A Single Candle

a single candle

I light a single candle

Shining peace upon the land,

I give thanks for all my treasures

Nurtured close at hand,

~

My heart does store most precious

All the love that it can hold,

Gentle thoughts do comfort me

Your blessings are foretold.

~

I’ve seen you in my mind’s eye

I’ve felt you in my soul,

Reaching I embrace you

And lovingly enfold.

~

We all were made for loving

To our hearts be true,

And as the glowing candle

I share my peace with you.

Bubbles, Moments…The Nature of Happiness!

A Bubble

When one blows a bubble, it is known and understood that the ephemeral beauty of this floating bubble may be very short-lived. But then you also know you can blow another bubble and another and then multitudes, if you chose to. The nature of the bubble.

~

We watch with joy and pleasure during the process of the creation of a bubble, arising from pursed lips and the breath from our lungs to be encased inside.

The bubble floats gently into the air reflecting a multitude of iridescent colours – an oval mirror imaging the life around it.

Our breath encased in the fragile shell that will at any second pop and be gone..

~

Happiness…it happens this way in life too ~ doesn’t it?

~

The key to happiness is in our hands!

~

May your life be truly filled and encased with many moments of happiness.

Thank you for visiting me today,

Awww … and Reading Inspiration too!

Reading – the foundation to learn upon!

I love this picture!

Reading words became my learning foundation when I was 4 years old. I had difficulty hearing as a child so I was taught to read early (actually my mother taught all of us to read early, she felt it was important.).

My imagination happily took flight when I would get lost inside the the story of a book and when not reading I would daydream and imagine all sorts of wonderful things as a child.

Reading books is a very good thing for children. Based on my own personal experience I cannot encourage you enough to encourage children to read books. There are electronic formats now, in abundance.

And these are good too. They can be used to further encourage children to use, write and read words. Word power is the thing.

The more words a child knows the more he/she is able to learn.

Education is the key to a better future. Word knowledge is the main foundation for education.

~

Share, be involved and encourage children to read. This is Good!

This is very good!

Always!

The Gift of Belonging

To All my fellow Bloggers’

I wrote a post awhile back called Why I blog. In it I mentioned that the original meaning of the word blog was a chronicle or a written diary (web log – blog), but I also stated that I believed blogging had evolved.

The new breed of bloggers are a creative group of people who care and want to be nurtured in return with comments and words that will further them along in their endeavors (their hopes, their dreams, their goals, their disappointments, their pain, their successes, their joy, their laughter).

Blogging has become much more than a written diary. Now it is a personal connection between like-minded people and a medium of exchange in the finest, truest and most meaningful manner.

So I decided there were a few letters missing from the word BLOG. Those letters are ‘e’ and ‘n’ when blended with the word BLOG you get the word BeLOnG. This is the word that I feel describes the blogging community. A place where we belong. That’s how I feel when I write a post, upload a photograph, share music, videos, recipes, anything that I want to share. When I hit the publish button I feel I’m a part of something so much bigger than I. I feel I’m making a difference.

When I follow and visit other bloggers I feel connected. When I read their posts and share in the comments then I know I’m a part of something enriching and vibrant. I finally feel I’ve found a place where I fit in. Where I belong.

In the last several weeks I have been honored in a variety of ways and I am humbled by the caring appreciation bestowed upon me by this wonderful community of bloggers.

The response I have received from all of you is gratifying and overwhelming:  Reblogs, the links sharing me on twitter and Facebook, the mentions on other blogs, an original poem dedicated to me, (thank you again mixedupmeme) the wonderful comments, the nominated blogger awards (I apologize I am behind there, I think there’s 4 or 5 more to go!). I am so grateful.

I wanted to do something special for all of you. I wanted to give you a gift. Something to give to you that you could share in return.

My gift to you is the gift of Belonging Award. There are no rules. It is yours to take if you wish and share it in return with other bloggers when they visit your blog. Pass it along, that’s why I made it. To remind all bloggers they do belong. That’s it’s purpose.

To those who Blog, I honor you, you belong to the Blogger’s community.

Please accept this gift of Belonging Award. There are no rules. Just post it on your blog, share it with your followers and enjoy!

The picture I sketched some time ago. He is a Troubadour. In the middle ages the troubadour was a traveler. A talented and clever person who wrote and sang songs and shared stories with those he met in his travels, A little bit like bloggers today. Our travel method is a bit different is all. The words at the bottom say I BELONG with the word I BLOG superimposed over it. I hope you’ll share the story of the Troubador when you pass this award on to other bloggers who belong. It does seem to be the one thing we bloggers do well – Share!

With heart felt thanks, Penny

When in doubt be creatively plausible?

I did start out prepared to do the right thing. Really! I was going to stay right on top of responding to the people who might nominate me for those excellent blogging awards (see honorable intentions here). If you look at the top of this blog site you will see to the far right the word BELONG. I created this section specifically for the purpose of displaying blog awards and all that goes with them.

So the thing is I got behind. (Yes I do have an excuse although not a very good one, still….I’ve only being seriously blogging for a few days more than a month so I’m just getting my sea legs, so to speak.

And yes I do have writing skills, but this shouldn’t be confused with blogger skills, in this area I’m a serious newbie and still learning not only the rules of the road but everything that has to do with the various tekky how-to things.  And I know it’s still an excuse (“Just because you have a reason why, doesn’t make something okay!”- Wisdom from my mom when I was little.)

And all you bloggers have been very friendly and interactive with me so I have been right back at you (because I care of course – and that takes up time too! Yes I know another excuse!)

So here’s the deal – when in doubt be creatively plausible. It’s worked for me in the past so I’m going to try it today. I will mention each of the awards I’ve been nominated for in the past week (I can’t even find one of them – the sunshine award, I know it’s here somewhere amidst my emails and comments, but I just can’t seem to locate the sucker.).

Anyway I will speak with great regard for each of the lovely people who nominated me and figure out a way to catch up with the rest of the responsibilities that go with being honored for each of the blogging awards. (Hey cool, I just found my sunshine award nomination hidden away in the comments from the 21st.)

I’m actually quite proud of the prowess I’m beginning to display in navigating somewhat intelligently around my wordpress dashboard. Don’t laugh, I’m wise beyond belief in some areas,(and if you think I’m actually serious here – get used to disappointment. Should you be a fan of the classic movie The Princess Bride you’ll get this reference.) creative off the wall too, and then there’s all the rest of the stuff where I’m a total ignoramus! Though, someone recently asked me for help in the blogger tech-world and I even managed to help them.

   Very Inspiring Blogger Award

So without any more delays, in the past seven days I’ve been nominated for the Hobbles Award, the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, the Sunshine Award, the Beautiful Blogger Award, and the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. Don’t they look lovely all grouped together up above? (Good Grouping! – If you’re a fan of the classic movie Young Frankenstein you’ll also get this reference.)

I was nominated for the Hobbles Award by two very special Blogger friends, Nhan Pham and Nenskei.

  • Nhan Pham – You can find Nhan of Nhan-Fiction at http://nhanfiction.wordpress.com/, he is a serious gamer and a very talented and gifted writer. I would greatly encourage you to visit his blog.
  • Nenskei – You can follow her by visiting her blog The Way I Live Naturally  http://nenskeifacestheworld.wordpress.com, She is both poetic and whimsical with a little bit of mystery thrown in. All in all a delight to follow. I certainly think so. Be sure to visit her soon.

The Sunshine Blog Award was nominated to me by

  •   Kina, Her blog is Human in Recovery. She can be reached at http://humaninrecovery.wordpress.com, Her blog is a very personal journal of recovery, growth and healing. Kina herself is a gentle and caring woman. Her blog is inspirational and uplifting – a good one to follow.

I was nominated for the  Very Inspiring Blogger Award by

  • Cimplicity Rocks. I really enjoy the fun of this Blog. It is very clever, sometimes inspirational, frequently funny but always interesting, a very good blog to follow at http://cimplicityrockss.wordpress.com.

I received nominations to the last two Awards –The Beautiful Blogger Award and The Sisterhood of the World Award from Nizy.

  • Nizy’s Life Compendium is a delightful blog to visit at http://nackynice.wordpress.com. Nizy is a lovely human being. She loves to mediate, write and share. A very positive person her writings are a delight to read. She’s worth the visit!

A complete page for each of these wonderful awards and all that goes along with each of them will be forth coming as expeditiously as possible. There, hows that for plausible creativity?

The young man holding the dandelion fluff is significant. Several years ago on his 10th birthday weekend while preparing with his dad for a big birthday party, his dad had to run an errand, (I was there with the family), he said “I’ll be right back”. And the young man never saw his loving caring dad again as a careless motorist struck and killed him 5 blocks from the families home. I wrote the poem because it is so very very painfully true. Do cherish the moment with those you love. That is the very sincere and emotional message of this poem, and while I first wrote it last July I felt it was worth reblogging again. Thank you.
