The Day After Impossible

A parable inside the unknown surrounded by accepted reality (Or … what happens next is up to you)!

“Hey! What’s that you’re holding in your hands? I can see light streaming between your closed fingers.”

“Oh you mean this,” the young lady responded.  She spread open her hands into a cupped position revealing a swirling glowing orb nestled in her brightly lit palms.

“It’s tomorrow,”  she said. “Well, sort of. Actually I’m holding time itself. Okay, to be absolutely precise you can view this as the energy of time. Like a miniature version of our solar system.”

“Oh don’t be ridiculous,” he responded. “Are you insane, you can’t hold tomorrow. It’s not a thing. That makes no sense, besides it hasn’t happened yet and you certainly can’t hold time either because it’s not a thing either so it’s … it’s … well it’s impossible.”

“How do you know it’s impossible?” The woman countered with a grin. The glowing orb seemed to swirl and shine more intensely while she spoke.

“Because it absolutely is. Some things you just know.” This he stated in a dismissive matter-of-fact manner.

“It’s obvious.” He added, even as he remained mezmerized with her current evidence to the contrary. He continued to watch the glowing orb and a small doubt began to worm its way into his brain’s clearly limited thinking capacity.

“Alright then, my good fellow,” said the lady holding the orb. “If you truly believe it’s impossible then you won’t mind if I drop this ‘orb of tomorrow’ on the ground so that it shatters?” She began to open her fingers.

“WAIT!” The man quickly thrust his hands out and up indicating she should stop. “Not saying I believe you, but if what you say is true why would you do that?”

“Why, to prove my point of course!” She stated, paused in her actions as if to consciously deliberate his words in her clearly more developed and open mind.

“Then what happens if there’s no tomorrow?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never dropped it before.”

“But if what you say is true, tomorrow won’t come!” His anxiety was mounting.

“Nah. According to you that would be impossible … right?” She smiled a confident little smile and let the brightly lit orb drop to the ground.

Nothing appeared to happen, as the ‘orb of tomorrow’ shattered into a multitude of sparkling pieces.

“What does this mean? Nothing happened.” His heart beating rapidly, the man surveyed the various pieces of orb laying all around.

“Well, not that we can see … at least so far,” came her ambiguous answer. She bent over and carefully picked up pieces and shards of broken orb placing them into the various pockets on her jacket. She paused then with a look of concentration on her face.

“Although we can’t really see frequencies.” Her brow was furrowed deep in thought. “But we can feel them. Frequencies of good feelings and bad feelings that will shape our thoughts and actions. So, I guess maybe we’ll be able to sense any changes that happen.”

“Yeah, sure. Fine. Whatever!” He said dismissively. “But what about tomorrow. Is it going to come or what?”

“I don’t know, I guess we’ll find out soon enough.”

“I don’t get it. What was the point?”

“Point? Oh, right. I’m thinking the point was we have more control over what happens in our everyday lives than we think we do … if we act on them.”

“Okay, I guess I sort of understand that.”

“Good.” She began to leave.

He continued on. “… but what about tomorrow?”

“I guess we have to wait and see, unless you’d like to give today a try. We can test my ‘orb of today’ if you like.” She turned back towards him holding out a new glowing orb in her hands.

.

We, each one of us, do hold the reality of our future (today and tomorrow) in our hands. We should never doubt it, not for a single nano-second. Things may be happening all around us but we still have the ability to respond with how we’re going to react.  What we do with our reactions … that’s still up to each of us, isn’t it?

Hope your week is going well. As well as may be expected anyway, my friends.

Take care of you,

With much open and unconditional love,

The Freedom of Your Thoughts … Illusionary?

Nature's Paintbox:

Does the mind wander? Be cautious, there is flotsam – impregnable, polluting, and ever enticing – floating nearby, sometimes successfully pulling one inexorably toward the shores of inevitability.

Is there true freedom in thought? I wonder?

Grains of truth and hope do sparkle along the shoreline and can be found clinging in shallow tidal pools of awareness, even as the currents of existence ebb and flow.

Away from these imponderable shores, one can be found being concerned with futures. Wandering thoughts venture into the Mountains and Valleys of Uncertainties where contraindications often lead to the Cliffs of Lemmings where – located at the extreme edge – is the precipice of one’s known reality. If not careful our thoughts can morph into a herd-like mentality.

I know we do not desire for conscious thoughts to be distorted from the natural order of things, nor do we willfully choose to be persuaded, influenced or lulled into a condition contrary to who we are.

Yet there are outward influences that often subjugate our understanding and desire for a thing. Often insidious and unequivocally mind altering.

So I shall ask again. Are our thoughts really our own?  And if not – I promise that I – for one – will escape the shores of my own Inevitability!

Thank you, may your weekend be a pleasant one.

The Power and Art of Your Written Words … Can Change Lives!

They are awesome, did you know that? Those creative words you say and write.

zday_man_created_god-t3

So why and what is it about the power of words? Studying the structure and meaning of words (in all languages) is called Semiotics but there is also a field that studies not only the words we communicate with, but the biology of it –  biosemiotics.

Scientists have learned that when we communicate we are altering (at a biological level) both ourselves and our perception regarding the nature of things.

Distinguished biologists (Ernst Mayr, Manfred Eigen) believe we are evolving in the physical world as the result of our “shared” communications.

????????????????????????????????????????

There is no doubt that language is central to our grasp of the world we live in.

So when you write, blog and communicate do you fully realize the potential you hold in your hand when sharing an opinion or idea; a short story, (article, book, play, poem, song)?  Do you know you may be changing someone’s life with your words? Heavy stuff, huh!

What we say and how we express ourselves is becoming more important than ever today. Our words, (to an ever expanding degree )are the collective bi-products of world-wide social interactions. And while we’re connecting and perhaps influencing each other, most importantly, we are evolving into all we are meant to be! And I … well, I personally think that’s wonderful!

Whether you’re blogging, tweeting, singing on YouTube or exchanging thoughts and ideas on any social media platform, you are affecting those who read/hear your words.

Thank you, to all of you from around the world, I feel the meaning in the words you are writing, the thoughts you are sharing, the love you are sending.

They are beautiful and important – your words – so keep writing, keep sharing. Don’t stop! Your thoughts and ideas are unique to you and this creates a purposeful value for others. Every word you write is building towards our Global future together, as one people, on one planet – An International Community growing and coming together through the power of our words.

Thank you for stopping by, have an excellent week to come and as always remember … take care of you.

Your Self Fulfilling Prophecies – Are they Good or Bad Ones!

self fulfilling prophecies

How many of you begin your day with self depreciating remarks? Or statements about what’s going to go wrong today. Or all the reasons everything bad seems to happen to you. Or perhaps you say to yourself, “why bother to try? This person or that person is going to ruin my day!”

These type of thoughts and statements become self fulfilling the more you repeat them. You send a signal to your brain that says you can’t win, you can’t overcome and … that you think of yourself or your situation as a losing one.

First rule of being happy much less successful is to believe in yourself. Not because you’re going to go out tomorrow and conquer the world, but because where you are, right this minute is only temporary and you’re a good person who can ‘step by step’ move forward in a positive way, because you know you can. You believe in you.

What really, really helps the “step by step” process is to not tell yourself, ahead of time, why you can’t do something. Or blame a situation or a person for problems and circumstances. We all feel insecure and worried, even fearful at times. This is normal but it shouldn’t stop us from accomplishing our goals.

So today is a good day to start saying those self fulfilling things that support what you want to do. Things like “Today I’m going to get my tasks done regardless of what comes my way.” Or “I’m not going to let another person’s negative attitude or perhaps even rude bullying behavior affect me”. Or “Today I believe in me and someway, somehow I will do those things I’d planned to do.”

You positively reinforce your own mindset (thinking patterns of behavior) when your thoughts, words and action have a “can do” mentality. It will strengthen your resolve as well.

Try it. You’ll discover it really works. And by repeating daily, this can make a significant difference between success and failure. Remember you’ve only failed when you stop! Every other thing that goes wrong is just a temporary disappointment and a part of your ongoing learning experience.

Have a great day and … always, take care of you!

Sunday Photo Fiction – A Scary World Out There (in your head)!

Trapped in A Vortex of Negativity

“Hey, I tell you it’s a scary world out there.” Jerry said.

“I think it’s all in your head.” His best friend replied. The two were sitting in the warm den near the fireplace, mugs of coffee in their hands.

Paul waved toward the window. “Just look outside into the forest. It’s frightening. Weird sounds and I’ve heard people are going missing. Bad things are happening everywhere.”

“You’ve heard, yes. but has anyone actually been lost in our forest?” Paul held his fearful friend’s gaze with his own level one, waiting for the response and then he motioned to the window and the beautiful forest scene unfolding outside. “The sun is coming up, it’s going to be another great day. Enjoy the day Jerry, enough with this negative crap, already. There are always bad things going on somewhere, but no more so than at any time in history, maybe less.”

“Yes but they say…” As Jerry stopped for another drink of his coffee Paul interrupted him.

“They say, they say … it’s all in their heads too. You know what Jerry, I’m sick of all this.” He stood up banging his cup down on the table. “You all need to come to your senses. I’m going home.”

Jerry watched as his friend headed for the door calling out to him “It’s dangerous out there Paul, would you like me to walk with you to your house?”

Paul snorted, shaking his head sadly as he looked back at his friend before heading to the doorway, derisively adding “Jerry, I just live next door.”

Paul could be heard to mutter to himself as he slowly opened and then closed the door behind him. “An emotional epidemic, that’s what this is and it’s contagious, everyone thinking, saying and writing all these negative things. When will they see it’s all in their heads.  Thoughts are things and they’ve created this condition with their thoughts. They’re trapping themselves in a vortex of negativity.”

Walkabout – Mentally Speaking!

It’s been 7 days since I’ve posted or read a blog. Not very long in everyday terms, but in online social connection terms (Blogs, Tweets, Google+, Facebook, About.me, Linked in, etc.) it does seems as if it’s been much longer, doesn’t it?  Time passes differently while online and so while only 7 days, I’ve missed my connections with you all so very, very much.

Here, where I live, in Northwest America it snowed briefly and gently this morning. A quiet, crisp and clear beginning to start one’s day! A place you’d want your thoughts to dwell as much as possible with today’s hectic lifestyle. Change being the only constant in all of our lives.

In the past week I’ve been doing a mental “Walkabout” as Australians might refer to it. I’ve had much dwelling on my mind. Questing my “role” in things you could even say.

In ‘personal life’ adventures, nothing has been handed to me easily. I’ve worked my way through various stages of life while not necessarily emerging as a victor, none-the-less I also did not come away as a victim and instead am wiser in spite of cherished things that have been lost.

All my life I have tried to avoid direct confrontation and yet even through fears, stood as brave and strong as I could when it was needed. I’m ‘tempered’ as a metal might become by a clever blacksmith of yesteryear. I know my shortcomings and my strengths, but more to the point, this means – I know yours too.

We (all of us) live in a period of time where negative thinking about yesterdays, today and tomorrows must not be allowed to win over us. We are a strong people with strong wills – when we put our minds to  it! I know this about you. All of you. It is a truth. You are more capable than you can possibly know. In fact it’s only necessary for you to “know” and believe a thing for it to become a thing.

There is an astonishingly true “might and capability” that lies within each of you. Never forget that!

We, of humanity are on a glorious quest for life – but the quest is not an easy one. Yet, it’s the best game in town and I’m happy to be a part – in whatever role I play, and wherever it leads me to be.

Thursday is a Thanksgiving Holiday in America and as William Faulkner (an American writer and Nobel Prize laureate from Oxford, Mississippi) once said about the giving of thanks and gratitude:

“Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity;
it must be produced and discharged
and used up in order to exist at all.”
– William Faulkner

.

I agree with him. Love to you all. Stand tall. Be brave, live life, give thanks and always remember you’re never alone! I (for one) am here, thinking of you with “very fond affection and good wishes” for a wonderful day and better tomorrow.

Rhyme and Reason

“If there truly is a reason we (humans) exist. We define
it through our creative expressions of understanding.”
~ Penny L Howe, 2013

*

I know there’s a reason in life and I know there is also a rhyme. So we think and we feel. Two types of things. Thoughts and feelings.

Thoughts for when we think on things, organizing what we’ve learned into pieces of understanding. Feelings for when we contemplate our thoughts expressing and emoting about them. In humans the two are closely entwined. Hard to have a thought without a corresponding emotion connected to it (although I must say, sometimes it does feel as if one can have a very strong emotion with very little reasoning thought being involved, lol).

Summing things up – the rhythms from our heart (emotions) and the thought processes from our mind create the symphony of our life experiences. How we orchestrate them defines who and how we are.

Therefore, we are all artists – creatively speaking, poetically endowed to convert our reasoning mind into beautiful expressive renderings (any art form) from the soul. So how cool is that?

Infinitely! – at least from the view of my eyes.

Have a great weekend everyone! Feel good about who and how you uniquely are. It’s what others “love” about you! Please share yourself – a joyous thing to do!
