A Passion for the Written Word.

Whether you are a dedicated writer or an avid reader, it is passion that moves you.

For the writer it is the longing to write, his or her passion – to embrace the muse. For the reader of the written word, their desire – to be passionately moved by the words in some manner.

The following prose is a dedication to those who love to read and write, for it is a truth; you cannot truly have one without the other.

Passions From Within

There is that … in your words,

exciting passions from within.

Ethereal and gentle they provoke

a lingering, craving, longing, intensity

from the reader.

Your words move, readers slide into your words

lulled senses alive.

Honed words are your tools to be shaped.

Passion ignites –

endless and enduring from the written word.

Your passion for writing … to be shared with the reader.

Hope – binding thread of strength!

By LeanneStewart

In the smallest corner of being

sometimes so small it hides,

You will still find it there

because hope hangs on.

*

When certain there’s no winning

and all is done for naught

there yet exists a spark of light,

… hope hangs on.

*

Human nature guarantees

we’ll fail more than we win,

and I think that’s why there’s hope

,,, hope hangs on.

*

Dreams are made from wishes

desires made from dreams,

hope the binding thread of all

… hope hangs on.

And  speaking personally, I think that’s a very good thing indeed!

Haibun Thinking – Memories Lost, like tears in the rain!

This week in the Haibun Thinking writers challenge, one of the choices for the prompt is the following phrase:

“All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain.”
~ Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, movie)

My entry:

rainydayblues

Memories

So precious our memories, yet often only to each of us, as we recall specific moments from our life. Although our lives are shared with family and friends our memories are individual to our perspective of the experiences we’ve had. The accumulation of memories seems lonely on the one hand, yet personal and private on the other.

I wonder … if it were possible, would I share my feelings I’ve had so far in my life … would I? Not dreary ones, or sad or bad ones, but the most glorious and wonderful ones. I’m not referring to a discussion on time and events that occurred but the ability to pass on actual emotions being felt in those moments. It might be a very grand thing.

It does seem, whether our experiences are fleeting or of some duration, each memory is categorized in our mind according to our very personal feelings or emotions of said experience. And while these memories of significant past events are rarely forgotten to us, it is a bit sad that they exist mostly within our own individual minds, to be lost in time like tears in the rain.

life’s cherished moments

While the video/movie is distinctly dystopian in nature, there is a valuable thread running through the whole. About people, life, our feelings, our reason and need to feel needed … of a purpose and to have shared those feelings with others. My haibun this week was based on those feelings.

Haibun Thinking – A Single Wish

Funny thing about “Hope”. It is both fragile beyond imagining and yet often has a tenacity and strength seemingly unbelievable.

How can this be?

Perhaps an analogy made with a wish upon a puffball, to enlighten.

One Single Seed – One Single Wish

Fingers carefully grasped fragile puffball’s stem, not wanting to disturb ethereal seeds too soon. My wish might not be heard, but blown away. The wish made, I blew gently, scattering fair dandelion seeds upon moist morning breezes.

Wishful thinking indeed for hopes to be realized, yet all that is needed for the puffball is but a single seed. A lone survivor tossed in unpredictable winds of nature. It only takes one … one seed to reach the earth for regrowth and fruition.

And so it is with hope. The seed of potential and possibility, cast upon winds of fortune.

May our hopes, dreams and wishes reach fruition. All that is needed is one single seed!

hope strengthens me

a most delicate framework

of possibilities

For some of you, the above haibun may be familiar. First posted this spring, I felt it was a good one for this week’s Haibun Thinking Challenge which is “Free Style”, or writer’s choice. Haibun Thinking – A Mother’s Love … Endless!

A Mother’s Love

The distinction of being a mother, understood by almost every single female on this planet, is to be fore-sworn as needs be, in the protection of her children! She will stand strong with this understanding, as necessary, on this battling planet called Earth!

She will stand alone, if she must. But she will stand and if she is struck down then another female will come to take her place. She is a female and a mother and when none other will do – she will insure that … life goes on!

endless enduring

distinction of a mother

insuring life goes on

This week’s Haibun Thinking Writer’s Challenge is the writing of haibun using a photo or a drawing as the prompt. I have chosen the beautiful drawing by Anja for my prompt. This was probably the easiest haibun I have ever written because as a mother, who loved her mother and so forth and so on, I know the truth of the words I write (as it is found repeatedly in history and today around the planet).

For more information about how you can be a part of this weekly writers challenge click HERE! Join in! Try your hand at haibun writing. I know a few of you writers out there and I think you’d be great at this style of writing!

Hoping everyone’s week is proceeding in a positive manner, take care of you,

Inferno of Emptiness

In between happy memories and heartache,

there are the days when it still can’t be born.

Days consumed with my awareness of loss.

Some days – feelings are ignored, muted, dealt with,

and yet … and yet

there are days

when the need is so strong,

when the “lack of” …  so overwhelming,

the feeling of being so alone and lonely,

it is then, I realize you’re still here,

in my heart,

my mind,

my thoughts,

my being,

and the longing becomes searing, burning pain,

melting tears into little pieces of lost love

and I cry myself to sleep within an inferno of emptiness.

Shadow’s Simulacrum – The Enclosure Of Our Cage!

the_kelpies

We move about …

barely recognizable phantasm  – illusionary spectrums.

We come upon a border where day dream and night dream blend together.

we pass through … Beyond life’s existence, perhaps …

Bright lights and black abysses combine mythological imaginings …

and truth. Raw experiences of life’s brutal passages midst temporaneous moments, the falling petals of life’s blissful sensations.

Woe be it then, to come upon this merging of selves.

Imagination, Thy tune be well played … As in the heavens so onto nether reaches.

Shall our voice be heard for that which becomes valued most …sweetness and caresses, those learned impassioned fingerprints smudged among frozen moments of time; although shared not lightly, introspective to perception.

Should we concern ourselves with the causation of sharing? Fearful lest there be understanding come at last into the mirage of our being, the root of perceived existence?

lifemaze

Traveling through endless corridors of life’s gained wisdom, do we admit defeat just prior to endgame or become empowered by eternity’s solution?

And do we deny the existence and ownership of  the key to our individual, self imposed cage of containment – those rigidly manufactured, maintained and re-enforced bars of willful ignorance – so that no answers are required?

Yes, we do.

Hello everyone.

I’m frequently asked why I write what I write. Mostly, I write to inspire, motivate and inform, but every now and then, the Muse of  “The Penny That I Am” gets hold of me and then I write for myself. This piece was written of a moment, where the need of creative thought formed this composition. I’m hopeful there was some small understanding and at least a bit of pleasure derived in the reading.

Thank you.
