There is this …

… About Summer

there is this – about a summer’s day

there is this – the blues are chased away

there is this – creating time to play

there is this – the sunshine’s golden ray

there is bliss – in summer’s night

there is bliss – the stars so bright

there is bliss – just seems so right

this and bliss – summer delight!

Happy Summer everyone, go out and play!

  1. Love how you came full circle at the end there, pairing “this” and bliss” Loved the separation and stinginess with words throughout–formulaic, which as the daughter of a mathematician (well, physicist) is like buttercream frosting. I like to think of sentences as equations!!

    And the picture!!!

  2. Wonderful and different poem, love it. Happy summer to you Penny. Ours started with rain again……it is what it says everywhere… British summer…wet and windy… πŸ™‚
Still I am grateful for each day we have ! With love Ute

    • Yes, I grew up in a very rainy state (Oregon) so I’m most familiar with those feelings. As you say it is good to be grateful for each day we have … well spoken dear friend, much love to you, πŸ™‚ xx

    • Thank you Roxi, I’m on a mission (for myself), that every now and then I want to explore nuances, cadence, rhythmic flow, placing of words that rhyme (or don’t) see how far I can extend my creativity. I know you know what I mean there, dear poetress master! xo

      • Keep exploring because I’ve seen some amazing stuff come from your pen. I’ve learned much from you dear Penny… don’t berate yourself or your writing! I am a simple poet and I’m content with that πŸ˜‰ xxx huggs

        • uh huh! simple poet! Well you have me smiling. Let us both say that you and I are ‘within ourselves’ a continuing work in progress, I feel very good about that one! πŸ™‚ xo

  3. Can’t help but SMILE BIG on this one πŸ˜€
SUMMER really shakes off the winter blues. And – this year – it almost didn’t want to leave.
A most cheerful summer post for the 1st day of a great season!
    xx πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ xx

  4. Yes – the whole ambiance of summer makes us want to play – doesn’t it!? This is delightful and wonderful Penny ~ Much Love and wishes for a wonderful 1st weekend of summer ~ x Love, Robyn

    • Yes, it is most important to remember to play, too easy to forget in the “adult role” I think! Warm sunny days do make for more pleasant outings, for sure! all my love and very happy and Summer and weekend Robyn! xo
