One more time – International Woman’s Day!

I wrote a post yesterday about celebrating this day, but decided to visit the importance of Women’s Issues one more time – with a song! Helen Reddy wrote and sang a song called “I am Woman” several generations ago that continues to be the song many women world-wide look to for inspiration. And I agree. We still do “…have a long way to go – but look how far we’ve come” (lyrics from her song)!

Just know that each and every woman on this planet is important. We continue to make a positive difference with each passing day! Why? Because we can!

Thank you and thank you Helen!

Some things need repeating – if you’re a woman!

It’s your life – own it!

I first wrote this piece a little over a year ago, and I’m posting it again because I believe it’s a message that we (women) need to be reminded of – again and again!

More than half of the people on this planet are female (this includes you and I)! We are not a minority in any way and this is your life, we’re talking about here. You are the one that breathes in and out of your body every day. You are the one who should be deciding how you want to live you life. YOU!

In the following movie clip from Aliens the heroine “Ripley” definitely encounters more things than we can ever imagine having to cope with in our lives.

But there is a point here. When something needs to be done. She does it. She makes the decisions she needs to make and makes them count!

We may not be facing aliens but every day we face all sorts of things to be dealt with. Our choices, our life. This includes speaking out on our beliefs and rights and defending them if necessary. Decide and then make it happen. It is your life, Don’t let others dictate how it’s going to be!

In the meantime, enjoy probably the greatest sci-fi heroine ever! And yes, she definitely owns her life!

Thanks for your visit, remember stay strong and take care of you!

Celebrate the Difference – YES!

Sometimes, someone (unexpectedly) gets it absolutely correct! I applaud Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas Sportscaster, Dale Hansen for getting it 100% correct with his commentary regarding Michael Sam and the people of our country because THAT’s what this country is all about – An excellent reminder to celebrate the rich diversity of our cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs! This is truly what makes us great!

Thank you Dale!

This is for the Women out there – Every Single One Of You!

Don’t give me the numbers of your age!

Tell me what you’re doing with them!

If you’re a female, in many countries you live longer, are happier, better educated – in spite of having to work harder, multi-task between work and home … and pretty much have fought every inch of the way and are still fighting to have equal rights! (What’s up with that anyway? Can’t you guys figure it out!)

WELL, Cher says it all! And her age numbers 67 years!

*Visit Cher’s – Woman’s World (official HD music video) to pre-order her new album!

And She has the right of it! We’re strong! Strong enough to rise above … as we’ve proven again and again and will keep on … until there are no barriers left!

The Minions of It All.

We have officially adopted a handful of “minions” into our household. Their purpose – create laughter and fun in our daily lives … and to remind us not to take (so seriously) the very minor, everyday happenings we may encounter.

The following video is the official  movie trailer for Despicable Me 2! The minions will make you laugh, again and again, in their playful and delightful innocence with all things in life. Enjoy:

(To view directly on Youtube, look for Despicable Me 2 – official trailer.)

~

And I recomment you adopt a few minions for your own home. More chaos, for sure! More laughter and fun – Absolutely!

Have a great day and a better tomorrow!

Nobody does it better

… than you!

heart

You … the heart of the matter,

and how your feel about yourself! I’m not talking ego, or being selfish or self-centered.

No I’m speaking of SELF WORTH! Many of us struggle with this.

And yet there you are … you amazing you! Can’t you

see how truly wonderful you are? Listen to the following video

and sing along with it … to yourself! Baby you’re the best!

You really are, you know!

It’s time you acknowledged this to yourself,

and reset your “How I feel about me monitor”!

Just inside you is this awesome person

waiting to be found and recognized for the pure value

she/he possesses. But she/he needs

your recognition and belief before believing it’s true!

So sing these words of praise to you

… for you

And then give yourself the biggest hug you can!

Because nobody does it better,

and it begins to make a difference

when you accept and believe this to be true!

~

Good, and I’ll keep on believing in you too, with all my heart

until you also know … you’re the best!

You are loved for who you are right now, all the parts and pieces

that make up the you that you are!

Don’t let anyone

ever convince you of anything different – it isn’t true!

The Other Side

Please don’t misunderstand me. While this video is a reality representing various conditions of human existence on this planet, I am not saying that the pursuit of pleasure is a bad thing. It is a good thing to pursue happiness and pleasure as well as the fulfillment of reaching one’s goals in life.

I’m only pointing out (what we know, but choose not to dwell on): the distance (discrepancy) between those who have and those who do not. It is too extreme, and should not exist today on this “enlightened?” “educated?” and “informed?” planet.

~

~

The video is just a clarifying point between “Those who have and those who do not.” “Those who are free and those who are not.” “Those who starve and those who do not.” “Those who live and those who do not!”

And a reminder of what we “civilized individuals in pursuit of our own personal goals” take for granted, every single day, as the distance between those who have and those who do not, increases with the passing of each day.

The True Meaning of the infectious giggle

The following words were spoken to me this morning by the oh-so-wise eleven year old young lady living in this household!

~

“Everything is alright – inside of us – when we laugh!” Emma L.B. 2013

Now that’s a quote I can really get my arms around, both figuratively and literally! Children do have a way of reminding us of what is truly important in life. And they are always the most simple of things. So why are our lives so complicated? How come we lose this awareness when we grow up, and why?

I recently visited one of my blogging friends, Doris who posted (with great photos) that a fun way to “escape” is to spend time with children. Check her post out, just click on her link! She’s right!

The talented and delightful Emma was recording her laughter for a video she is making (both her and her brother are into movie making). Emma’s area of interest is making moving cartoon videos from her original characters that she draws. Jack – two years her senior is also into Stop Motion videos, lego pieces and people (he has one of the sinking of the titanic), and also racing/crashes with hotwheels cars. (The process is laborious and takes hours). They both do their own uploading and editing including voice overs of their videos!

Emma and Jack

So Emma has been recording her laughter and giggles and playing with it for the voice over for her latest cartoon video. She just came into my writing room and asked me to listen to her laughter. We both ended up laughing for 5 minutes. So naturally I had to share her “giggle” and her reason why laughter is a good thing, with all of you!

Essence of the infectious giggle as demonstrated by Emma!

Make the best of your day, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Laughter does help! So do children!
