Sleepless in Seattle – Zombie Identity Crisis!

An Official First Ever Zombie Rant

“If you honestly believe having pieces of myself falling everywhere is some kind of a great kick in the pants (much less the need to go back and collect them, well okay, mostly I don’t do that, unless I see a dog, like, chewing on a piece and well, that’s just gross) but come on lighten up already! And those movies … Aww come on already!”

“So do you really think that being among the undead is something I coveted, something that I couldn’t wait to happen. (actually I’m not precisely sure how it happened – it just did!) Exactly what do you think I’m supposed to do with myself? Well more precisely the various pieces of myself.”

“Yeah, I’m ticked off about stuff. You would be too. How’d you like to wake up and be …well, like me.”

“The average day spent groping about for direction, I still don’t have a clue of what I’m supposed to be doing, ya’ know, my M.O. (so to speak). So I hang out with other undeads, I have an in there, naturally, but then there’s this “like” group of us milling around. Although I have to say it was exceedingly groovy and cool to help Michael Jackson in “Thriller”. Who knew we could dance like that? We didn’t even need a choreographer, it just came naturally. Those awesome funky moves, I mean.”

“So there you have it. I (we) need serious direction because well, we’re basically clueless, kind of like Buffy the vampire killer, so we do what we do because … we do. The redundancy of our redundancy kind of thing … did that go over your head? I hope?

“I like to think of myself as being a somewhat intellectual zombie! Smarter than the average zombie. I wonder? Are all we zombies ‘average’, you know the same as? Or are we individuals, unique onto our selves (parts and pieces)? Sigh, heavy thoughts for one to contemplate. Over my head or off my head, as the case may be. The thoughts get lighter than … ha, ha. See a sense of humor too!”

“I’m thinking there has to be more to it then that. Okay so that’s my rant. Enjoy the video. Oh, and if you can come up with any thoughts on what my focus as a zombie should be – let me know, in the mean time, I’ll stay “Sleepless in Seattle”! Yeah I do puns really well! Oh and it’s okay if this goes viral … I’m totally cool with that also!”

“Your zombie friend, borrowing Penny’s THE WHY ABOUT THIS space (thank you Penny), so I could rant!”

Love and hugs (“I thought that was a nice friendly ending, but you probably wouldn’t really want to hug me – unless you want to take part of the hug with you, literally speaking”).

The Rose of Love

The Rose

In Greek Mythology Aphrodite was asked to provide the name for this loveliest of all flowers. She gave the name of rose in honor of her son Eros, the Greek god of Love. By taking the first letter “e” and having it come after the “s” in his name you get – rose. An excellent tale, but for whatever the reason, the rose is considered the flower of love.

Roses are many millions of years old. They are beautiful flowers and come in many colors, shades and hues. There are thousands of varieties. But a rose … is a rose … is a rose and the eternal symbol of love!

“The rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart.” unknown

“If you stand in front of a mirror with 11 roses, you’ll see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world.”  unknown

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Shakespeare

Nobody does it better

… than you!

You … the heart of the matter,

and how your feel about yourself! I’m not talking ego, or being selfish or self-centered.

No I’m speaking of SELF WORTH! Many of us struggle with this.

And yet there you are … you amazing you! Can’t you

see how truly wonderful you are? Listen to the following video

and sing along with it … to yourself! Baby you’re the best!

You really are, you know!

It’s time you acknowledged this to yourself,

and reset your “How I feel about me monitor”!

Just inside you is this awesome person

waiting to be found and recognized for the pure value

she/he possesses. But she/he needs

your recognition and belief before believing it’s true!

So sing these words of praise to you

… for you

And then give yourself the biggest hug you can!

Because nobody does it better,

and it begins to make a difference

when you accept and believe this to be true!

Good, and I’ll keep on believing in you too, with all my heart

until you also know … you’re the best!

You are loved for who you are right now, all the parts and pieces

that make up the you that you are!

Don’t let anyone

ever convince you of anything different – it isn’t true!

The Why about number one!

The ‘one‘ number in our counting system we write about in a most creatively inventive style when it comes to who and how we feel about things!

number one.

Understandingly enough, the number “1” is the symbol we frequently use to express our state of emotions. We refer to  “the one and only” or a “singular individual”, or “you are number one in my book” These meanings when personalized can become ripe with the raw emoting from our very inventive imaginations.

We view ourselves as singular. I am one person and you are one person. But we do tend to wrap our emotions around a theme of “oneness” in a very inward and selfish way too frequently. (we all do – without exception here.)

The word one, when it has to do with humanity is important. In my future world “one” will unify, encompass everyone, no exclusions. Time will then be better spent on solving the problems of one people, one planet and so on.

One can also refer to an individual feeling alone. Apart from the rest – lonely. A very sad place to be. And yet each of us have occasions where we live in the land of the lonely. Hopefully for only a short duration. Life is rich with the potential for each ‘one’ person to love many others and more importantly, themselves.

Hard not to go to an emotional place with that song, about the number one. In summation, numbers are a science to be utilized best by mathematicians, but mathematicians are people too, so I’m thinking emotions will always reign supreme in the whole scheme of things.

Make the number one, a wonderful one today – you and all those around you. Make one – count for something!

Love is for embracing Life!

Live and share your love!

There are no set requirements for loving another. Just simply love and share yourself! Young, old, big or little, distant or close, love connects all of us to each other … If we let it!

“Love is for embracing life … Live and share your love!” – Penny L Howe, 2013

thank you,

The Perfect Love Song!

Yes it is!

The sentiments are rich and full, the visuals (in the video) are beautiful but the meaning underlying it all are breathtakingly true of what we would wish for in life I believe. And I think the man who wrote the words performs them best of all.

“Dance Me To The End Of Love”

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic ’til I’m gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We’re both of us beneath our love, we’re both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I’m gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

The Value of A Penny

The penny – a devalued coin!

I know! Difficult to not go to the obvious place with this title. Yes it is my name. It is also a coin. A devalued coin. It may be gone soon only to live on in coin collections and clever sayings (I’ll bet I know most of them too. lol) But I actually have a legacy with the penny (coin), one I would share with you.

This is a true story, the specific location Northern Idaho, USA.

I was born in a small cottage (my dad built), not too far from the Canadian border between that country and the USA. I came early, it was the middle of the night, the family was snowbound and so my dad delivered me. The next day, while driving me to the nearest hospital, my parents decided to name me after a song.

They loved music. There had been a scene in an old movie where a man (a wonderful singer Bing Crosby) is calming a child afraid of a storm. He sings a lullaby. The song became very popular. Years later, still enjoying the tune, my parents took the words literally and named me for the song.

It does have special meaning for me, of course, so thought I’d share. Oh, my dad was a musician in his early days, he had his own band. This then my legacy I was born with. Hardly from heaven, extremely mortal when it comes to messing up and making mistakes…but it kinda’ sums up how I feel about others and my need to make a difference!

It was hard locating this film clip which is very old (much older than I. lol) And it shows in the recording.

Penny’s From Heaven

Every time it rains, it rains pennies from heaven
Don’tcha know each cloud contains pennies from heaven?
(You’ll find your fortune fallin’ all over town)
(Be sure that your umbrella)
Is upside down

Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers
If you want the things you love, you must have showers
(So when you hear it thunder) Don’t run under a tree
There’ll be pennies from heaven for you and me

(Every time it rains, it rains) pennies from heaven
(Don’tcha know each cloud contains) pennies from heaven?
(You’ll find you fortune fallin’) All over town
(Be sure that your umbrella) Is upside down

Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers
If you want the things you love you must have showers
(So when you hear it thunder) Don’t run under a tree
There’ll be pennies from heaven for you and for me.

So there you have it, something about me you didn’t know. I hope you found it interesting, and I…well I’ll continue to try to live up to the “representative” meaning in the lullaby by inspiring and making people feel good, as good as I can, anyway. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by, Penny

Everyday – Filled with Life and Love!

Every day – Filled with Life and Love

There is a song that starts the day in our house every morning, because the music/lyrics are rich and full!

When the music gets turned on the sound reverberates through the house (good sound system lol) It is played loud and everyone in our home stops what they are doing and we all join in the living room and all of us, from the youngest ones to the teenagers (Jordan and any friends staying over) and adults, (Christina and myself) we dance and sing all the way through. The scene is in a nightclub but it is the words in the chorus that we sing to and enjoy!

Nope, I‘m not making this up. In this household we have weathered extreme loss and a horrific storm that followed, it took years and a mighty battle raged here, through sickness, pain of loss, sadness, despair, anger, and now we’ve come through and we embrace each day. We haven’t forgotten, and we do remember, but now our todays are as filled with happiness as we can make them.

These are not just words being written. We are filled with life and love. Because we are young, each and every one of us. Think on this, if you will! Enjoy the weekend everyone. This is your life. Yours to live, love and be loved. Embrace it! Right Now!
