I’ve Been Asked Who I’m Voting For so I’m Proud to Say …

wpid-2015-07-04-09-58-23

that as an American who has a deep and abiding love of our country, I will be voting for us. For You and Me. For all the Americans in our country who care about who we are, where we are now, where we’re going and how we’re going to get there.

While it’s definitely true We (the people) get many things wrong, we’re human after all, we (the people) also get many things right. So it’s definitely a balancing thing I believe, and surely an ongoing and constant work in progress.

One that we attempt to get the right handle on each day. In today’s era with Social Media platforms and Online News Media we (the people) are inundated with all sorts of information. (Googling not withstanding). Some accurate, some not so much. We also have our own opinions (which ‘we the people‘ have not been shy about sharing).

But that’s not a bad thing because in the United States of America being free is a part of who we are and Freedom of Speech is one of the things our mighty constitution gives us the right to exercise – and oh boy have we been exercising that right.

Freedom is always a work in progress. And some parts of our progress are harder than others. And then there’s the whole change thing going on that constantly interferes with good intentions and perhaps even a status quo that we may or may not be comfortable with depending on our individual mindset.

There’s a responsibility to freedom too. One that means we can not take Freedom for granted. We need to vote and we need to continue to care about each other and the good we can accomplish when we agree to disagree but still come together when it matters.

One of the amazing things I’ve noticed about the wonderful citizens of our country is when there is a disaster or crisis (such as a bad storm or other) and people are in trouble or at risk, Americans come together with helping hands and support. It’s the Great American Way.

During a crisis while victims or those helping may personally have widely differing views on a variety of subjects (such as with our current upcoming political election) these views fade into the background. Why? Because Americans (as a whole) have proven to be greater than the sum of our often disconnected parts. Americans ‘En Masse’ really do have a gigantic heart. One we’ve shown repeatedly, again and again.

I believe in my country, my home, my family, my friends, my fellow Americans and the Constitution of the United States of America. I believe in our right to vote for those we believe will be the best qualified to represent us in Washington D.C.

And for all those reasons I’ll be voting on election day (actually I’ve already personally voted), but now I’m voting for the good in us … all of us … because I do believe in America and cherish strongly our right to be free, more than anything else. Freedom is what is important!

Honestly when all is said and done with political issues, opinions and so on, it really has always been about freedom (getting it right when we know its wrong and then going on to help keep our country strong)!

So Freedom, that’s the thing, the main focus! Yours, mine and ours and that’s why the greatest document in our country begins with the inclusionary words “We The People”, this means all of us, every single one.

Vote on election day!

Thank you,

We the People, of the United States of America …

… are surely one of the most diverse group of people on this planet. As a result we are also highly innovative and creative due to the rich blending of ideologies, cultural heritages, ancestry, history, language, and so on.

Democracy Isn’t Easy, but it’s worth the Fight!

Of course, this diversity does come with it’s own set of parameters (and problems) regarding our perception of how we view things. Such as the governing of our mighty country and our people (all of us).

The tenets of our country (Declaration of Independence) proclaim loud and clear the very substance of our land that moves our democracy forward (‘lo these many years of alternating strife and prosperity)  is the proclaiming and achieving of individual freedoms.

It hasn’t stopped or diminished. Just changed. We have freedom of speech in this country. This means we are a people accustomed to sharing our  opinions, of airing our grievances –  we aren’t afraid to say them. This in turn, generates (on any given time period) outrage, anger, distention and conversely hope, potential and ultimately, through discourse, resolution.

It is quite the amazing thing, if you think about it. The freedom to express our thoughts on any subject reins supreme. Chaotic, highly uncomfortable, and rife for potentially strong emotions to give rein.

There is never a smoothness to democracy. Being “fair” for everyone just doesn’t happen. But it’s a never ending goal with many balances and counter balances as we work our way to greater understanding and acceptance of changes in our lives.

Fundamentally what drives, (moves) us and our country forward is this exchange of opinions, ideas, concerns and desires. This is what makes our country the greatest on the planet. A heritage that all Americans share in.

And that means we are going to get it wrong, sometimes a lot, but we don’t stop working on getting it right.

Because we all have a “voice” democracy stays permutable, that is to say, a constant work in progress. No easy or permanent “fixing” of the whole.

Democracy isn’t easy. You better want it bad and you better be prepared to weather the storms of differing opinions that may not be your own. Just remember, It’s these differences that lead to change and further growth.

Right now we Americans and the entire planet are watching our democracy in action, perhaps at it’s worse but perhaps also at it’s best. As for us, we the people … be concerned – it’s important. Voice your opinion – it’s important, be engaged – it’s important, but never, ever stop being proud of being an American, of your Country, your home, your people. It’s yours and mine.

Thank you,

A Feeling of Happiness ~ share!

You know the feeling I’m talking about

it reaches right up inside you and suddenly – everything – feels

incredibly wonderful. Just everything!

~

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

~

Isn’t it just about the best feeling ever!

Just imagine if we could capture it in a bottle.

Save it for those days where we need

to uncap the bottle of happiness and take a swig or two (or more).

Savor the taste, the flavor ~ inhale it, swallow in gulps.

Yes, that’s the happiness I’m talking about.

~

happy

~

I have a few bottles I’ve been saving up

And it dawned on me that happiness is not

to be selfishly contained but spread around.

No more hoarding happiness for me.

When I think of  all the beautiful warm and loving

people that live on our planet I am happy.

When I breath in the fresh air (because I can) I’m happy.

When I witness and am a part of nature in all it’s glory

I’m happy.

~

When I think how amazing lucky I’ve been

in my life, (I survived) I’m happy.

When I hear, read or view the beautiful

music, words and art that others have created

I’m happy.

When I think of my family and friends

(of course this includes those talented loving blogging friends)

I’m happy.

~

~

When I see anyone with a big smile on their face

I’m happy.

And as I write this I realize, I am happy

so today,I share my happiness with you.

And it’s big enough to embrace

the entire planet and all of you!

Love and happiness to all of you!

YOU deserve it

so

Make it so!

~

~

Share your happiness with me.

We’ll laugh and  be happy

and then we’ll make a positive difference

together ~ Happiness works best

in groups. Because very large groups

of loving, compassionate and caring people

is a very happy thing.

As I’ve shared my happiness

with you today, amazingly enough

it turns out

I now have even more to share

for today

and tomorrow and all the days ahead,

You are not alone.

~

happy children

~

Come ~ share your happiness with me.

If you’ve been missing happiness lately

I’ve noticed that it is quick to return

right after an awareness of

humble gratitude for that which you do have.

And remembering to appreciate this

by sharing with others!

Happiness seems to magically appear

soon after …

In large doses. Truly!

Have a most happy day today,

~ Penny

I Believe in “We the People”

Okay one more time here!

A little over a week ago I wrote about how I felt about being an American and the importance of voting, The American Coin of Freedom . But I left something out, the most important thing, so I’m correcting that omission with this post.

Our country was founded on the principles and beliefs that each person should have the right to live their lives in a responsible but free way. It was so important that the Preamble to the United States Constitution (one of the most important documents for freedom on the planet) begins with these three words…

We The People…

I believe in those three words: “We the people“. I believe in WE with all my heart and soul – gut wrenchingly so!

I believe that “We” are the legacy of freedom’s yesterdays and the dreams and hopes of tomorrow’s successes, not just for this country but for the whole planet!

I believe that “We” are the watchers of our countries caretakers. It is our job, our responsibility as “We” the people to keep an eye on those whom we freely elect to help run our great country.

I believe there is a whole world out there (our brothers and sisters – also our legacy from the past) ‘watching’ “WE the people” – being inspired by what we do right and disappointed, sometimes hurt and angry by what we do wrong, but still looking to us with hope and promise.

They wait to see how “We” will be today. What decisions “We” the people will make and how “They” will be influenced by our decisions.

~

I believe in “We the people” because “We” choose freedom and are strong and loving when called upon to be so.

I believe in “We the people” because I know when our collective voice needs to be heard … it is heard around the world.

And so I will say simply what I forgot to say a week ago.

I believe in WE “the people” of this – our great nation!

Every single one of us. This means each of you. Every single one, no exceptions…I believe in you, my American sisters and brothers.

And I have a strong enough faith to know WE will continue on…perhaps stumbling along the way but still …being free, being strong and being Americans…this I believe with all my heart!

Thank you!

Please vote!

If you choose to reblog this I will be very honored!
