The Amazing “Presence” of Being (you)!

Believeinyou

*

Do you believe in yourself. I mean … really?

I think you’re pretty familiar with your values, hopes and dreams … and know (mostly) what those are. But what about your strengths? The things you do on a regular basis to shore up weak areas within yourself.

Do you feel a sense of accomplishment? Are you proud of this? I’m not talking about (big headed) ego here, just having a really nice feeling because you’ve achieved or completed that which you set out to do … That you overcame obstacles. …That you tackled hard problems … That you successfully faced adversity … That you conquered fears.

Notice the singular thread of what I’ve been saying. I’m speaking specifically about you and your individual strengths. And while it is a wonderful thing to have others support you, it is just as important for a belief in yourself. That you are capable of solving problems, and in setting and reaching new goals!

If you’ve determined you don’t have the strength or “power” to achieve for yourself, I’d like you to know that deep inside of you … YOU DO! It’s inside, perhaps buried at the moment, hidden midst insecurities and what you’ve decided are failures but it’s there, waiting for a signal from you. You are stronger than you can possibly imagine. And perhaps imagination might be a good thing here. It worked for Einstein and Disney pretty darn well, according to them.

Start today. It’s a good day for really believing in yourself. And …

… think about this. Your “Presence” of being YOU glows when you achieve. It’s noticed by others, and the really cool thing is you’ll notice it too!

Time to start glowing.

At the Heart of the Matter

“At the heart of every flower

are nurturing elements that help make it so beautiful,

our souls are like that, I think!”  Penny L Howe

How we feel about ourselves – how we feel about each other. There is a direct correlation, you know. We ALL need to feel needed, cherished, important, of value. And the less we feel this way about ourselves, the less apt we are to reach out to others, to share and shore up their weakness and needs through love and care … even as they do for us.

At the heart of the matter is – the heart. All our hearts, the universal symbol of love. And our heart needs constant attention and nourishment in the form of love. So where to begin?

Well, I’d say with love of self, only as it relates to you deciding you are a good and capable human being. Start there. Then begin to reach out to others. You’ll find your own self worth grows in direct proportion.

Remember we all need nourishment – not just from food and drink, also in the form of emotional love and caring to insure our well-being!

Calling on Hope … or perhaps Hope calls on you!

Weariness can bring it’s own sort of distress.

when my heart gets weary

and I cannot seem to breath

my soul whispers hope

It’s inside your heart, you know. The determination and ability you need to carry on. In spite of fatigue, weariness and the feeling of being completely overwhelmed with life. Your life, in particular.

Look inward. It’s there. It’s been there in the past and it’ll be there again. Waiting to shore you up, strengthen your resolve and assist you with some common sense problem solving and solutions, so life doesn’t seem so out of control.

Good Luck, I know you can do this. After all it’s a good thing for you … to take care of you!

Living Life – An easier way.

 DSCN1442

It isn’t the living that’s so difficult … it’s life itself. Life can come at you hard and fast. Take you down when you least expect it. That’s the truth. In fact for most of us you can count on it happening. But living … well that’s something else again. What you do, how you act, how you feel when life throws you a curve ball will determine how tough things are going to be for you and for how long. This is also true.

The distinction is that while we cannot change some of the things that happen to us, we can decide how we will respond to them. And we’re back to hard again. Or at least tough. Some of the things that happen to us, not of our making, (although an amazing amount of what happens to us is) are emotionally and or physically hard to overcome. But people do it everyday. And they’re fundamentally no different than you or I.

They do have determination, however. They are willing to get back up and try again. And even though you read this and say well maybe for them … the last truth I’ll share with you is that in the long run, it turns out to be easier to change your attitude about life and yourself, to make things happen in spite of it all – if you’re willing to do so.

So here’s the thing – I believe you can! Do you?

With sincere affection,

How to find your own self-worth!

file0001282635185How do we determine our value or self-worth?

There appear to be a wide variety of systems in place today, along with achievement markers for “qualifying” things; grade scores, evaluations etc.

But what measuring tool do we use to decide this for ourselves?

Think carefully here because this is the attitude you bring when deciding whether or not to “go for it” in life, you know … doyourself something new or challenging!

Do you believe in yourself?

Are your feelings about yourself based on someone else’s assessment (someone else’s negative attitude – because of their own failures or jealousy).

Have you been told what you can’t do, so many times, that you’ve decided there is probably no point in trying because you’ll fail anyway, like always … sound familiar?

Okay so here’s the point – when doubting ourselves, regardless of the reason why, we then proceed to worry ourselves into panic attacks, negative attitudes and pretty much live up to what in reality was a false assessment – not a true one at all.

And that’s the Why about this!

The What to do about this follows:

  1. Stop thinking about all the reasons “You” can’t do or be something. That’s just “the worry of things” having it’s way. And it doesn’t accomplish anything positive either.

  2. Reassess your own personal feelings about yourself and your worth. You, not someone else!

  3. Start learning to trust your own instincts more. They’re patiently waiting for you to listen to them.

  4. Go “do” things. You’ll make more mistakes, guaranteed. BUT you will also be learning what to do right in the process. It’s called trial and error, (btw – it’s worked for every single famous person who ever succeeded!)

  5. Remind yourself of your unique way of viewing life. You own personal attitude about the Why About You!

The most important one to believe in is of course yourself.

The famous author, Laurell K Hamilton was told by the head of a creative writing program (that she was kicked out of) in college that she’d never make it as a writer and that she was a corrupting influence on the other students. It crushed Laurell. She didn’t write again for several years.

After a series of successful books, when asked why she didn’t send her books to this teacher to show her what a success she had become Ms. Hamilton replied (these are her words):

“No, because she didn’t believe I couldn’t succeed as a writer, she feared I could! She feared I would go out and do exactly what I have done…”

And that’s that, sums things up nicely I think, have a nice day, take care of you and believe in you too!
