a few.

And many if not all – aren’t sure what to do.

~

We are all looking for ourselves – more or less. An exhausting process isn’t it? Well the good news is there are a lot of clues to follow. No? Are you clueless? Perhaps you just don’t know where to look, or how.

Here’s a few hints:

LOOK INSIDE YOUR HEART – The very best of who you are resides in there. Guaranteed. The loving, caring you and the wishful dreamer.

LOOK INSIDE YOUR MIND – The contemplative you, the planner, the hopeful thinker.

LOOK INSIDE YOUR SOUL – The most inner essence of you that strives toward the unknown with nothing more than a belief to sustain you.

And then

Seek outward, don’t be afraid to fail … get back up again. Always remember:

“Your unrealized dream is the beginning of a plan

The plan is the beginning of action.” ~Plh

A quick note about “the action of things”. It is true that those first few steps are the hardest ones. The more action the more momentum, the more momentum the more action. Got the picture? And yes it is hard, because most good things in life don’t come easy. You do have to work at them.

But the really good news about all this “doing” is the “you that you’re looking for” starts showing up, achieving and becoming; dwelling less on the who, and a lot more on what you’re achieving – which point in fact … leads you to the “you” you want to be.

So go for it. You can do it. Yes, you can!

Have a great week ahead and remember – always take care of you.

With sincere affection,

What Do I Do With this New Day?

image

Oh, what shall I do
with this glorious new day?
It’s mine for the living
despite come what may.

How can I share
these feelings so grand,
where new life’s unfolding
making its stand?

And where do I fit
in this scheme of all things?
Do I even belong
Or is life a dream?

Yet be it a dream
I shall not despair,
for happy I am
Whether here or there.

May your week be going smoothly and your cares be far removed.

With much affection,

You Promised Me This …

image

Unspoken it’s true
Yet you promised me this:
With our last kiss
one shared with bliss.

With final embrace
that’ll never erase
your gentle caress
of finest finesse.

Promising truly
a shining sublime
of, lasting always,
a love so divine.

Never ever to be
feeling bereft
and though I still cry
I now know why
… you left.

Tho’ love can be pure
It sometimes can’t endure
or so it seems
save in one’s dreams.

“So I’ll see you there
sweet love of mine,
Where love will last
for all of time.” ~ Plh, 2016

Quiet Your Mind

quietude

An Interlude of Quietude

Be calm, please be still

do quiet your mind,

dismiss troubled thoughts

of a worrying kind.

*

Nourish the peace

to be found deep within,

soothing life’s passages

of times we live in.

*

Quiet your mind

dear friends of mine,

know there’s tomorrow

when all can be fine.

*

With calm assurance

know you’re not alone,

with courage and belief

… a way will be shown.

Tempus Fugit – The Irreplaceability of Escaping Time!

escapingtime

When Roman poet Virgil wrote of ‘Tempus Fugit’, his words at first glance seem to simply imply that of time hurrying past. But I’m convinced that he was actually thinking of the loss of time due to a preoccupation with things of no true value that in turn steal precious time away from us.

And so it is today. We are losing so much of our precious time as we seem to be completely caught up in the artificiality of today’s social norm.

It is sad. Everything has commercial value in our commercial world … and time, well time seems to have no value at all because we are so indiscriminately wasting it away.

*

We’re wasting away our immutable time

consumption soon beyond our repair,

our todays and tomorrows will then all be gone

And escaping time … alas … will not care.

Be wise with your time it does seem to pass quickly by in today’s world. Have a positive week ahead.

Do Go Gently Through The Day

Daydreaming:

Tenderly do eyelids open,

viewing softly sunlight rays.

Sweetly hearing birdsong singing …

… “do go gently through the day”.

Do go gently through the day.

Do your best but open stay,

Heedlessly of come what may

Love and laughter your mainstay.

Strength need not be rough or rude

A gentle hand does more,

Courage comes to those who care

Opening a closed mind’s door.

Please go gently through the day

weathering life’s storms,

endless strength comes from the heart

when peace becomes the norm.

Sharing the Love Within Each of Us

together

The Wisest man

I ever knew,

had little to say

and lots to do.

But at the close of every day

He’d turn to others and  he’d say …

Well done my friend … well done!

So one day I asked what he meant. Was he referring to a specific job well done? That the work day was over? That it was time to go home and rest? That he was satisfied with the others and the day’s accomplishments, and he replied to me:

“Yes!”

~ Plh, 2015

I never get over the fact that there are those who go through each day and pass “good will” around the way I see so many others pass around ridicule and disdain, indifference and cruelty.

There are many who seem preoccupied with themselves, their personal wants and desires …  and yet , even still, there are those quiet gentle people who always seem to have that extra bit of time to extend a helping hand, to make a small difference, to speak no ill will. I wonder why that is?

I believe within most of us is a “fire” – to make a positive difference, to be and do more. Buried deep, perhaps, but in there none the less. I think perhaps now is a good time for the sleeper within us to awaken!

Thank you for your visit. Have a wonderful day and better tomorrow!

~ Penny
