How Many Trees …

Alone-Tree-3D-HD-Wallpaper-Collection

How many trees to be counted? How many trees to survive? How many trees just won’t make it? How many will still be alive? How many will be felled and forgotten, more (this I know) than a few. I’ve worried, oh yes, how I’ve worried – and don’t know what to do. I thought and thought as I walked and walked though the snow hanging onto my shoes. There seems, well so many, but if there weren’t any, What … then what … would we do?

How many trees must humanity use, too many to so abuse. But at this rate, it seems much to late, and their fate is what we choose. And sadly our own … we all lose.

Deforestation is a reality on the planet earth. Since we (all living things) need the trees to sustain our life, it is indeed a great sadness. As his Honorable Dalai Lama said. “In our own homes we do not throw the furniture we need into the fireplace to burn up, why would we do this to our home, the planet earth?” A good question don’t you  think?

Thank you for reading, I hope my words today give you some “food for thought”!

To Walk Among the Trees – Illumination!

Marvelous, beautiful trees!

Embedded image permalink

“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” ~ John Muir

*

I love nature with a passion. And I think trees are among the best things nature has to offer us. So to clear my mind, calm my insides and once again be in tune with the rhythm of life, (as it should be) I’ll walk among the trees.

The feeling is freeing, I don’t feel alone but a comfortable, solitary oneness that is acceptable when trees are keeping you company. You might say I’m a tree hugger because I do worry about how many trees are cut down in the name of “progress”. But first and foremost I’m a tree lover and the best way to appreciate trees is to get out there among them.

Go for a walk in the countryside, when you can. You’ll thank me for it, or if not me then the trees you’ll meet while there.

Have an excellent weekend my friends, and remember … take care of you!

with affection,

In Your Night of Days … know there will be light!

The children of the densely treed forest dozed, curled about one another among twisted roots, snuggled near the base of a tree. They could hear her words of wisdom, words whispered through the night among drowsy thoughts in their sleepy minds. Mother Nature knew her children and smiled down on them, nurturing as they slumbered.

“…and there will be those days of sunlight … and there will be those nights of darkness. Do not fear the darkness of the night, for in the morning of the day, the sun will shine again.

But when Darkness steals into your life to take from you, your precious heart of love … then know (and she reached out and embraced them all – every single one) … I will be there to shine for you as the sun shines on a blue-skied day. I will not let the Darkness carry you away.

Rest easy on those night of days. Know all will be well, little ones … all will be well.”

And the children of the forest slept, safe in her loving arms for another night of rest!

“Believe that in your night of days
When Darkness enters in,
There is hope do not despair
The light will shine again.”

Ligo Haibun Challenge – Nature’s child am I

7445948_orig

There, upon thy woodland meadow, there stand I. Breathing fragrant essence of thine summer’s day. Silken blades caress my skin, the sky above, the earth below, I am one.

Glorious radiant sunshine, glowing down on me, my naked body suckles from thine nourishment. Though standing clothed in garments, I’m enveloped in array, of cloaked and warming amber ’tis thy gift you do convey. For nature’s child am I.

Forsworn as nature’s child, I was christened years ago. As nature’s child I abide, among the grassy carpet meadow, ’tis glory ’tis my own. A wreath, a crown of wildflowers bestowed upon my head. ’tis wonderment that I behold, nature’s bounty is my own.

Singing, dancing bare of feet, absorbing earthen brownness from your hallowed ground. Oh glory be your beauty, thine vision I behold. As nature’s child I welcome thee, blessing on your land. I will abide, need have no fear, I am here, e’er each long year, for I am yours, t’will always be, and as such will guard, preserving all I see, for I am nature’s child, ’tis my gift I give to thee.

Let Nature in and worries out!

John Muir (1838 – 1914) John of the Mountains: The Unpublished Journals of John Muir, 1938 – is a famous naturalist and author. During his life he became a well know advocate for the preservation of wilderness. His views on nature and his written words can serve as a remind to us of how freeing and uplifting being with nature can be. Today I share some of his words with you.

Written one hundred years ago,

mountains

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into the trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves – John Muir

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found was really going in. – John Muir

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.” John Muir

Holding hands for eternity

trees holding hands

“If I could live forever more

I’d be the ocean by the shore.

Or could I have my choice of things

I’d be a bird who can take wing.

Now as I think of all I’d be

I believe it is the mighty tree.

But only if you would agree

stand by my side, hold hands with me,

–  for all eternity!”

The Conversation

Said the sky to the clouds
“Why do you not rain?”
Said the clouds to the skytree
“It’s just not the same.”

*

Said the sky to the winds
“why do you not blow?”
said the winds to the sky
“I’m not sure where to go.”

*

Said the sky to the trees
“Where is your shade?”
Said the trees to the sky
“I fear that I fade”.

*

Said the sun to the Earth
“what has changed, I can’t see?”
Said the Earth to the sun
“I’m no longer free.”

*

“I’m caught in between
man’s derision and strife,
From those I provide
I struggle for their lives.”green tree

*

Said the Sun to the Earth
“Please say it’s not so”,
Said the Earth to the sun
“Yes, I’m afraid so”.

*

“Very few listen
to that which I say,
They must all work together
There’s no other way”.

*

“But what can we do
To change what will be”,
“There’s naught”, said the Earth
“for the blind who won’t see!”

This post brought to you by the color Brown!

The deeply rich or mellow color of brown. Brown is one of the textures of our life! From the time we can crawl and get muddy to climbing the brown trunks of trees. One of the shades of our hair and eyes. Drinking the brews of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, all brown! So I now present to you one of the significant colors in our lives.

My Gift to You

As a tree my gift to you, I give daily. The beauty of varied and colorful appendages, cloaked and uncloaked during the seasons of change. Branches you climb, games you played, love you carved, memories you’ve accumulated from childhood to present day. My gift to you has always existed, a richer cleaner air for you to breath. My gift to all living things, shelter for lodging, food for nourishment, and recreation for playing. My gift to you is gentle. The shade on a sunny day. The shelter from stormy weather. My gift to you has always been.

Your gift to me …

Beauty in the eye of the beholder

Isn’t beauty wonderful? Most especially your own personal view. The view from your eyes.

As it should be.

file0002069514400

With one big exception. Sometimes when you share your view of beauty with another and they share their view with you each of you picks up on some aspect of the beauty of a thing that each of you may have missed.

SONY DSC

Look for beauty around you today. Put no limits on it. We all need lots and lots of beauty in our lives. The beauty of a thing, a word, a thought, a deed, an action, a view – all! Everything!

Beauty is everywhere, look for it today and, of course, as you can, share the experience with others!

file000489309392

And remember to smile and breath in the beauty as you appreciate your ability to do so.

After my last post I had to include a tree in here!

This is life, this is living! Appreciate the beauty in your world. Enjoy it, live it, breath it! Be a part of the experience.
