Prisms of Fear – Yours and Mine!

Ethereal Beauty

When you look at life through lens darkened with shadowy prisms of fear everything can look wrong/bad, even futile; this includes how you view yourself, others and the nature of things happening to and around you.

Therefore, it becomes of great importance for you to know and understand that your fears have no power unless you give them same. Hatred and insecurities are fueled by fear.

And you … well you have much more internal power than you think you do. Time to be aware of this. Let your spirit loose. Be who you were meant to be. Set things up the way you want them … you know, the way that within your glorious heart of hearts and dreams they are meant to be. First in thoughts and then with your actions.

You belong to you. You are the powerhouse that feeds creative energy to your soul. Energy connected to you through Universal love, an ever flowing spiritual currency without end. Let your energy free, love filled and awash with light. The darkness of fear cannot reside here. At least not for long.

Today’s the day to begin to make it so. Be brave and never forget  … your bravery BECOMES you.

I believe in you and wish you well.

In Search of the Perfect Soul!

file0001407210244

He was the leader of a large country of substantial wealth. He had great power but was a good ruler, yet he was not satisfied. He went forth to his advisers (the wisest men he knew) and asked of them “How can I know if I have a perfect soul?”

His counselors conferred among themselves and being wise indeed said, “Oh omnipotent ruler, yours is the perfect soul! There can be none finer.”

But the ruler wasn’t satisfied with this answer, for he did not know himself if this was true. How did one measure the worth and value of a perfect soul?

He called forth all of his couriers and instructed them to scour the land and find perfect souls so he could compare himself to them.

While he waited for their return he thought about his personal assets as it related to being a human being. Was he worthy? A perfect soul had become increasingly important to him for some reason that he could not fathom.

Some time later his couriers returned, each with new ideas for what the perfect soul would contain but none had returned with a “perfect soul”. Still, one and all proclaimed that their ruler indeed was in possession of the perfect soul. And yet he pondered and worried about whether it was true.

So he sent forth a new quest in his land. He asked the question “What is the perfect soul”? He proclaimed that the one who best answered his question would have all the riches he or she could desire.

Crowds of his people flocked to the courts. Each person given the unique opportunity for a private audience with their king to answer the question.

As the days and months past the king became more convinced that there was no such thing as the perfect soul. Many very wise and some equally foolish people past his door to share their understanding of a perfect soul. The goal for most of them, of course, promised riches for the right answer.

One day the king, becoming overly weary of the same responses, dismissed everyone. He told all those in the great halls to depart, he wanted peace, relief from the noisy cacophony of his people. As the assembly hall emptied he noticed a slightly golden glow emanating from a simply clothed figure sitting unnoticed in the corner of the great hall.

The king now alone in the room, except for this one unassuming figure, approached her. At first glance she appeared quite nondescript but her calm demeanor and manner belied her rather ordinary physical appearance. As he came to stand next to her, she lifted her eyes and gazed deeply into his. She smiled a soothing smile.

“My king”. She said bowing her head and then returning her gentle gaze upon him.

He didn’t know what made him ask this person, this least of all individuals, his important question but he did.

“How can I know if I have the perfect soul?” He asked.

She thought for a moment and then responded, the glow of her own soul shining clear and strong as she replied.

“Your soul seeks to be full and complete, even on the most difficult of your lifetime days of activities. Your soul strives mightily on your behalf. You need search no further. Be at peace, your soul will answer your question in it’s own time. You are a good man and a great king, live your life now, quest no more for the answer. It will find it’s way to you as is the way of all souls.”

“How can you be sure?” He asked this soft spoken woman.

The pure radiance of light that now shone from her was near onto blinding the kings eyes, yet he stood firm and waited for her answer … and it came, simply and with no fanfare, just a surety and certainty that wiped away his doubts, worries and fears.

Her answer – I believe!

What Do You Believe?

I BELIEVE

I embraced the glow

Listening to intangible truths

And I but a mortal can only wonder

At that which I cannot see

But know and feel to be.

     ~ Penny L. Howe, 2012

I believe that deep inside lies a flame. A light if you will. I call it faith. I don’t mean religion. Religion is how many chose to embrace, celebrate and nurture their faith. But faith comes in all formats and I believe in each one of us exists this glowing essence. Faith is the language of the soul. The glow from within.

The flame glows mightily for some and almost imperceptibly for others. But it’s always there, none the less.

Some spend their lives disbelieving what their soul whispers to them in the night. Some spend their lives questioning that which they cannot understand even though they feel it inside. Some spend their lives on a quest embracing that which they cannot understand but chose to accept. And some radiate the glow from within for all to see.

Faith is the language of our soul and whatever you decide to accept and believe, it will always be there inside, waiting to come forth. I believe faith is the flame that shines within your soul that brightens your hopes, your dreams, your possibilities, your life. This I believe.

Don’t Go ‘There’ With Me …

I’ve Been There And I Made it Back!

My Female Voice

To clarify a few points at the beginning. I had another post ready to publish but after a few back and forth comments with a blogger friend earlier today, I decided to write this post instead.

There is a political issue rearing it’s ugly head (if it has to do with politics, sadly, too often it’s ugly) again and I’ve had it up to here! For those who follow my blog, you all know how much I love and revere life. Having said that I also believe that no one has the right to tell me what I should do with my own body. Most especially any person, organization or politician that doesn’t have a clue of what being a female is all about!

This is not a rant! This is My “Female Voice” speaking loud and clear so no one misunderstands any word I say or anything I mean. I am a female, born from a female who nurtured me. Raised by my mother and my father (both) I was raised with a set of values that have served me well. I have made mistakes, errors of judgements and some downright boneheaded and thoughtless decisions in my life. So I am as human as the next person and capable of errors.

However, there is one thing I am consistently 100% of the time! I am an adult female. And I have the right as a human being to decide what is good for my own body, mind and self. I have that right. Me. I do. And my gender should at no time be considered a reason for not being treated equal to or less than anyone else, EVER!

I’ve endured much in my life simply because I was born a female. What’s wrong with this picture? Women are the nurturers of the planet. The peace makers, the comforters, the supporters, the backbone of most societies.

Rape, yes been there and made it back. Abuse, yes been there and made it back. Discrimination in the workforce, been there and made it back. Political and Professional discrimination based on my gender, been there and made it back. I would fall and get up, again and again, and again.

I am a female and as capable as any other living being on this planet! So don’t go there with what I (as a female) can or cannot do, should or should not be, because I am a female. The issue being referred to is about freedom and choice, regardless of gender!

I raised my children almost completely on my own as a single mom! I know (first hand) the hardships that many hundreds of millions of women struggle with today. Both the single and married, with children including those suffering from illness and poverty; taking care of aging parents and at the very last taking care of themselves, juggling with an overload of things that they (females) feel a strong sense of responsibility to do.

And don’t even tell me about the few women who don’t, because the females who are responsible, care and do all they can do “in spite of their circumstances” vastly outweigh those who don’t. So don’t go there either!

This is my voice! Can you hear me?

Don’t go there with me ANY MORE! I’ve already been there and won’t be going back!

The Flavors of Love

chocolate

Have you ever thought of love as having flavors? And just so we’re clear on this subject I am referring to a non physical application. Love of a sunny day.

Or the pure love of a parent/child relationship. Or the love of footballwatching your favoritefirst steps sports team in a close game of skill. Yes even love of different kinds of food.

I know when we think of food, just a million different potentialities come to mind. What kind of food, sweet or savory, strong or mild, delicate or heavy, just so many possibilities.

I think love does have flavors, A variety of flavors that mix and match on any given day for any given reason. a special feel good spot that can have nuances to it in the moment where some particular extra something happens that sets that moment apart for you. Putting in the last piece of a difficult puzzle.puzzle A day spent with a friend or family where each moment adds a positive feel good feeling.

Christmas villageIn this country, at this time of year. the flavors of love are plentiful. Many of us have cherished memories to associate from holidays past, decorating is a love/chore in and of itself.

Viewing the decorations everywhere is a daily pleasure. But more than that the verbal exchanges from people,

the happy music, and videos, the hustle and bustle, the smells and tastes of delicious treats all of it blending together weaving so many flavors of lovenew years right up to the New Year.

I for one love bringing in the New Year, the ending/beginning and the rejoicing of same!

I’m hoping this year as many of us ‘as is possible’ will  hold true to the spirit of the holiday season and cherish the many flavors of love.

Interview with A Guardian Angel – Act 1, Scene 1

Guardian Angel

The storyline for this short play is a conversation that takes place between two individuals. An interviewer and a Guardian Angel.

Setting: An semi-formal looking living room.

Props: 2 comfortable looking chairs. a small table located in-between. A figurine on the table. The stage is in semi-darkness. The lighting is focused on the two chairs.

The scene opens with the interviewer (me) entering from stage right to the front center of the stage wherestage setting the chairs are located. The Guardian Angel is already sitting in the chair (stage left).

The Guardian Angel is in the female gender (well duh! – I’m writing this okay!). She is dressed in a flowing gown of white. ( A bit over the top but you know – an angel after all!) Nope, no wings on this one.

The Angel’s general appearance is that of appearing ageless. She looks a little like every race so you can not tell from appearance an ethnic background. (The stage lighting is set so that she – the angel – appears to glow slightly.)

(Note) When you see the word Angel, it is shortened from Guardian Angel to Angel for purposes of this script..

~

Scene opens with Penny (me) walking across the stage to where the Angel is sitting. Reaching out her hand to grasp the Angels hand in a greeting of welcome. The Angel grasps the outstretched hand with both of her hands. She is looking intently at Penny with a wide smile on her face.

Penny confident interviewerPenny: Good Morning…how are you? (She removes her hand from the Angel’s hands looking a little uncomfortable with the encounter and takes a seat in the other chair.)

Angel: I am fine.

Penny: (Looking embarrassed.) That was silly of me. Of course you’re fine. I’m guessing you’re always fine aren’t you?

Angel: Is that a question?

Penny still confidentPenny: No I mean, well yes I suppose it could be; It’s not in the script though.

Angel: The question wasn’t in the script?

Penny: Yes. (A silent pause and Penny looks awkwardly at the Angel) So I guess I’ll ask it anyway. Um are you always fine? I’ve never talked to an Angel before so I don’t know much … well actually anything about you.

Angel: Yes I’m always fine. (smiling benignly at Penny).

Penny: (Clearing her throat.) Okay then, back to the script. Why did you agree to let me interview you?

Angel: It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Snapshot_20120827_8Penny: (Confusion on her face) Wait! I don’t remember asking you! (she continues to look confused for a minute). I asked you for an Interview?

Angel: Yes you did. You said you had questions you needed answered.

Penny: Oh yeah, right. (Straightening up in her chair) I have questions.

(Angel smiles gentle and leans over patting Penny’s hand.

Penny: That’s not in the script either. I’m very confused.

Angel: It’s okay Penny just got with the flow. Ask your questions.

Penny still confidentPenny: (takes a deep breath): Okay then. You’re my fourth guardian angel.

Angel: Yes I am.

Penny: (Leaning in towards the Angel slightly) Aren’t you curious as to how I know this?

Angel: Aren’t you curious as to why you’ve had four different Guardian Angels?

Penny: Well yes I am actually, I just figured I had put you guys through so much work saving my life so many times that I just assumed (Penny pauses again and looks at the Angel) Hey I’m supposed to be asking the questions. This isn’t in the script either.

Angel: Life is that way too … isn’t it?

Penny: Am I going to get to ask my questions here or are you going to keep changing things.

Angel: I’m not changing anything Penny. Yes I will answer your questions.

Not so comfortablePenny: I have so many questions. About life and why I, …we are all here on this planet. what it all means.

Angel: Yes you do have many questions.

Penny: So why?

Angel: Why what?

Penny: (Getting a little upset) Why are we here? You must be able to know what I’m thinking. Why can’t you just answer me?

Angel: I know your thoughts Penny. Not what you’re saying.

Penny: But you’re speaking my language.

Angel: No you’re hearing your language. I’m “hearing” human sounds that come from your mouth that humans developed so they can communicate with each other.

Penny still confidentPenny: This isn’t going anywhere.

Angel: Penny to answer your questions, we’ll  need a common context otherwise you won’t understand what I tell you.

Penny: You can’t answer my questions because I won’t understand you? (upset now)

Angel: (Gently speaking) Common reference points Penny. Everything you know up until now is based on what you’ve learned or experienced. So I need to explain something with a reference to something that you will be able to relate to.

Penny: I understand what you are saying, but you should be able to know how to communicate with me so I would understand.

Angel: If your heart and soul were fully open, I could yes.

Penny: My heart and soul aren’t fully open? What does that mean?

Angel: My point exactly, how can I explain what you can’t relate to?

Penny quietly contemplativePenny: (Huge long drawn out sigh) So this isn’t going to work is it? None of my questions are going to get answered by you are they?

Angel: Yes they will be answered Penny. It is why I’m here after all. To answer your questions.

Penny: Where is here?

Angel: You’re writing the script, so here is where you want it to be.

Penny: No I don’t think so. I don’t think I am writing this script at all.

(A long pause as Angel looks at Penny and Penny looks at the Angel)

End of Scene One – to be continued!

Thanks for the visit, oh let me know if you’d like to have me post Scene 2 of my interview with a Guardian Angel. Thank you!
