Be Your Own Kind of Bravery

Fortune Favors the Brave

Gypsy tent and wagonThe gypsy fortune teller was very wise and wizened with great age. During this time of her current existence, she had told thousands of fortunes. Whispered and suggested mysterious and wonderful futures to a myriad of people. A great multitude of fools made her wealthy, as had the ambitious, vain, and greedy.

Of the down-trodden, the gentle, the forgotten, she had asked but a small token and then done her best to inspire; peering deep inside to witness their futures. Her “gift” – one not welcomed but accepted. On and on went her memories of those who sat across from her waiting breathless with anticipation for words pronouncing their fortune.

But before today, never had she viewed a woman of such gentle bravery, radiating from her being. Her soul – if you will. Her bravery shining piercingly through the air, hovering protectively as it spread out in progressive waves encompassing all.

A second glance within and the fortune teller finally understood. SHE had returned.

The fortune teller smiled a small, happy smile of relief. Holding out her hand in friendship, “hello my brave Sophia*, we meet again.” Fortune does favor the brave!

again and again

she comes forth to be heard

“all life has purpose”

do you hear Sophia’s* words

echo through the ages

And remember, small braveries are as valuable as big ones. Often more important too.

Have a great week ahead.

At the edge of your tomorrows …

The word ‘edge’ is an interesting word. A word that can enhance and expand (from a creative perspective) how you may view fulfillment of those dreams and goals in your life.

EDGE: The degree of sharpness (a blade’s edge). The brink or rim of something (edge of a cliff). At the border of something (the edge of infinity). a precarious or exciting state of existence (living on the edge). Provocative or discomforting, a harsh or elusive quality being aroused by any of the emotional states of being.

The follow written soliloquy (by yours truly) illustrates my own fascination and usage of the word ‘edge’ relating directly to the power within you and your ability to reach your goals!

The Edge of Your Tomorrows

“Staring through infinity’s window

you witness all possibilities and potentialities.

Perhaps perilously poised at the edge of life

you …

sense a greater purpose,

feel a deeper belief,

know tomorrow’s coming,

even as you …

remain standing in a state of precarious balance

at the edge of life.

There are those constant nuances – the ebbs and flows –

your everyday’s … everything

lifting you up (or down), yet even so, carrying you onward!

*

You risk all by just being,

even as you experience much – by allowing,

you embrace tomorrow by accepting,

always aware

that you stand

ever poised on the edge of change …

… perhaps frightening but also potentially glorious and wonderful.

So Go For It – Your Tomorrow, that is.

You. Make It Happen. You!

You Do! Because as always … YouGoOn!”

Have a wonderful weekend ahead and as always, take care of you. You can’t be there for others if you haven’t taken care of your own well-being first!

If You Are A Girl … BE ALL THAT YOU CAN BE!

jodyfoster

Jodie Foster by Annie Leibovitz

If you are born a female, as soon as you’re able to communicate, limitations are put upon you, solely for the reason that you are a girl. These limitations are reinforced in our schools, our workplace, our communities and our homes. For many girls, it doesn’t take long to add to these limitations. They become self fulfilling.

YOU ARE as equal as any other human on this planet. You CAN achieve anything you believe you can. And the very first thing to achieve (regardless of your current age) is your belief in yourself. It begins there and once you’ve planted the seed of self-belief, nurture it. Keep it growing, bigger, better, stronger.

Be all that you can be … You owe it to yourself!

And YES, #unstoppable – a very good word to emulate!

With all my love, support and affection to each and every one of you reading this,

The Haibun of Life – I’m Alive.

foggy_horsefarm
and so it will come
new day changing existence
           life, not so easy

Life hasn’t been easy, for me. I’ve dealt with just about every conceivable thing one might hope would not happen to them, during my years of existence. And I do not exaggerate. If anything I make light of what has been some very hard times.

Yes, life is hard, and I know you know this too, and have your own life experiences to back that up, and yet for all that, I love life, and my life too, with a passion that is huge. Perhaps life has given me an appreciation  for living I might not have, had it been easier. I don’t know. It doesn’t matter because it’s been my life. The one I know the best and the person I know the most about, me.

I know I’ve been incredibly lucky and blessed, repeatedly, during my years because I’m a survivor and with many years left to go in my life, I have a high confidence in my ability to persevere.  A few readers know me, and much of my life’s adventures, but it’s not really that important – the specifics, I mean.

The important thing is my understanding that I’ve been forged through life’s traumas and trials to become the person I am today. I would not wish it any different than it is. I face each day with a wonderful determination and yes, positive attitude because I choose to do so.

Regardless of any battles left to be fought, and there will be some, I’m sure, I believe I’ll be the victor there. This is life – my life, at times hard but at other times amazingly, gloriously, beautifully wonderful and I marvel that I am still alive to participate in all that may come my way. And that’s what really matters – to me.

Your Lightness of Being!

IMG_3291

“The level of lightness in which you carry life’s burdens
is in direct proportion to your level of happiness and contentment.” ~ P

~

So lighten up, already.

If there’s not a lightness to your step and laughter in your voice as you go through your daily activities. If there’s no time to feel a sense of wonder within yourself , life and others around you, then you’ve overburdened yourself. Let go of that which is really not important. And it’s for you to decide what that might be.

And  know this. It’s your life. You decide how you will carry the burdens for which you’ve made yourself responsible. But remember, if as a result you’re unhappy, the burdens will become intolerably heavy and eventually you will be unable to carry on. There is no happiness when one feels overwhelmed with life.

A balancing act, yes it is. But as in all things there is much joy when happiness is the fulcrum balancing responsibility and self fulfillment!

Be happy, be fulfilled, be contented. Know yourself and your capabilities. Even a strong person asks for help when needed. No need to carry the world on your shoulders. Leave that job to Atlas!

Once you’re okay then you can take care of others.

Have a great Friday,

Throwback Thursday: Women – Stand your ground! You can do it!

Last fall I published a post about it being your life and you should own it. Well I’m using the video clip I used from that post and a few of the words I said last year, so please read. It’s your life!

Stand your ground. Your life belongs to you. You are the one that breathes in and out of your body every day. You are the one who should be choosing what you plan to do with it, or are doing with it. The struggle may be difficult, but it’s worth it.

In the following video clip from the movie “Aliens” the heroine “Ripley” definitely encounters more things than we can ever imagine having to cope with in our lives by having to fight aliens on another planet.

But there is a point to be made here. When something needs to be done. She does it. She makes the hard decisions she needs to make, in spite of her fears, and makes them count!

.

We, women may not be facing aliens but we are still facing the right to be all we can be, as equal human beings. And it’s worth the fight, ladies. Stand up for your rights. It’s your life! Don’t let anyone take that away from you!

How many times in your life do you plan to keep feeling helpless and “less than”? That needs to stop, now. Inside of every single one of you dwells the ancient heart of a warrior, we’ve always been survivors: For our children and our families, now it’s time to make sure we’re surviving for ourselves, too – for the right to be our own person.

It’s time to accept the person that you truly are: the nurturer, the teacher, the guide, the peacemaker, the strength giver, the sustainer, the lover of all mankind and life – time to wake up your “loving warriors heart” because –

“That’s what little girls are really made of …

and we are long overdue for being acknowledged for this!”

So, stand your ground! You’ll find you’re not alone, I for one, am right there with you!

~ Penny L. Howe

This is my throwback Thursday post, but if I could I’d post it every day until every single female on this planet understood and believed in the truth of my words!
