Seeing Eternity

They say on a clear day you can see forever. Perhaps this is so. But I think … if you’re high enough, viewing the world by looking out, over thick misty clouds stretching off into the horizon … perhaps you feel like you’re seeing eternity.

You stand there, poised above everyday problems, staring into a vast distance of possibilities and potentialities; this moment in time etched in your mind – one you’ll remember forever.  The day you were high above the clouds, above doubts and fears, with the sense of belief … that perhaps you can.

~

It’s time for the fun and creativity of Friday Fictioneers. A group of international writers (clever and witty ones, I might add), who share their writing talent each week. Prompted by a photo they write a flash fiction (100 words approximately) for your entertainment and pleasure. Hosted by the very lovely Rochelle, this is a challenge to participate in – if you enjoy writing, and having fun! Click on the Friday Fictioneers link for more information!

If you enjoy reading, click on the links in the blue box collection.

Thanks for stopping by,

Have an excellent day and better tomorrow,

download (1)Depending on the time of day, (where you live) I wish you a good one. It is still Monday for most of you and I’m hoping the beginning of your week is shaping up to be a positive and productive one.

My “quote”, something perhaps to contemplate on this first day of the new week.~

Each day we wake, whether the sun is shining or not, we still wake and are here living and breathing! Today let’s show gratitude, leave the “numerous others” to point out (and give opinions about) other people, what they do that we don’t like, and what’s wrong with everything. Let’s remind ourselves how lucky we are and pass along caring and loving comments (about what’s right) that will make a positive difference for you and others.

Thank you for stopping by, may your day be blessed and filled with good things for you and yours,

~ Penny

Going my way?

It’s Friday morning, here in the Northwestern part of my country of America, just a few hundred miles from the Pacific Coast and only a couple miles from the magnificent Columbia River, where I make my home.

I’m sitting here on the patio in the backyard with my first cup of coffee and it is a gorgeous morning. Contemplating today, on what’s been happening in my life, my country and my world. All of which I am a part of!

penny l howeLast fall I had hoped to have things in order so I might go on a world wide tour of our planet (beginning with my country and our nearby neighboring countries.

I have made so many wonderful online friends everywhere and my hope remains for the ability to meet them, in person. I stay very determined with this goal!

It doesn’t seem complicated with today’s transportation, but the complexity of rules, regulations and procedures of traveling to various countries is a whole ‘nother thing! So this will take longer than I had thought.

In the meantime, each day that I blog, I’m meeting even more wonderful people from everywhere and I love it! Something to look forward to, these awesome connections of like-minded creative, caring and loving people. Like You!

On a final note:

dreamstime… I would like to remind everyone that it is SILLY to hate because of skin color, ethnic differences, beliefs and any other demographics (that come to mind) separating us from one another. WE are not each other’s ENEMY! The true enemy is: Lack of Education, Awareness, and Understanding as a result of which these things, Poverty, Cruelty, and the Senseless destruction of life (all kinds) continues to happen. Stop the hatred! It will destroy all of us (humans).

As for myself. One day at a time I will continue to work on making a positive difference, one person at a time! Unconditional Love Rules, sharing and caring follows and happiness results. Anyone want to come along for the ride?

Have the best weekend you can, all my love to all of you,

~ Penny

Singing Stones – A sensory lesson!

Each day, much sensory information is lost to us, even though we do have the capability to sense our b onesurroundings more fully than we currently do. Each person’s level of awareness is influenced by individual skills, our genes, environment, and our personal previous experiences.

Learning to better understand our full sensory “potential” will help us interpret our environment more accurately. It is a good thing to know that each of our senses do not work independently of one another. Science has proven sensory integration takes place in the brain.a one

Scientific research has also shown that the brain never stops changing and adjusting to its environment. We now know the brain can “reprogram” itself.

This ability is important for acquiring new knowledge, for compensating for deficiencies that result from age or injury, and for enhancing our life experiences.

So to help you reprogram a little – Did you know that rocks (solids) absorb sound; those vibrations and frequencies that travel through air and water (gases and liquids -to simplify things here). According to scientists, rocks or stones also resonate.

There are certain rocks (sonorous rocks) that have the property of ringing like a bell when struck (which we can hear). Other rocks resonate too, we just don’t hear these series of tones. The frequencies are lower than the human ear can hear, but our body still senses the vibratory sounds they make.

Your sensory lesson for today. Go find a stone. Ideally near a water source or a mountain side. But one in a meadow or barren desert will also work. Hold it in the palm of your hand for a period of time.

singing stones

~

You’ll find yourself wanting to rub the stone and no, nothing magical or mystical is going to happen … but … as frequencies go, the warmth of your own body’s chemistry (and energy) coupled with the resonating vibrations from the stone will play a soothing song that both your body and mind will sense – a calming experience!

Go on give it a try! Not magic, just science. (Or as Einstein would say – perhaps a bit of both!)

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by,

We … of a sensitive nature

Good morning, at least here in the Pacific Northwest of America it is. It’s  a bit after 8 a.m. and the sun is shining. Birds are singing. It is a beautiful morning. And I, for one, am grateful for this day I’m in.

I’ve opened the patio doors to the backyard, (while I’m writing this post). I feel the cool spring breeze and hear birds chirping. I sit here, morning cup of coffee in hand, contemplating the many things I notice when not “too busy” to pay attention. The nuances of life that I should be feeling and sensing, not the “noise” of life’s disharmony in a too hectic world. Time to reset my “sensing frequency” settle back, relax and just be in the moment.

either it is the state of one’s whole being, total consciousness

or it is not there at all.”

The Essence of Truth

So I hung out with my friend “Willy” last night (William Shakespeare – love his words) and Muse showed up desiring to play, so my prose discusses the “today” of life that is so filled with commercial artifice and pretense, please enjoy!

truth

TRUTH

Is that you
The persistent hovering
near the backstory of my being …
Truth,where art thou?
I sense your longing
to reveal all.
You seem so close yet far away
I can’t quite touch you
surrounded by life’s illusions,
this glamour of falsity,
enticed by artificial pleasures.

~

Are you still really there?
Cloaked dissimilation,
Truth,
you present naught
but ambiguity of manner,
unrecognizable.
I cannot bear your distortion.
trapped within life’s backdrop
the current unfolding drama,
or should I say comedy
(of errors perchance?).
~
I sigh for such is life today
where truths are only words
… of which are played.
And we, most amateur of playwrights
unable to see you as you really are,
make much of puzzling enigmas,
while busily
fashioning the fashions
of the state of our being.

~

Alas, the curtain will still rise
the show must go on.
If  I could but see and know you
But truth be told
I don’t know that I would recognize you
from
the falsity of purpose
you’ve become.
Could you, would you
come a little closer
and give not just an essence
but a pureness of thought
word and deed,
For I find, we need you now
more than ever.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend,

You are more than what you think!

A very famous saying “You are what you think!” Most of us have heard that saying, in one form or another. It’s true. To a point. But …you are also what you feel. And sometimes your feelings take over before you’ve had a chance to think about what to do in an unexpected and emotional situation.

file0001150069706 - Copy

Today, definitely think a good thought and let it be your special guide for the day. Mine today is “brighten the space around me, by word, thought and deed”. So whether I stay at home or go out and about I will endeavor to make the space around me more pleasant, more welcoming to myself and those I encounter.

file4291337415922

Now about the other part. “You are what you feel“. If something unexpected occurs to today, do your best to remind yourself, before emotions rule the day, that your thoughts are in charge of your emotions if you focus on this being so. Emotions are sneaky little devils that can come right into your thoughts and override good intentions you may have had. Stay the course, stay focused and you will be in control – of yourself and your attitude for the day.

Thanks for stopping by,

~ Penny

A Writer’s/Artist’s Passion

A Writer/Artist’s Passion

Oh no Penny’s not going to do another “passion” post?

Sorry, (okay so actually I’m not sorry) but you guys keep inspiring me. I just can’t help myself. This is another post for every single blogging-writer,artist out there! Especially the one’s entering the Competition (see how cleverly I snuck this in here) So this one’s for all of you, you know who you are.

There is a feeling of passion deep inside me. I feel them you know, – your words, they move me, they reach out to me and they just keep getting better. I wrote about the sense of “touch” the other day and a writer, blogger, (who I believe to be very inspirational) from half way around the world commented to me “Can you feel it? I have just touched you?” (it was a virtual handshake across the miles) yet still just for a moment it seemed real … and the thing is I couldn’t get the thought, or his thought out of my mind. The connections with all of you, through your words.

… An intangible something I recognize deep down inside when I read your written word. From post to post I go and the passion inside grows, reading your emersion into creativity. I am witnessing, written words, photography, illustrations, hearing your ideas, thoughts, all of it, everything – stirring around inside me as I watch each of you grow, reaching for all you can be … Your passions are finally being released and what a glorious thing to view! I applaud you all!

The Colors of Passions

I see them gloriously descending

The colors of your mind,

This kaleidoscope of riches

Cascading from captivity,

those hidden creative wonders

A gossamer catapulting

Of strong desire,

… Awareness …

Spiraling waves of

Words to paper,

Colors to canvas,

Photographic movement

captured,

An inner dream’s awareness

Prisms of thought

Reflective evolutions

Colors of passion

Released!
